Ben is a serial killer that they want you to believe is a hero. Ciara badgered the Mother of one his victims and made her out to be a villain for wanting justice for her daughter. Ciara also brow beat her entire family into accepting a serial killer. Ben strangled Will and they made him best friends with the man. Ben is the most propped character since Daniel Jonas. Just to name a few things.

Is this any worse than anything Days has done since the 90s though? I mean I was just watching all the stuff with Susan Banks from the 90s. Anything goes on this show it seems. It would have been better if they'd stuck to realism decades ago, but then I do like the possession storyline so there is that.

This episode was filler. You have actors working on limited episodes yet you have Johnny and Chanel  watching a movie and the worst couple on the show [!@#$%^&*]. You have Kayla and Patch meeting Paulina. The scenes were cute but pure filler...what a waste of an episode.

Gotta admit, Days' filler episodes are a lot better than GH's lol

The chemistry is there between RSW and VK but the writing really did doom both Ben and Ciara. If countless characters hadn't been sacrificed or destroyed in order to prop Ben, and if the conflict between Ben and Ciara had come from within themselves, as opposed to some outside force, I think people, myself included, would've liked them much more.

THIS (and all they had to do was say he wasn't the killer)

They've lacked real conflict. It seems they're playing into it now, sort of. But it's probably leading to them having Rosemary's Baby or something.

I mean, yes, we've ignored and shrugged off a lot of stupid [!@#$%^&*] over the years but it's ridiculous that Ben and Will are besties after he strangled him, for example. I mean ... this is just one reason why our soaps have lost credibility. I guess some don't care because 'it's a soap' and that's totally fine. I get it. We have a Devil Possession going on right now (which I'm all for). I've resigned myself to 'it is what it is' I guess, with Ben.

Lmao imagine

Mardevil possesses Ben, and as a result Ciara gets pregnant with a demon baby. That would be a good conflict, and it's always good to see the actions of one storyline drive another storyline

Just a thought. Probably not but it's interesting timing that they're talking about a baby as the devil runs around. And we know Marlena is Ben's mother figure (gag - I'd care if he wasn't a killer)

Haven't half the cast tried to murder someone at one point or another though? Honestly, I wish somewhere would just put up all the episodes from 1965-1995 as it was so much better then. I would love to watch the 1960s episodes. I think the lack of realism that affected the US soaps decades ago will kill off all the soaps eventually. I can already see it happening in Neighbours in the last 5 years with silly plots that would never happen in real life and the writers there are obviously influenced by US soaps.

Trying to murder someone is a lot different than brutally murdering multiple characters on screen because he got off on it. Usually when people kill on soaps it's for self defense or in some way justifiable or because they're literally on the show just to be a villain. Ben had zero reason to kill his victims and did it because he enjoyed it. And he's still a psycho. If he wasn't on his psych meds, he'd go on another killing spree. Yet we're supposed to believe that he's the hero of Salem and is the most amazing person ever and how dare anyone disagree, especially the mother of one of the girls he strangled. The character is a joke and they've completely ruined Ciara to prop him up. Ciara is a legacy character who was actually decent at one point, but now her life revolves solely around him and telling everyone how he's the best person on planet earth.

Plus, I would say RSW/Ben didn't bring much to the table to begin with except being hot.  He was bland as hell until he started killing people.  This is different than Marlena killing half of Salem because she was brainwashed.  This is a psycho killer who got the right meds.

Unfortunately, the best way to go would have been to say Jordan actually committed the crimes and be done with it.  Ben's like 3 missed doses away from killing again.  VK and RSW have chemistry for days but it's hard to build a super couple on his history.  It's not Bo or Steve being grey or shady when they first started on the show. This is a man who killed 3 innocent people, got out early because he was 'cured', and is now living his best life with Ciara.  And people aren't allowed to judge it on the show and Ben hasn't done a ton to repent.

That's why they made him a serial killer because they knew he couldn't act and wasn't catching on with audience.

I certainly don't think RSW is a good actor, but this Cin stuff proves he has some sort of charisma to catch on with the audience.

The writing did him a disservice.  They could have made Ben crazy without fully making him a serial killer and the choice to bring him back after was....odd to say the least.  And then RC did him a disservice again by just ignoring the ramifications of his killings.

The fact is Ben never should have been brought back.  I am sure Days could have found a guy VK had good chemistry with and built a love story around that, but I don't necessarily think it's RSW's fault.  I am sounding like a CIN fan or something, but I think it's more writing than the actor.  He's not Juilliard trained lol, but this show gave Drake Hogestyn and Austin Peck careers.

Steve was a little more than gray when he first arrived, but nothing as ridiculous as this.  I even think Ben’s return and rise as a romantic hero is worse than Sonny on GH, and that used to be my all time worst case of this happening.  Hooked a barely legal Karen on drugs and slept with her, owned a strip club, was a low level hood for Frank Smith…to the whole show is centered around him.  Ben murdered innocent people, even if some of them were annoying to the audience.  And of course he is attractive- still doesn’t make me want to root for him!

For me it's definitely more the writing than RSW. I liked him as psycho Ben. He's not amazing or anything but I think he's watchable as "reformed" Ben. It's the writing that makes him unwatchable. His performances aren't enough to overcome the atrocious writing, but I can't think of a single actor who could make Ben work. RSW is also super hot but even that isn't enough to make me tolerate Ben lol.

    • I agree totally.  I was just trying to reply to the other poster's suggestion that the show needs drama.  As I said, their suggestion could work with expert writing, but we don't have that.  And we just don't need rape storylines. Period. For anyone. Plus the only reason the show is using Noah is to further CBS's seeming agenda to unGay Tessa. So yeah that's a HUGE no. Also, I will add.... Bianca getting raped by Michael Cambias on AMC was bad enough. I don't need to see that again.
    • There is that worry, yes.   I'm sure there are some who think that I'm too hard on the Dingles, but frankly that's their problem..... I have to concede that there have been times when I have actually (almost) liked some of them, although it pains me to admit that now. Chas was sort of likeable for a while, and Marlon was kind of tolerable when he was with Tricia and with Donna. I also liked Lisa in the beginning. But all that was long ago, and now I can't stand the sight of any of them. I disliked the family right from the start. I mean, there was nothing even remotely appealing about them from the beginning. The pathetic feud with the McAllister family, they destroyed Luke's life and practically drove him to his death, Tina tried to frame Angharad for possession of drugs, Butch terrorized Jessica.... And then the way they gatecrashed Joe Sugden's funeral and acted like the pigs they are. It still makes my blood boil to think about it.   And then came the unholy trinity of Cain, Charity and (yuck) Debbie! Three of the most unappealing characters ever created, although they have been challenged in recent years by Aaron and Liv.  And don't get me wrong. I don't mind characters with flaws. I loved Viv, and she could be the most hypocritical and vicious of bitches. Rachel had affairs with three (!) married men, including Jack, who was the brother of her stepfather, yet I cared about her. (Except when she fought Frank to help the Dingles keep their house. If there was ever a time she deserved to be pushed from a cliff then that was it!). Steph was a psycho, who imprisoned and drugged her own father, and she was still able to arouse some sympathy. Amos could be the most irritating, pretentious man, yet he is one of my all-time favourites. I don't know if it's the writing who fail or the actors, but I have never ever been able to feel any kind of sympathy or empathy for the Dingles. And they don't even have to be Dingles by blood, as Liv has proved in recent years, and Alice did before that. It was probably not the intention from the show, but I was overjoyed when Sam helped Alice to die. She was probably the most insufferable non-Dingle ever. Yes, even worse than Liv! I know that Emmerdale has turned into more of a soap than the realistic dramaseries it was in the beginning, but I miss those years so much. This show used to be so good and special and now it's just a generic soap that stretches credibility to the limit. I mean, there is no way that two characters like Chas and Charity would ever be able to run a pub. With their criminal records they would never get a licence to serve alcohol! But we must have Dingles everywhere so to hell with logic!   Please register in order to view this content   I sometimes wonder why I even bother with this show anymore, but I have a history with it that goes back to the late 70s, and it's hard to break that kind of bond.
    • Can you guys not suggest that the only queer women on this show be assaulted, raped or murdered? If that's the only plots you can think of for them...I don't even know what to say.
    • Here's what I would have wanted to see (and what I know I'm not gonna get)... I would have liked to have seen Chloe get outraged on Nancy's behalf -- because, after all, he still cheated on his wife, regardless of the other person's gender -- while Joy, now SORASed into teenagehood, defends her dad.  And I would have liked to have seen Nancy surprise Chloe by defending Craig as well, telling her that now is NOT the time to lash out at her father or reject him.  Heck, she could even remind Chloe of some of her own, past mistakes, telling her she's in no position to judge anyone! Privately, Nancy could feel anguished, and she could collapse into tears over the thought that her husband has betrayed her (and with another man).  Deep down, she might want to remain married to Craig; she might even contemplate suicide at the thought of being alone.  But it would be imperative NOT to see her grovel and beg Craig not to leave, because that goes against how Nancy has always been portrayed.  Craig could grovel -- he realizes he's attracted to other men, but he loves his family too much to walk away -- but Nancy should find the maturity to tell Craig he can't keep living a lie because he's afraid of losing his family.  So, Craig leaves town with Leo his new boyfriend. I'd really want to see Nancy grow and transform from this experience.  I'd want to see Nancy adjust to life without Craig; as a single mother, raising Joy, who's now raising hell, trying to seduce whichever dupe has fallen for Chloe at the moment; and maybe deal with some long-buried insecurities and such.  (Heck, if Doug Marland were writing this story, he'd have Nancy go into therapy).  Maybe she DID keep her head in the sand when it came to her husband's true sexuality.  Maybe she was just so thrilled to prove everyone in her life wrong about her by landing a "catch" like Craig Wesley.  Craig and Nancy were never written that way in the past, of course, but this particular storyline has now forced a retcon of sorts.  (Like I said, their fans will never buy it, but now it's like they kinda have no choice.) And then...I'd want to see Nancy tentatively embark on a new relationship; if not with someone already on canvas, then with someone new.  (Actually, I'd prefer someone new.  Salem is incestuous enough.) I say "tentatively," because Nancy should fear that any new relationship she begins is doomed to fail.  She's been too hurt to trust her heart to another man -- now, or ever.  Nancy and the new guy could reach a point where it looks like it might get serious, but Nancy gets cold feet and tells him she's not ready.  But, I'd want Nancy to have an epiphany when she, Joy and a very reluctant Chloe go out of town for Craig and his bf's wedding.  Craig and Nancy should have closure, with Craig encouraging her to "trust her heart," or some mess.  And Nancy should return to Salem, ready to do just that, except...Chloe needs her at that moment, because she's just learned that Joy has been sleeping with Philip (or Brady, or Rex, or whoever the hell Chloe's with that week). At least, that's what I want.  But, like I said, I know I'm not gonna get any of it.
    • The right-winger and covidiots are mocking Neil Young for giving Spotify the ultimatum and are now mocking Barry Manilow and Peter Frampton for taking their music off Spotify in solidarity with Young. Whose work will be listened to well after they're all gone? I don't see see loads of millennials and Gen Zs on YouTube doing reaction videos of Rogan's videos.
