GH May 2021 Discussion

I’ve said it before in other ways, but adding to the silver linings that @slick jones mentioned above, yes it’s an umbrella story that has dragged out for way too long now, but the usage of the vets in the Peter/Cyrus saga (Laura, Scotty, Anna, even Bobbie to an extent) has been exceptional. This is the GH I know and remember.

It was funny seeing Cam go through exactly what Jason had, and then finally overhearing the truth about Peter as he was coming back in. I had been asking myself for weeks what the point was of Ghost Zander appearing to Cam, and I now believe it was some element of foreshadowing for this part of the story.

I’m now curious about where this will go - I have it in my head that Cam will somehow stumble upon Jason and Britt, but rather than go off on Jason, now that he knows the truth, he will ask Jason to let him help take care of Peter (I hope Jason has the wisdom to tell Cam to back away if that happens).

And yes, more Scotty and Liesl! I honestly have not been this excited about GH as a whole for a very long time now - please continue the great momentum!

I like the use of the vets too, and I admire the ambition of doing traditional soap storytelling with 2021’s financial and logistical limitations when the other three soaps have pretty much abandoned it. The sh!tty characterizations (both in writing and acting) of Peter and Cyrus really undermine the show for me. Completely takes me out of the story.

The meeting of the Five Families wasn't as cringeworthy as I thought it was going to be. And Carly/LW was great in those scenes. Scenes like that are when Carly is at her best.

Cyrus is just annoying lol definitely the whiniest GH villain I've ever seen.

Carly as a character and LW as an actress are more interesting away from MB/Sonny and SB/Jason.

Even if the genesis of it is her ties to both of them, that story is about HER and that's why it works.

She has also played the character for fifteen years - more than the three previous actresses combined. Like it or not, she is Carly.

    • Hahaha!!! Not Naomi being sure Chelesa ain't filming this time!!!   At last! Kat is proven right!!!   And hey, Nicole's Doctor friend, hey!!!   So far...this is giving.
    • Leslie having the nerve to show up at the Dupree House was pure insanity. Bill being revealed to be more ruthless than anyone would have thought was a good development. I have to imagine that will change Dani's view of wanting him back. The whole reveal was well done and Trisha Mann-Grant owned those scenes. That was most definitely material for an Emmy submission reel.
    • I agree, all the Guys Tux were nice. I like how they differ from each other and all stylish in a way. Awe, same. Can not believe I actually have enjoying a current daytime soap. Rewatching these episodes over the weekend as a jump back into Ryan's Hope and Santa Barbara. Agreed! Exciting times.

And it was pretty dope we didn't know that tidbit before the reveal.
    • yes I thought of the Renee party... But this is different because I'm talking specifically about the revealer convincing someone else to throw the party.  And the someone else complies, having no idea what the revealer plans. I'm wondering if Michele Val Jean did a first with BTG in 2025. But the BTG thread is already so busy -- that I thought it important to *NOT* clog it up with discussing this, so I brought the question here instead. That way, if other reveals come up in conversation, it's not a problem on this "general retro soap" thread.
    • Well, good that they showed Vanessa though I wish she was there.   Lol. And here comes Naomi. AND an explanation from Jacob.

She is diabolical! Remember in this scene she offered Martin a brownie which seemed so random? In this episode its revealed that when he was a kid, Ted used to bring him to a restaurant where the waitress would give him brownies....that waitress was Leslie. She was playing games and trying to jog his childhood memory
    • Yay!!!!!! And made it ON TIME, TOO!!!   And this is giving DAYS reveals circa late 90s already.
    • Bish what? I was not expecting that, I was for sure expecting him to go after Nicole (He still can). Looks like Leslie put her out! I love these new developments, Eva Dorian Lording her way into Fairmont Crest. My good sis better trap that doctor.
    • It should be in its synopsis on the DVR description of the show.
