All i can think of is 90's Phyllis compared 2020 phyllis arguing with Abby, 90's Phyllis would have had Abby [!@#$%^&*] her pants or probably would have tried to murder her lol

I don't think any amount of break time from the current show will have any effect on how the writers that are just not getting it right, if anything the classics should have inspired them to put some more juice into there sinking show.

An actual well done promo in 2020 for this show. Although, it makes you see how much they wasted Marla Adams in the last three years. Dina should've been a vital character who becomes the new Grande Dame of Genoa City.

So the show does put effort into things on occasion (i.e. Dina's farewell).  I know a lot was said about Dina's complicated relationship with Jack and Ashley..but what was her relationship with Traci like?

Phyllis is a played out character..and MS needs to reign it in

I know it's sort of funny when they wanna put good work in you can the big difference compared to majority of this hem and hah dialogue.

I'm going to miss Dina as i knew her time was coming soon i just had hoped they could have done something to make her last but i guess it's the ending of an era. She will be missed dearly

I remember reading somewhere that Bill Bell wrote in the breakdowns for Dina's 1983 return that it was the biggest moment in Y&R's history.  So glad to see that clip included in the promo.

Meanwhile, I'm watching the promo again, and my eyes are transfixed on how Dina is holding that gun.  Was she about to deliver the killshot?  Who knew Madame Mergeron could be such a thug, lol.

I haven't watched in weeks but I will tune in to see Dina/Marla Adams farewell. I was actually fine with the Alzheimer's story for Dina. It grounded the show back in reality for a bit.  Reminds me of the last time I took a hiatus, and then we lost Jeanne

At least this time Marla is here to say goodbye.

I haven't been watching, what article is this?

I guess the only positive is that Dina has gotten the chance to make up for lost time with her family and mend fences somewhat and they didn’t kill her off-screen for some crap “shock” moment.

If only the story leading up to this was better and worthy of Marla’s talents - she always brought so much to her scenes though, even when they gave her very little.

That was more out of desperation after Brent had told Ashley about her paternity, leading to the latter’s breakdown. I watched those scenes in the vault and they were amazing. Both Marla Adams and Bert Kramer were dynamite in that scene.

Unfortunately it wasn’t Brent who got shot in the end, but rather Kay accidentally after she walked in on Dina about to pull the trigger.

There is a media company called Chancellor Communications (ChanceComm) that is owned by Jill, and run by Billy and Lily.

Billy ran an article (exposé) about Adam's many sins through the years.  One of the things in the article was what Adam did to Ashley by gaslighting her and switching Faith.

Ashley's reaction - transcript from Oct 2:

Ashley: Jack, everything Billy published is the truth. And it's a little distressing being reminded of that difficult time, but... it's not gonna break me.

Jack: Wait. I would think you'd be a lot more upset about this.

Ashley: I don't know what happened in Kansas, and I don't know what happened in Vegas, but I do know that during that time in Genoa City, Adam is 1,000% responsible for every single last thing that he's been accused of. And the cruelty that he inflicted on people, namely me, only proves that he's impervious to human suffering -- except, of course, his own suffering. And isn't that the very definition of a sociopath?

Jack: You of all people are entitled to that point of view.

Ashley: Yes, thank you. I am. And I'm sorry if Faith is hurt by this, and it's unfortunate if Victor suffers any blowback. But all Billy did -- [ Scoffs ] All he did was peel back the curtain on a vile, contemptible human being. So whatever happens to Adam, he had it coming.

    • Same here.  "Laugh-In" reruns on Nick-at-Nite helped me through the Gulf War.
    • Tessa clarified a few years ago that she is gay and not bi.   I find it offensive that the show is teasing her with Daniel. Mariah told Sharon she went emotionally/mentally to a dark place, and while she was out of town on business she got drunk and did something bad.  But Mariah didn't say she cheated.  The show wants us to assume that, but she didn't say that.  She could have taken drugs or who knows what.  All we know is that she feels shame and doesn't want Tessa to know.  Mariah says the inner darkness is due to the longterm influence of Ian in the past, and she hasn't healed from that. With a *good* writer, we could have organic conflict in the Teriah marriage, without cheating.  But JG isn't a good writer.
    • Was that before his accident? I think it was. Most of us have never seen him before it happened.
    • I wonder if Falcon Crest wasn't seen as macho enough for them.  I first saw Dynasty on FX around 1994 or 1995. I think it ran for a few years, although I may be off as I moved and lost the channel for a while.
    • -- The fact that we know the mess that Billy made when he renovated the Chancellor place makes his entire sadsack attitude pathetic. I wanted someone to smack the hell out of him. -- And why did Diane care so much about Billy's opinion beyond hearing he liked it better before? Why continue pressing him on it? Josh Griffith clearly thinks this is a storyline, and it isn't. It never was. -- So Mariah cheated on Tessa offscreen. OF COURSE it was offscreen. Then we got this ridiculous, convoluted explanation of why she cheated, ending in her announcement that she doesn't have any character at all. GMAFB.  -- Now we'll get the cliche garbage of Mariah confessing to Tessa, who turns to Daniel for sex even though she's a lesbian. (Please spare me the comment that Tessa is bi.) -- The excuse for Summer leaving town? Also pathetic. Why in the hell would she have to leave town to find a new creative director for Marchetti?
    • I vaguely recall it surfaced on either TNT or TBS around 1993 or so but I could be wrong about the channel. By 1997 when this article was written Knots was still airing on TNT, Dallas was on the old TNN network (which today is Paramount), and Dynasty was on…well I don’t even recall now but feel like it was either E!  or Bravo. TNN ran Dukes of Hazzard and Dallas together in the evenings for years surprised they didn’t just pick up FC to resurrect the trifecta.
    • I think you're thinking of the dress she wore on April 15 from her Ebony cover shoot when Andre had to put her in bed.
    • @Maximthank you for such a thoughtful reply. I have printed it out so I have it with me as I watch most of the soap clips on the YT app on my TV. I've always wanted to get into Edge of Night, but I didn't no where to start.
