NEW YORK (May 20, 2020) — The 47th Annual Daytime Emmy® Awards will be presented in a two-hour special on Friday, June 26 (8:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, CBS and the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) today announced. This will mark the 14th time CBS has broadcast the Daytime Emmys®, more than any other network.

“The Daytime Emmys are coming home,” said Adam Sharp, President & CEO of NATAS. “For generations, daytime television has been a source of comfort and continuity that’s never been more important. We’re delighted to join with CBS in celebrating the programs and professionals who never cease to brighten our days.”

“As a leader in Daytime, we are thrilled to welcome back the Daytime Emmy Awards,” said Jack Sussman, Executive Vice President, Specials, Music and Live Events for CBS. “Daytime television has been keeping viewers engaged and entertained for many years, so it is with great pride that we look forward to celebrating the best of the genre here on CBS.”

The Daytime Emmy® Awards have recognized outstanding achievement in daytime television programming since 1974. The awards are presented to individuals and programs broadcast between 2:00 am and 6:00 pm, as well as certain categories of digital and syndicated programming of similar content.

This year’s awards honor content from more than 2,700 submissions that originally premiered in calendar-year 2019, judged by a pool of 1,000 peer professionals from across the television industry. Nominees in the competition’s 100 categories will be announced tomorrow, May 21, on the CBS Daytime program “The Talk” and ETOnline.com, followed by wide release to other interested outlets.

The June 26 telecast will be produced by the National Academy and Associated Television International (ATI), which previously produced the Daytime Emmy® Awards on The CW in 2009 and CBS’ most recent broadcasts in 2010 and 2011.

“In these challenging times, daytime has been a primary influence in staying connected with its audience, entertaining them, and keeping them informed,” said 47th Annual Daytime Emmys® executive producer and director David McKenzie of Associated Television International. “We are honored to be a part of it. We are also excited for the challenge of introducing a new format that will celebrate the contributions of daytime television.”

Awards will be presented in leading categories during the telecast, with recipients and other special guests appearing from home in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Additional categories will be announced simultaneously on Twitter (@DaytimeEmmys), and others will be presented in a separate ceremony in July

They are. They would have had Love Island, Blood & Treasure. The Tony Awards and possibly the first week of Big Brother in June. Now all of that is on hold. All they have for June are the series finales of Man with a Plan and Broke, plus one new show, Game On.

Good for the Daytime Emmy's not only getting uncancelled but to get back on network television. Even if CBS is desperate for content.

Personally I don't think I've watched a full Daytime Emmy's ceremony since that year GL and Y&R tied for Best Show. I watched a little of that CW ceremony but changed it when I saw Tamara Braun won for some crap role on Days. I think I saw five minutes of one on the POP network that looked super cheesy, otherwise I just read the aftermath usually.

I haven't watched the Daytime Emmys since 2011. I just followed the discussions here all the years since. They were so much more fun than watching the actual ceremony

    • Per recent Twitch live: Wraps filming his new film on Friday. Begins a new film on May 19. Will resume regular Twitch streams soon. Has a lot of projects coming out later this year. His current project has kept him in Tennessee longer than he was meant to be.
    • Has BTG been using flashbacks much? Of course, as a new show there aren't many f/b worthy moments but I think they can get by w/o having to use/recreate the Leslie reveal scene. What other 'soap' tropes have they employed or ignored so far? We've talked about the lack of traditional cliffhangers with lingering camera shots. They have done a couple of fantasy scenes. Has anyone apart from Dana had talk to themselves scenes? Montages?
    • Thank You!!! @rsclassicfanforever and to anyone else who contributed to the vaults over the years. I have dipped in/out and gotten my life watching Y&R early years. I never would had the appreciation for characters like Lorie Brooks if not for the Vaults, so again, Thanks.
    • Another lot of skipped episodes to look forward to when the time comes on Videoland. So annoying. They have skipped so many, especially in  season 15 where they skipped 19 episodes throughout the season. Is it just me or is the vault down? It's like a different error message this time so it's hard to know if it's me this time.
    • thank you for uploading the rest of season 12!!! I hope i can get them soon the links down! Thank you again for posting the B&B classic episodes to revisit!!!!
    • Hmm, okay.  BTW, my only problem with Kai & the surgery story is where is this guy's family? And, another BTW, I think I may have inadvertently added to that rumor from last year about a male descendant of Justus Ward. You see, that is an idea I could really get behind! Like I would pay to see those scenes. And, true, I did hear it ... [sheepish grin]

Yes they can. While rare, its not like soaps in the past havent said F that and used flashbacks of a scene even when a recast has been done. OLTL used to do that
    • Well, I am glad to know that & for it to make sense, so thanks for the info &  the perspective, also. At the end of AMC 1.0, I thought the new young talent was really quite good, but I missed Eden & NuBianca just ... well, I wasn't 100% sold on her & Bianca was so important to me. But then, Tad & Dixie were also important & yep, there's another problem, for me I mean. I'm not your typical AMC fan but I hung in there anyway. I know what you mean because it wasn't as good as it once had been but it was still Agnes's show in Pine Valley. Some of that is a bittersweet nostalgic clinging to the past, I guess. By that time I'd been through so many show cancellations. AW, Santa Barbara, PC, The City, GL, ATWT.

Betsy Snyder, when she was at DAYS was part of the WGA winning writing team before she died, tragically far too young.
    • Yep Edmund and Tad went under cover to infiltrate the... Willow Lake (I think?) old folks community scandal that was exploiting Phoebe, etc.  (Which at one point led to Edmund rescuing Brooke from quicksand--common around Pine Valley I guess

) EDIT maybe I'm wrong.  I found the quicksand scene

But for the story all I can find is Edmund going undercover as the gigolo "preying" on older women, Eduardo (no one would recognize him with that disguise and name ) so the drag must have been.. a different story?
