Monavie. Shivers. I do feel his leaving and coming back from Y&R has mellowed him so I can believe that.

Well, you got it...just not with SBu's Jason.

I was such a Jason/Robin fan and loathed SJB Carly messing that up.

Even as a Liason fan (and I admit that I liked Greasy Black/White Ball Hair...don't shoot me), I saw more in common with McBain and Sam vs Jason and Sam outside of the opportunity to see Liz get back with him. Perhaps it is because ME and KM played one of my favorite couples. I loved Livvie and Caleb together...they fit perfectly once she went bad girl and I have fun memories (and live for the day it shows up on YT again with the original song Delirum's FLOWERS BECOME SCREEN) of the masquerade ball from the Naked Eyes arc on PC when they crossed past and had those other live flashbacks as they were dancing. shivers and just that timeless Vampire love vibe. Rumbling. lol. But I felt they had an easy chemistry and just fit better given the things going on in their lives.

I also thought he looked great with his longer hair, but it wasn’t butch enough for mob Jason apparently.

Yes, it did kind of coincide with his marriage now that I think about it.  But still, look at Kelly.  Nobody is letting her not be in a bikini.  It’s just another example of a double standard.  Again, his clothes were not even fitted until he came back under Valentini.

The men on GH have fought so many romantic pairings it is ridiculous.  Steve did it, Tyler did it.  Tony (mostly not wanting to be paired with Laura again, but still).

Liz/Jason/Sam/Lucky could have been that generations Lesley/Rick/Monica/Alan.  But key performers (mostly Steve) have reportedly pushed back against it several times.

I lived for SJB's Carly whenever she called Robin 'St. Robin.' Like in the spat 2:20 in.

I mostly just miss the nuance SJB brought to the role....

I liked them as rivals because Robin wasn’t the normal good girl trope on soaps, she had been through it and was tough, and SJB’s Carly had that vulnerability that made you root for her even when she was a nightmare to everyone else.

That's what I miss about Carly. LW's portrayal just makes her unbearable. Doesn't help that they've had her bring up Robin's HIV status to her face. Disgusting.

Today’s classic shows just how much the creative team at the time needed a change.  They finally got Vanessa back and subjected us to this.  With all this emotion on display, the show should not feel this lethargic.

I do think this is maybe the best speech about himself that Sonny has ever delivered in his entire run on the show.  The power he knows will always be there.  Even if he has to fight for it.  Because the love, even if he fights for it, won’t last or stay.  That’s why he will always choose power.

If this is the episode I'm thinking of, it's some of Maurice's last, best work and it's the reason I've said ever since that there is no point pairing Sonny with anyone unless the character chooses to fundamentally change. If he won't do it for Brenda, he'll do it for no one. It was an incredible scene.

It is probably MB's last, best work.  It was actually probably the best VM/MB scene in her return because it made sense for both characters and was well acted.  The fundamental issues in their relationship were still there even if the love still was as well.  The JaSam stuff is pretty silly compared to the emotion of Sonny and Brenda.  Also it had some good Jax stuff with him saying goodbye to little Morgan.

Not sure where to put this but this Maurice interview is interesting. He seems to shade some co-stars for not plugging his book and while he compliments DZ as an actor he also calls him insecure

    • There are no dumb questions here, we've all known each other long enough to fill in information without shaming each other.  We want you to be happy @carolineg.  Your POV as one of the few women here is vital. So, please, I hope you never feel as if any question, idea, or opinion is ever silly or stupid.  Your daily reminders about the realities of manicure and menstrual management has become a part of the personality of this thread. As for Hank, while I'm confident there's a plan in place.  It is frustrating that they announce these casting so far in advance that it is tough as an audience and wait it out until the thing happens.  I'm happy they didn't blow it the second Mike was in town, a week after meeting Liam. So, it is a slow burn.
    • I think his full name is Chadwick.  I remember, back when the previous actor was playing him, someone called him Chadwick a couple of times.  It may have been Stefano.
    • I didn't like those two sleeping together, but I suuure liked seeing BF in them. Wiggle and all. Just sad about the waxing of the chest.   Same.
    • It’s strange. I wonder if the writers at that time had worked with him somewhere else and had a relationship? That time is murky AF to find info on. Rachel Ames in effect left the show at one point in the early 80’s and she is credited like she was there until JFP. Tristan Rogers also took various contract breaks that were not short, and websites also credit him one long stint from 1981-1992. So many people come and go in short succession in 1982-part of 1983. I know they lost a lot of viewers when Genie left, but the show somehow survived yearly at number one through like sheer force of will.
    • In that way, at least we were fortunate.  The Daniel Pilon/Ron Raines decisions...not so much.
    • Letting Brennan put it in yet again while smirking over his shoulder... any day now! She's got him just where she wants him! I do think ol' Jack will be dead by February at the absolute latest. They have set him up as a counter-heavy to Sidwell, forcing poor Joss to work his next scheme or threatening to have her sent down for treason. Once he croaks I still deeply fear we will be subject to Valentin and Carly, partners in crime to lovers, possibly out to find out 'who killed Jack'. Anna was at her best keeping Sonny at arm's length and often somewhat cold, which she only really did (for better or worse) off and on during Carlivati's tenure. But Finola gradually got too emotional over Sonny, Jason, etc. and was allowed to do that onscreen too much long ago. Mulcahey brought some of that steel back, though Finola still managed to choke or quietly sob through some of that material as Anna found her way there lol. She's a brilliant actress and she did a good job with that stuff in '24, but now we're back to the same old and it humiliates the character whether she knows it or not.
    • Listen, I am all for Laura Wright wearing silly wigs and glasses if there was a point.  So far she's just been nice to Brennan and made out with him.  How evil lol!!  Even though I have been told Brennan loves her the writing was never there.  It's so low stakes.  Carly should maybe talk to her daughter and have an adult conversation instead. Laura and Anna look foolish.  I really don't have an issue with either being friendly or at least having some affection for Sonny.  I don't get both of them wanting to have a parade to announce how much they love him and how valuable the friendship is.  C'mon, Laura basically tolerated Sonny because of Luke until Lulu/Dante got together.  Anna likes Sonny because Robin did?  There really isn't much more of a reason for Anna to give him the time of day besides that.  They aren't lifelong buddies.
    • It is so dumb and is dragging on already after a couple weeks. By the time Carly wraps this up Joss will be running the local branch office. And yes, Laura deserves better. It's like they tripled down on this Sonny apologia stuff with her and Anna after the Mulcahey saga.
