Wednesday, July 22, 2020 (Tues CDN)
(Original US airdate: March 12, 1993)
Newlyweds Neil and Dru celebrate their union with family and friends.
Michael plots his revenge against Cricket.

^ description from Daytime Confidential (maybe from a press release?)

I just watched it on the playlist.
What a watered down description!

What actually happens:

Neil and Dru's wedding reception and wedding night.

Michael spends the entire episode breaking through the wall, brick by brick, into Christine's apartment, declaring how he will make her pay. He is quite scary. He breaks through and the episode ends.

I’m excited for episode 2! I’ve seen 1 and also when they had the current cast read the script so I know that episode in and out. I’ve always wondered what came next. For years CBS All Access has had the first 25 episodes of B&B. I’d love something like that for Y&R. Especially for a soap I feel you need to see the full first 5 episodes if you mean to treat it like a proper pilot. I look forward to meeting Jill and seeing more of Diedre Hall. One shocker since it’s fan favorite week is that they didn’t do two Katherine episodes from the 70s. EVERYBODY knows the Katherine/Phillip story whether you’re a newer or older viewer.

Beyond that I’m excited to see the facelift as well. Curious who else is in the episode and hoping for Brenda Dickson! The Dru/Neil episode I recently watched, but I just love that they’re focusing on them for a fan favorite week. It’s a very good episode. The end of Michael’s original story was excellent. I loved how Nina got thrown into it as well. Just a little extra touch many wouldn’t think to do, but it was so much better than had he actually raped her.

I just really need them to not do the film processing on those 70s episodes. Did they ever do it on any others besides that one 80s ep from a few weeks ago? I can see them thinking "These are old, we have to make them look more modern." No, you're literally ruining the aesthetic.

Oh that would be golden to see Lol

And the fact that they can pull the first 2 episodes out of there vault, means they probably have majority of the other lost episodes that haven't been aired since its orginal run.

    • Sorry, I don't know the non-AW ones. In addition to the 2x Cass disguised himself as Krystle (1984 to hide from Tony Jones, 1994 investigating Felicia's disappearance), there was one occasion in October 1987 where Cass imposter Rex Allingham dressed as a woman and, claiming to be Nicole's Aunt Blanche, disrupted her date with another man. (At the time I don't think the audience yet knew that it wasn't Cass.)
    • THANK YOU SO MUCH. If there was any way we could sticky this post or make it so we don't forget where it is. I'm going to bookmark it for sure! AND WOW... Season 15 - nearly a whole month of skipped episodes. LOL.
    • JFP was only as strong as her writers, which is why her output got worse and worse when she decided she was the only writer anyone needed. They could have easily had a decent short-term story with Lando - maybe cast him as a terminal patient at Cedars, or a long-lost Bauer or Reardon who would leave town after his story is done and possibly return at a later date with a recast. He might become close to Ed and Michelle, similar to how Ed had taken Kelly under his wing years earlier. Maybe he could have been tied to Maureen's death, somehow - maybe we'd learn, after he ingratiated himself to everyone in Springfield, that he accidentally ran Maureen off the road during the storm. And when he realizes this he would, in shame, leave town, maybe leaving some Springfield lady devastated if they were about to get married (this could have worked with a better Mindy recast, or maybe a brand new character).
    • Notes I've made of skipped or faulty YouTube episodes are (I'll put in brackets the faulty ones, the rest are skipped episodes), that would be amazing if they could be replaced by higher quality Netherlands copies when they become available:

S13: 3170, 3172, 3181 (faulty), 3203 (faulty), 3223 (faulty), 3255, 3278 (faulty), 3345, 3361 (faulty) S14: 3399, 3455 (faulty), 3479 (faulty), 3509 (faulty), 3555 (faulty end credits), 3580, 3600 (faulty), 3613 (faulty) S15: 3658 (faulty), 3667, 3668, 3669, 3670, 3674, 3678, 3679, 3681, 3682, 3684, 3685, 3686, 3690, 3692, 3694, 3696, 3697, 3699, 3709 S16: 4058, 4059, 4109 S17: 4137, 4194, 4262, 4284, 4358, 4362, 4371 S18 so far skipped: 4450, 4451. There may be further S18 episodes to replace in English if there are any further skips on YouTube, as many episodes from this season are just in German in the vault, and if they skip those, then we probably have to wait for an eventual Netherlands airing unless someone currently has them in English (currently the German ones needing to replace to full English for S18 are: 4477, 4485, 4486, 4492, 4493, 4494, 4497, 4514, 4515, 4518, 4520, 4522, 4523, 4524, 4526, 4531, 4538, 4541, 4575, 4612 - hopefully YouTube will not skip these, and they won't be a problem to fix). Also, jumping ahead a bit to future seasons, but does anyone have full English speaking copies of any of 4852, 4897, 5275, 5308, 5590, 5591, 5594 (as these are not in full or at all in English in the vault as far as I can tell)? Many thanks if you do! A million thank yous to all Angels helping out with these.

    • I found the reference in the AWHP synopses -- it was 1995 but not directly related to the loanshark.

    • One of the dumbest situations (Lando) ever. What audience member is going to invest in a storyline with a recast they don't like and a triangle where one character is short-term? It bombed as it should have done. So much of JFP's tenure just reeks of desperation. I don't get how someone could produce SB (which did have flaws but was often brilliant) but make so many terrible mistakes at GL.   I still think JFP would have worked better as a director and music supervisor. Her music work at SB was top notch.  It just seems that Rea was minimized during JFP's tenure because I can't imagine her okaying so many of these casting choices.

    • We see the same with GH, where Mark Teschner, the casting director, reportedly has less say since Frank Valentini took over. Some producers want to take over every aspect of their shows.  I think Lando may have been a CBS push.
