Members Faulkner
Yes, I was going to ask about this. Frame rate change? Oof. This “film” effect makes this sumptuous show look like a cheap foreign ‘70s drama on PBS. Make it stop.
Members Soapsuds
Steven Ford is so yummy. The way Doug looked at him. I wish they had gone there with the two best friends.
Members kalbir
I got the feeling that the music was changed for the Victor/Ashley dance scene.
Members watson71
The audio is off too- the dialogue doesn't match their mouths moving- looks like a foreign movie that was dubbed into English. I wonder why they did this.
Members All My Shadows
It better be the only time, too. The excitement of watching classic episodes on TV or DVD is that you get to see them look nice and smooth, the way they originally aired. Today's episode looked like it came from the internet, which obviously as soap fans, that's how we watch most old episodes anyway, but if it's going to be on TV, I want my videotaped programs to look like they were done on videotape. Members ChickenNuggetz92
It looks like the frame rate was dropped from 60 fps to 24 fps. On a side note, I've always had an inkling that Jerry Douglas had a face lift in the mid-late 80s - but I didn't realize they wrote it into the story! Members janea4old
It's the same as the original. "Tales from the Vienna Woods".
Members BoldRestless
Usually the actors are dancing without music so the microphones can pick up dialogue, and then music is added later. That's why a lot of times it seems like they're not really dancing to the music.
Members pdm1974
Was that what those scenes were about then. I thought they felt so odd with Joanna telling John he should have plastic surgery. It felt random...and kinda insulting on her part. Please register in order to view this content Joanna never really seemed to take off as a character. I wonder if it's true that Bell had written the part of Stephanie on B&B with her in mind. Maybe that's why he never really invested in Joanna if he had SSH in mind for that role. Members All My Shadows
Mustn’t inflict “the dreaded soap opera effect” on actual soap operas that actually were made with that look in mind. It’s stupid.
Members kalbir
Jerry Douglas was 54 in 1986 and he didn't look like he needed any work at that time. I think he had some eye work sometime in the 1990s. Somehow I remember an episode with a line about John looking more refreshed.
Members Aback
His hairline was also receding in the early 90s. By the late 90s he came back with a perfect hairline, but I think it was a toupee. Kinda shallow of me but I think Doug D also has worn a toupee for a long time.
Members Darn
Yes, she was offered the part and turned it down to return to Days I believe. Eilleen Davidson does not play coquettish well so seeing her that way with Victor is off-putting. I really do not like them together at all. Members pdm1974
Wow...>I bet she regrets that decision. How could she not? Stephanie was a front burner role until SF left of her own accord.
