I feel Chandler still plays Will has this insecure introvert like he did back in 2010

I saw his maggie scenes as Will being nervous & not wanting to say what she did but proding her to remember

I loved his scene with Vic. He was angry at him but I wouldnt buy for a second that Vic is gonna help Will get an earkly release

As for Freddie, I liked his anger as Sonny with Gabi as she wasnt thinking of Ari at all

At the same time, he should have dialed back the yelling and facial expressions a bit

Didn't feel like it lol. You can tell because they just aren't bothering to connect with the material. I can't say I blame them at times but at the same time ... rise above it and act your ass off. But they don't. I can see why they were both dumped, personally. I like Chandler as Will but it was time for a break.

Exactly.  Look at Macdonald Carey and Frances Reid.  I doubt they enjoyed much of what the writers did with Tom and/or Alice, post-1970's.  Yet, even when Alice was helping Bo break out of jail with a batch of bad doughnuts, or Tom was penning poetry under the name "Norm De Plume," Carey and Reid were still professional enough to make the silly material work.

@KMan101 @Khan 100% It's their job! Think of how many actors would gladly trade places with them.  It's ludicrous - every single vet has had far worse or ridiculous material than WilSon. I know a lot people give RSW a lot of flack for his limitations, but I can tell he's engaged and trying. (And, he's had a lot of terrible scripts/stories.)

Forget the straight-to-tape nonsense, I've read plenty of interviews with soap actors discussing pre-tape run throughs in dressing rooms, etc. It's not like they get handed the script and tape five minutes later.

    • I can barely remember who was the person they tested her with for the AMC revival but I *do* remember kinda liking them together (anyone remember better?  lol)  But yes, I feel the same.  It might not help that when I became a regular viewer Tad was presumed dead and she was with Craig...  I do remember that my sister's best friend had been an AMC viewer with her mom and dad and that they were very excited that Tad was returning... OK I instantly remembered that.  And now once again I'm sad about what coulda been with the reboot.
    • Well, that is weird. I do not see him but I only have him on Ignore on 2 accounts.
    • In the preview for the show back in February on Entertainment Tonight, Jeresa the costume designer was specific about each character's economic background, personality, and the character's personal fashion preferences.  Very much about the characters and not the actors. She said Eva is a thrifter, so her normal daily wardrobe would be something from a thrift store, and if BTG buys it new, they intentionally make it look used. So what you said fits about the type of thing a lower income person would buy for a fancy event.
    • As hard as it is for me to imagine anyone but Don Stewart as Mike Bauer...I dunno...maybe someone like "Adam-12"'s Kent McCord?  Or Robert Hogan?
    • Yep I don't hate Javi and then he's macking on Leo and I'm done with him. Leo is a failure who needs to go away   I am bracing myself for Alex reading the manuscript and imagining him and Stephanie as the main characters, because this couple has literally nothing else to do until Joy comes back showing
    • Oh yes. The towel scene though
    • Interesting that Donald May has been mentioned twice. He's on my dreamcast list for Alan. He was somewhat older than Stewart and Bernau, but he could have played either role. An actor I thought about for Mike was Dan Hamilton. He played a role on GL during the 60s, but enough time had passed that it shouldn't have been a problem. He usually played smarmy characters but it would have been cool if they had gone against typecasting.
    • I like Jed Allan, it has to be someone who can play authority but "good" authority to oppose Alan's bad. As mentioned upthread, can you imagine how it would have been with Alan and Mike against each other, with Roger in the mix. But I would have had Roger, ever the opportunist to try to take advantage of their fighting to make his own headway.  Maybe that could have been the storyline, Mike involved with Alex, but the constant fighting with Alan causes a rift (she like Mike fighting Alan when it is to her advantage, but he can be a bit self righteous and I can see him demanding her to disavow Alan publicly..) so that is how Roger lands in her bed, much to the consternation of BOTH Alan and Mike. I would like to have a woman of a certain age being fought over by two men (really three if you count Alan.
    • Please let May have less garbage time. The Y&R threads have shrunken, whereas I can barely keep up with the Beyond the Gates threads.
