1950's - saddling a young, beautiful and intelligent cop with an unexpected pregnancy as punishment for a one-nighter. I'm glad they ended a story that should've never happened. The only thing I liked during this S/L was Julie/Eli scenes (wish there were more).

Considering Eli is mixed race, I doubt the 1/4 (Eli) to 1/2 (JJ) had anything to do with it. The baby would've still be biracial and come from legacy families.

Not sure why some folks are shocked at moRon's actions.  He removed the story from the story at the start.  What kind of drama is there when everyone knows JJ isn't the father before Lani even shows?  moRon is working OT to remove the black folks from the Hortons (MTHWA).

He tells a "Only White and Blue Lives Matter" story and then promptly removes the black male involved from the canvas as the characters and viewers feel bad for JJ.  Made Abe look like a fool for being upset with an innocent man.  Then to have POC rooting for this jackass HW to receive an Emmy?!  WTF?!

I have always loathed moRon, but I gave him a chance with Days.  He proved me right again, and it didn't even take long!

The ballsier choice would have been to still allow viewers to sympathize with both characters (and oh yeah, keep Theo on the show) but ultimately reveal that J.J., while well intentioned, made a real unforced error as a cop and now must better himself.

It's an excellent story idea, but I never had much faith DAYS of all shows could write it.

(Tooting my own sad-ass fanfic horn, it does remind me of when I'd had a police brutality arc in mind at OLTL in the 2000s featuring the often volatile Antonio Vega coming to grips with his own issues by facing a far more brutal and dangerous celebrated veteran cop played by... Stephen Nichols.)

I don't think that Lani/Eli have chemistry but I do wish that their baby would have lived. It would have been nice watching Julie/Abe/Val fuss over their great grandchild/grandchild. That would have been a nice addition to their families. Plus, with the loss of the baby it feels like this storyline was an entire waste. It doesn't feel like there was any payoff to this storyline. All it did IMO was succeed in breaking up two couples who had more chemistry than Lani/Eli. Even worse IMO that there are spoilers that say that

I wonder where the writers will go from here. I do think that Lani/JJ might make their way back to each other. I would have rather this have possibly happened with the baby living. I do think that JJ could have learned to love Lani/Eli's baby as his own.

moRon Carlivati!  You shouldn't be surprised.  In a year, look at what he's done to the black characters - gradually removed them from any integral part of the canvas.  Didn't need the baby because he's not going to write for the parents, so why not kill it, show the Hortons coming together and then move on.

    • I'm more than convinced she's a relative of Hayley after seeing this.

The resemblance is too uncanny.  Now if they can just persuade Debbi Morgan to play their mom we've hit the motherload.
    • It's hard to say about MBE's following.  Katherine was a mess from the start and diametrically opposite of Kayla.  Both Nina and Ava were messes too, but the material was more in their wheelhouse.  Plus, both came frome cancelled shows so that was the only option for their fans.
    • As limited as the actor who plays Tomas is, after today, I'm really excited to see the Eva/Tomas/Kat triangle pick up some speed. And, I was thinking that I wasn't gonna have to resurrect this hashtag, but yeah #FreeSmitty

    • ICAM.  KL needed to end in '93.  I'm just glad David Jacobs resisted CBS' efforts to convince him otherwise.

    • Dear Paula Cwikly and Jeanne Marie Ford,   Please write out the character of Leo Stark. It would be greatly appreciated.   Sincerely, Soapsuds
    • Oh my -- long time ago, huh??  What was the actual storyline? Here's what I recall: Susan was married to David Martin and had his baby, Dickie.  David allowed Dickie to fall off a swing-set or something, and Dickie was killed.  So a distraught Susan shot and killed David.  Julie had been having sex with David Martin, and was pregnant with his child when Susan killed him.  Then Julie named her newborn child David.  And that was really what began the big feud between Susan and Julie.  I KNOW I have a lot of this history wrong -- so anyone please feel free to correct my historical errors.  I would appreciate that very much.   Now back to Denise's Another World connection.  Although I loved Denise as an actress, I was never crazy about Mary McKinnon.  Mostly because of her completely unbelievable introduction -- two back-from-the-dead characters returning in the SAME storyline. It seemed ridiculous, and was just a bit too much for me to accept.

    • Denise had so much inherent warmth, yet also layered her work with neuroses and emotion, making sure her characters were never as one-dimensional as the writing could have been. She was one of the first high profile poachings from one soap to another, which could have been a recipe for disaster, but she worked hard and turned Lesley into such an integral part of GH's rebuilding. The show may not have survived the '70s without her.  I wish they'd done more with Lesley when they brought her back in 1996. I hope more of Denise's run at DAYS will appear. I enjoyed Denise's work on AW, in a very underwritten part - it felt like she was just hitting her stride in playing the role when she left.  We are losing so many of our legends, but in moments like this I try to just be grateful we had them for as long as we did.  I do feel terrible for those at GH as they've been hit hard the last few years.
