Hilary's through line is fighting (read, scheming)  to get the things she wants in life but never getting nor keeping it if she gets it because of the very methods (read schemes) she employs. She's beautiful, smart, talented and the world should be her oyster. But because she's self sabotaging, it's not.  If this was a movie, she'd learn from her mistakes and finally win out. Because this is a soap, this cycle will continue indefinitely with her never truly learning. She will have short periods of happiness but will eventually self sabotage again with her schemes to lose it all...only to have to fight (read, scheme) to get it back again.

Devon is only supporting to Hilary's story so he will never have a defined through line. He's a plot point. Sadly. He's something for Hilary to win or lose. Something to fight for in her story. He has no real motivations or POV for anything her does.

With that said, yes, what you describe is going to happen. Expecting it not to is like expecting Nikki not to enter a real marriage with victor again. They've had the exact same dynamic of victor screwing over their family  and Nikki angry and leaving  him only to return again for a good 15 years real time now.

I wish the show had chosen something else for Hilary. Mostly because the show makes her the villain in every story she gets which makes it impossible for viewers to root for her. If they insist on telling this repetitive frustrating story, the least they can do is make the character sympathetic and rootable so that viewers can feel something other than contempt stemming from year after year watching the character make the same mistakes.

agreed on all points. IMO, the only way to do this is a slow burn. she has to remain sympathetic for a while now. I expect her to do something foul, be cursed out, dumped, and then forgiven and given another chance. and I can't say it's just MY, because the last two, maybe 3 HWs have written her like this. I see the show is trying to give characters layers now, but she seems to be left out of this particular loop. I'm not naive by no means, but I can't understand it. I have a theory, but won't say it here. it will cause 10 pages of comments with members getting into arguments. LOL

I watched Wednesday (US) at my mom's place.

Finally, Lauren actually having a realistic motivation. Her scenes with Phyllis and Billy were great. I loved her dismissing "John's legacy" saying that Fenmore's was her legacy and reminding Phyllis who writes her checks and she better vote for the IPO, etc.

The TL/AH scenes were fantastic. Now I remember why I was such a JT/Vicky stan - they really well together.

Camryn Grimes is an absolute treat. Give her a freakin' storyline already.

Watching the scenes at Victoria's place makes you appreciate how good the female cast is at Y&R. The must've had such a blast during filming.

Y&R has become Fusion era All My Children.

Just now?

Today’s ending felt... false. Like a “Very Special Episode” of Y&R. Like others have mentioned, this is the budget version of BLL’s costume party finale.

I have to agree. I love to see the ladies getting along but this marks the second time they have gotten a bunch of women together in a room for support when it doesn't make a lick of sense for the characters' histories with each other.

Spoiler

So Nikki kills JT with a fireplace poker? How many people has this woman killed? (Not that I blame her here.)

I feel like someone here guessed he’d be Nikki’s latest victim. It’s actually getting comical.

On yesterday’s episode, and Victoria totally ignored that JT would’ve been prosecuted for covering for Nikki.

Phyllis had things to do when Sharon was on the sidelines doing nothing. She doesn't need Sharon to be relevant. If anything, having Phyllis obsessed with nick gives Sharon a foe to win out over and prove she's "strong and sane" when otherwise she'd be playing needy  teen ingenue to Nick's Tim the Tool Man Taylor. Something we just saw and most complained about.

OMG
