I could have bought Marisa with Noah had they played her as an opportunist/gold digger. But they did the same for him that they've done for every male, except devon. No matter how unlikely, they write is as though women can see past the money that these men posses to the man underneath it all and love the man, not the money. Devon is the only one they've allowed to be seen as less than a catch. 

 

Victor and the prison doctor is the worst example of this.

I didn't mind the Nick & Newman stuff so much (even if the pacing dragged & MO was terrible) because it's a nice change to see them acting like a family but the Dylan stuff was excruciating. Between the cheap sets, the lack of background music & Burton's mumbling it was like watching a bad school play.

Another thing that stood out was Y&R's elimination of friendships & tertiary characters. It's weird to watch veteran Y&R characters having important conversations with their kids. None of these middle aged people have friends anymore so they're stuck confiding their dating woes and marital problems to college kids.
