July 8, 201411 yr Member Did they officially get rid of Mason or did he just fade into the blackground? I'm not sure (lol) but Brotherman is definitely not currently getting a paycheck from Y&R. Such a shame, at the very least, Mason and Alejandro provided some much needed flavor on this show!
July 8, 201411 yr Member Whenever these dudes show up, or some of the Evanses on OLTL on ABC, I always hear that Ne-Yo song in my head.
July 8, 201411 yr Member That was the first thought that came to mind when I saw BJ too! Of that dreadful Quad, I do think that MCE is trying the most. It's too early for me to get a read on how/if she will make things work w/ BJ but I felt she made things work with BM and I was surprised how well she and DT worked together. The Jack and Kelly pairing is going Nowhere. Does anyone else feel that the writers are just marking time until Phyllis returns? At least Doug Davidson is getting something to do? I guess? Devon and Hillary are probably the most interesting thing going, not really for the writing though. The writers should have made Mason a factor instead of writing him off as a grifter. Having Neil in there...there's no payoff for me. They've turned Hillary into an insecure housewife already, wanting to pop out babies and hang on to her man. The only glimmer of interest is that her motives are for all the wrong reasons. What irks me is that some will now claim the ratings drop is due to no BM, MM nor MS but their absences just remind me that Y&R spent so much focus on them that they hardly know how to write decent stories for the rest of the cast. The only thing about Jack and Kelly is that keeping her means they might retire Jack as some romantic leading man. Something that should have happened 10 years ago at least. The issue with Neil/Hilary/Devon is that no mater what motivations they give or how they twist the story, I still dont see why she latched on to Neil. Devon makes far more sense regardless!
July 8, 201411 yr Member Vice President of CBS Daytime: David Tom/Burgess Jenkins ‘Y&R’ Recast Was a ‘Hard Decision’ These quotes by CBS brass IMHO is just crap and sit & Spin. Just tell the TRUTH The "truth"? No matter what she said, you and others would have a problem with it. Why you think she should say "We didn't like the other guy" is beyond me. NO executive responds that way, and she wouldn't have her job long if she did. Why viewers think they deserve some special answers from CBS about the Billy recast, The Michael Muhney situation, or anything else is something I'll never understand. With Burgess Jenkins, the show OBVIOUSLY went more mature -- and no, I don't mean old. BJ is NOT old no matter how many times angry viewers spit it out. Jenkins isn't Billy Miller, and isn't intended to be; they know they can't hire another BM, so they're literally taking the character in another direction. Jenkins has good chemistry with MCE, and they showed it in today's episode. Sure didn't look too old for her in those scenes.
July 8, 201411 yr Member Did they officially get rid of Mason or did he just fade into the blackground? Lamon Archey had none exit just like Julia Pace Mitchell.

So that mature reasoning is a crock of [!@#$%^&*]. BJ is not playing Billy more mature at all. And he does look older than Billy should be, Maybe if they would stop the extreme closeups of his face. The show is doing BJ no favors. Im sure he would rock the right role. However Billy Abbot is not the right role for him Edited July 8, 201411 yr by John
July 8, 201411 yr Member I kind of miss Sophia, I know that's unpopular but I thought JPM was improving.

Yes, literally towards death by natural causes. And don't kid yourself, they're desperate to get Miller back. This guy is a stop-gap. They're flailing. Edited July 8, 201411 yr by Vee
July 8, 201411 yr Member I kind of miss Sophia, I know that's unpopular but I thought JPM was improving. I kind of miss Sophia too. I just felt that her sleeping with Neil was what killed the character for me. I grow tired of the Barber/Winters clan sharing spouses. I would've loved if the writers would've explored her working relationship with Tucker even more and had them rival Victor or Jack in the boardroom.
July 8, 201411 yr Member Sophia had chemistry with Cane, but she was WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too young and she read far too young to be with Neil or Malcolm. At least Hilary has a certain maturity, but Sophia looked Julia Pace's age, which was 23. She should've been brought on as a friend of Lily and be treated as if she were Lily's age.
July 8, 201411 yr Member I always thought she read like an amateur fan who had won a contest and somehow a multi-year contract. As an actress I found her deeply strange and off-putting.
July 8, 201411 yr Member I kind of miss Sophia, I know that's unpopular but I thought JPM was improving. Away from the Winters abomination, Neil and Eddie Winslow, Sophia could have been a great character, but JPM was gonna be toast with JFP due to the weight.
