I agree. This isn't the Bruenings' first time at this particular rodeo. They've worked on other soaps in the past. (Well, ONE other soap). They know the assignment.
Of course, Amanda Setton knows the assignment, too. Yet, there she is, star of the latest GH spinoff, "I Married an Inuit."
Yep. And all they really did in the end was enable her rather than force her to receive the help she obviously needs. No one, not even the Almighty Frank Valentini, should keep someone battling mental illness employed just because they're afraid of that individual harming themselves or others if they don't. That's not fair to that person or to their colleagues.
Furthermore, while I certainly appreciate how hard it is for Maurice Benard to give his all performance-wise while managing HIS delicate mental condition daily, again, it's not GH's or the network's responsibility to keep him employed or to make the workload easier for him just because Maurice himself is afraid he wouldn't be able to cope with it all if he actually were let go. It's as if Maurice is on the roof of the Prospect Studios and threatening to jump as everyone begs and pleads with him not to. It's selfish and it's not at all something that I, myself, would respond well to either. (Which explains why I don't volunteer to work on suicide hotlines, lol).
If your work is the only thing that's keeping you from eating your gun, then guess what? You need help. Seriously. And after you've gotten that help, you need to decide whether, in fact, you're cut out for that line of work. If you are, great. If you're not, then go do something else.
