I always enjoyed the cutting of the Hubbard squash on the Snider farm at Thanksgiving. But did they ever indicate what they did with the squash after they cut it? Did they make a squash pie, or make baked squash? Or did they just toss it in the trash after cutting it?

LOL.....no, I don't think so. But I always thought it was strange they seemed to cut it right before dinner, when it would take hours to bake it in the oven. Especially in that tiny oven of Emma's, that had to be in use for hours to produce all that food!

Oh how I hated that the Snyders were the only family left with a kitchen, when Bob and Kim of all people had to do all their eating in Lisa's hotel. I loved the ridiculousness of people just walking in and out of Bob and Kim's house at all hours of the day and night. Never felt the same way about the Snyders but glad someone like them and they kept some traditions. I wonder if NY production staff and writers thought kitchens were passe or two...midwestern?

Well, as you know, they took away Bob and Kim's entire house, which was the worst decision they could have ever made. I'll admit the set was huge and included a large staircase. But if it were too big to be practical, there should have been some way to make it smaller. The Hughes could have done a remodeling, or could have had a small fire, or even a tornado. And the rebuild could have been smaller. I hated that the Hughes family had to spend all their holidays in restaurants or at Tom and Margo's home after around 2001.

I was watching a bit of GH during the aftermath of Monica's death, and the Quatermaine house and kitchen look great and huge. Now I know it is filmed in California but come on, ATWT could have afforded a nice house, or at least a kitchen set for their tentpole couple. The Bauers kept their house until Rauch left and they still had a kitchen to the end, and there were hardly any Bauers left...(and the kitchen was severely cut up during Wheeler...though in one episode they incorporated that cool living room fireplace in the kitchen set which I actually liked...a kind of family room kitchen would work and solve a lot of space issues. Tom and Margos was kind of like that..though how the characters were played at taht time did not make it seem like their house would be the one people liked to hang out at.

I agree -- videos and entire channels can be taken down from YouTube without any notice. Knowing this, over the years I've downloaded every Marland-era episode (the only period I wish to keep) that I can find. Currently, I have just over 800. I'm glad I did this because many episodes have already disappeared from YouTube.

Once ATWT moved to AW’s studios in Brooklyn, there were two studios. The Cory mansion on AW had a foyer, living room, and a terrace and remained until the last episode of the show. Could the Hughes’ home been damaged in transport to Brooklyn because there was definitely space to have the set in Brooklyn? Or TPTB just thought the set wasn’t important anymore, like the veteran actors that were neglected in the last years of the show. For a show that had so many veteran actors in tact, the show wasted using them effectively in those last years, especially Lisa.

Who is the guy coming on to Mary and letting her know "Everyone turns him on..." wow, Oakdale has a swinger!

Seems to be another guy who was harassing Carol (poor Carol really had nothing but misery with Jay). I laughed because, while Kelly Wood looks lovely (she looks better here than a few years later where at one point she's styled like Heidi), most of what I've seen of Mary makes me sleepy. This is probably her best episode of any I've watched with her - the 79/80 stuff is a complete dirge.

I'd say the same of pretty much anything in Oakdale in this era - at least a few years later you might enjoy hanging out with Karen, Margo or Ariel. By this time unless you can get Lisa to stop wringing her hands about Grant and Joyce, your best bet is to drive to Springfield and try to hang out with Rita.

I was surprised the actress looked so good here...agreed, during the start of the Dobson era she is a complete bore (they kept having her have accidents...from falling down the stairs to being hit by a car, and going into a coma! Payback for what she did to the audience?

I can see why the Dobsons swept so many characters away...everyone acted middle aged, even when they weren't. But sidelining Nancy and Chris was screwed up. I never knew why Bridget who had a weird realationship with her parents, never leaned into Nancy ruling with an iron fist.

I do have to say Springfield always seemed more of a fun to place to hang out then Oakdale!

Thanks! I feel like one or two of the segments that were originally posted forever ago has been missing for quite some time, so it's great to have it in its entirety.

Things that always stand out to me when I watch this one: that plucky little number they play at the very end of the prologue as Ginny contemplates taking the money is one of my favorite pieces of ATWT music of all time, mannnnn they aged the heck out of Nancy in just a matter of five years because she looks and acts much younger in the 1973 episode, and it's so very hard for me to look at Barbara/CZ as a your typical 70s P&G soap heroine. Oh, and this is definitely Michael Nader at his hottest.

Both Helen and Don seemed to age in that gap, moreso Don.

Ginny's whole style is very silly to me for some reason - she seems like she is more suited as a side character on a British kids show. That and the disco set are the antithesis of ATWT. I'm reminded of how the short-lived Australian soap Arcade had a last gasp effort at staying on by introducing a nightclub.

Michael does look gorgeous here. That feathered hair works much better on him than you'd expect.
