October 13, 200817 yr Member Serious? Agnes Nixon who sold her shows for big sums in the 70s to ABC, who's husband took care of the finances and was notoriously good with money, who was working on soaps for 40 years--Reilly's made as much as her? At the time, yes, the money Agnes got for AMC and OLTL was substantial...but that was 20 years prior to Reilly and the big bucks of the go go 90s. Additionally, he sold PASS to NBC at a time when they were really hot for him. His contracts have been huge as well. I was unaware that Agnes had a financial whiz for a husband. Perhaps she's wealthier than Reilly, she's been out of the game for such a long time that it's very hard to tell what kind of money we're talking with Agnes. She's very quiet with her money whereas the Bells spend, they can afford to, thanks to B&B.
October 13, 200817 yr Member Reilly is not the answer what I think Corday should sell Day's to the Bell family and then they could put Ed Scott back in charge with his own writing team. the Bell's + Ed Scott = Day's not cancelled
October 13, 200817 yr Member Well, I saw Agnes's house and if you compare hers to Bill's and Bill Jr.'s and Brad's... Bells are rich.
October 13, 200817 yr Member Well, I saw Agnes's house and if you compare hers to Bill's and Bill Jr.'s and Brad's... Bells are rich. Well, but isn't northeastern wealth always somewhat less ostentatious than LA Grandeur?
October 13, 200817 yr Member Well, but isn't northeastern wealth always somewhat less ostentatious than LA Grandeur? Yes, but the difference (bewteen the houses) is... Amazing. Agnes really owns a house, but the Bells own mansions.
October 13, 200817 yr Member I think the Forrester mansion is supposed to be based on the Bell's own manse, if I'm not mistaken.
October 13, 200817 yr Member Don't forget, old Aggie has holdings in Warren Buffet's Berkshire Hathway. That is no easy feet, she has to have a lot of capital to make such an investment.
October 13, 200817 yr Member What has DAYS got to lose? Nothing! As long as he doesn't fire Suzanne Rogers, Lauren Koslow or Renee Jones I say welcome back JER, do whatever the hell it is you do to soaps, DAYS needs a kick. I'll add John Aniston and Joseph Mascolo on that list.
October 14, 200817 yr Member Yes, but the difference (bewteen the houses) is... Amazing. Agnes really owns a house, but the Bells own mansions. Right but as others have said, Agnes has always been very reserved when it comes to speaking of money or showing it--which isn't true of the Bells (in that youtube interview, Bill basically gives out money figures)
October 14, 200817 yr Member I think it's easy to say the Bell estate brings in more money than the Nixon estate. The Bell's do after all own all of B&B and probably the majority stalk in Y&R. Also, those shows are in wider international syndication that any of the ABC soaps, they're also steamed on CBS.Com, legally on YouTube, and Y&R is on SoapNet. I have no doubt Nixon profits from AMC and OLTL, but seeing as she doesn't own those shows, it's not as much as the Bell's profit from their shows.
October 14, 200817 yr Member Oh I agree--sorry if I implied that Agnes was richer--I have no doubt she isn't. But I still thought she was at least up there with Reilly. When you write a soap doesn't the headwriter who created the characters during their tenure get some sort of royalty? I remember reading that somewhere.
October 14, 200817 yr Member You bring back Reilly and the show really is doomed. So of course, they will.
October 14, 200817 yr Member How did a thread about Reily possibly returning to DOOL turn into a debate about who was richer, the Bells or Nixon?
October 14, 200817 yr Member How did a thread about Reily possibly returning to DOOL turn into a debate about who was richer, the Bells or Nixon? Because it's so much more fun to discuss quality HW's than the freakshow that is Reilly Not only is the Bell mansion the basis for the Forrester mansion, the exterior shots ARE the Bell mansion.
October 14, 200817 yr Member That's what I thought. Thanks... And yes, I agree with the fact that discussing Nixon and the Bells is better than watching Days slit its throat by bringing Reilly back to the fold.
