To be fair to Carolyn Hinsey, and I'm not a defender of hers at all, she was talking about AMC, BB, and YR "handing over the 1pm time slot" to DAYS in her column. And to add something positive, she notes that "Victor is showing signs of waking up from his long, boring slumber to KICK SOME A$@ in Genoa City."

I have to agree with her to an extent. I also agree when she said that Sharon and Phyllis have basically become each other

When it comes to writing for women, Latham is on Guza's level - pathetic! I hate her interpretation of Dru and Phyllis especially.

I actually thing we're seeing much strong women. Nikki, Sharon, Dru, Jill, Katherine, Ashley, Colleen, Lily etc. are so much stronger than their uber weak Smith/Alden portrayals. Thats one of the biggest strong points for her.

The only female that has suffered until Latham is Phyllis for me.

I think Phyllis is still suffering. She's become a stepford wife <_<

I don't necessarily like the way she writes Dru, but at least she's written for and her personality remains somewhat intact. I don't really know what the answer is for Phyllis, but something's got to give there. The character was and is a ball of fire- she's being wasted.

LML is undermining Michelle Stafford's talents, writing Phyllis the way she is. Michelle didn't win her two Emmy's by playing a pod character, she won them by playing a complex character who had attitude, edge, and spunk. Phyllis is none of those things anymore.

CK can't play Lily strong.

I have never agreed with her considering her ABC bias at times but she is right on here. She didn't bring up the best points but Y&R is suffering quality-wise. All the teens, Carmen, characters out of character, etc. The show is not horrible but it's boring as hell and it struggles to give solid day to day episodes. The start of Carmen's murder was great but then blah. LML taking full control behind the scenes doesn't help matters either.

The pace is good and fast and I like that and I loved the beginning of her work earlier this year but right now I am just not feeling the show at all. It struggles to hold my interest and it seems many long-term fans are upset as well. Like Drew said, the ratings are good now but they were for GH for a long time even with the mob and all the other crap and, eventually, they fell too even with the gimmicks and returning vets. At some point, if things continue to go this way, Y&R will start to lose ratings. Will it be massive? No but it will be noticeable and with the axing of so many long term writers and so on it is something that is very likely to happen since the newbies do not know the show as well as the old guard.

You summed it up perfectly when it comes to Y&R Phoenix, and I agree with you........ :)

Carolyn is right in her assertions. The show reeks. I wish I could vote LML out of her position as head writer and executive producer.

The stories and characters are lackluster, listless and just plain boring.
