I'm Team Abbott; my answer might have been different if Joan Van Ark were still in the role of Gloria. I don't know for sure if she would have gone to great lengths to play the "woe is me" queen, but I would have liked to have seen her up against the Abbotts, without being written as cartoonish/foolish.

As Jack has said, Gloria knew John for two years, and suddenly expects all of his family to bow down before her and let her do as she pleases. She nearly detroyed Jabot because of her selfishness, not giving a regard to how John would have felt if she were found out; yet, she wants everyone to respect her because she has the last name Abbott. She didn't respect the Abbotts enough to warn them the minute Tom Fisher came into town, blackmailing her. She didn't have much respect when Abby got sick from that tainted cream she batched up; and she tried to dismiss the fact that someone died because of her carelessness, creating Jack to lose his job.

I hope Gloria gets everything that she dished out right back in her face.

It's "Sasha Green" all over again. And please Jack left Victor for dead, in fact he was THRILLED when he thought Victor "died," he celebrated and Brad was disgusted by his behaviour. Years later Jack is enabling Victor to go on some spiritual quest even though he KNOWS, he FULLY KNOWS that the man is SICK. He is using Victor's deteriorating health for his own damn personal gain. Jack Abbott has and always will be about Jack Abbott.

I can't really say that I'm on a team because Jack and Gloria both have done their [!@#$%^&*]. I love me some Traci, always have, but she and John are the only Abbotts I ever did like. Jack is no innocent and I have never liked him since he dogged Patti. He's committed crimes himself and taken advantage of so many people SO many times. Just crushing whoever gets in his way. Even if they are his "friends". He screwed Lauren over today in getting to say goodbye to John. He has no qualms about screwing Nikki and Victoria over as he takes advantage of Victor...but he is Nikki's good friend and loves Victoria like his own daughter. Please, Jack is a criminal and a user himself. He's no better than Gloria. No matter how much he hated that !@#$%^&*], she should have been allowed to be a part of that service. She even put aside her own gaudy plans (after much prodding from John's friends) to please John's children. No matter what HE thought of her, (or what we think) his father loved her and she should have been there. That is classic Jack. He doesn't give a damn about anybody unless he can use them in some way to get what HE wants. He's already plotting to get Jabot back and John isn't even in the ground yet.

Even Ashley, who I don't even like on a good day, has reservations about the way Jack is doing things. No matter WHAT, John's funeral service should not have been the conduit to "stick it" to Gloria.

Soooo.....well, I guess I'd side with the Fishers this time.

Right now we are all picking who's side we are on, but I expect something that will change things big time in that Abbott household...Plus, someone was mentioning about Lauren...As much as I like Lauren/Michael together, the more he delves into helping Gloria fight against Jack and Ashley, the likely it will strain their marriage.

I whole-heartedly agree with you regarding Jack; he was seriously low down for doing what he did to Gloria, and it not only affected her and Kevin, but affected Michael and Lauren, who hasn't been anything but kind.

However, you can't overlook all the dirt that Gloria has done; she stooped to an all time low when she messed with a cosmetic product that was to go out to the consumers. Ashley and Jack were bogus for giving her 'crap' work to do just to keep her out of their hair, but her scheme to pay them back cost a life.

Gloria may found a man that truly loved her for her; but at times her desire for power clouds her and that's where all the nonsense between her and Jack begin. In all honesty, it's more about Jack and Gloria right now than Gloria/Ashley and Jack. Ashley has done shady stuff to Gloria, however, I don't think she would have been that low (well maybe she would have) to deny Gloria to say good-bye and honor John.

I will concede that Jack telling GloHo the wrong time so she missed John's funeral was petty and wrong.

But, Gloria lied and manipulated and schemed with John, his money and bagging him as her husband since day one. John loved Gloria through all her glaringly obvious faults, and would have stood by her during the Tom Fisher thing had she told him what was going on. Had she not stolen Abbott money to pay him off again and again and told John "He's trying to blackmail me", that would have been the end of it. But she wound John up with fear and half-true stories, filled him with paranoia to his breaking point! He shot the man, and went to jail for her saggy-assed lies! And now he's dead cause of the added stress.

And no, Jack Abbott's never been a completely nice or good guy. Thats why fans of Y&R have loved him for these past 20+ years. As Cheap said, I've watched this show for too damn long (17 years!), invested too damn much in the Abbott family to have any sympathy for Gloria. For me, as a viewer, she's as much an intruder to that family as she is to the characters in the show.

and semi OT - but that new shot of Gloria in the opening disgusts me! Does the show love her that much that they get that awful woman to pose for her shots while everyone elses are from the episodes, or are those truely the day-to-day mannerisms of Gloria. BAH!
