Edge of Night (EON) (No spoilers please)
Variety reported that in early 1965 CBS was pondering moving Edge of Night to primetime but putting plans on hold to see how Peyton Place on ABC held up. The upshot was instead they went with the ATWT spinoff Our Private World. Wonder how the EON run would have worked out? Would it be a spinoff of some sort as I can't see them dropping Edge in the daytime.

DAYS: Behind the Scenes, Articles/Photos
How did the Doug and Julie wedding fare in the ratings? Thought it would take the show to No 1 but that didn't seem to happen. Macdonald Carey had a pilot in contention for the 65/66 season. 'The Green Felt Jungle/The Silent Men co starred Richard Conte and was produced by Universal. When the fall schedule was announced , it was not picked up. so Carey was free to do Days. Had things worked out differently, there would have been another Tom Horton. I wonder who else they might have had in mind?

Guiding Light Discussion Thread
The timeline here has always confused me. When did Claire die on ATWT? Did Barbara Berjer immediately go to GL as she was popular and they felt she would be an asset as Barbara and decided to drop Augusta? Augusta then went to A World Apart replacing Elizabeth Lawrence. What was the reason for that move?

Y&R October 2021 Discussion Thread
Or Keemo's child could have been brought up in the US if they don't want to have the foreign aspect. He/she might only discover Jack now and could be grateful or resentful about him depending on how they want to play it. Speaking of Jack, I wonder what the future is for the iconic Abbott set. Now that Jack is the only person living there full time and he is running low on story, how will they keep that set onscreen? It is the oldest standing set and quite large. Other sets like the Newman Ranch and Chancellor estate have been dropped or revamped (shrunken). Maybe it will be put into storage and Jack will become another character that drifts between Crimson Lights, Society and the Grey Pumpkin. Or we will suddenly see the Abbott study (stage left) a much smaller room.

A True. All they would need is a wall and booth or seating, and background noise. That's what soaps did in the 60's and 70's and it worked OK.

Edge of Night (EON) (No spoilers please)
'Always searching...never perching' That 2nd clip is a great visual record of NY at the time. Have to wonder how a porn star/singer landed a gig on a P&G soap? Joel, Dennis and Irving were all part of the cast at that time. Were there any other gay cast members at that time?

Thought this was interesting regarding NBC and soaps
Unless you happened to read about it,how would viewers know? NBC must have ran ads but that was pointless for loyal CBS viewers. I recall reading that there was some mention (voiceovers?) that Search was leaving CBS but all the announcer said was check local listings. Was there any other viewer alerts?

Moses and Faith have their big date -at the Top of the Tower!- a must venue for teens. But of course, we didn't see it. Why not mention another venue that would be more suitable for 16 yr olds? Why wasn't Newman Media launch held there?

Have Jack say he never talks about Keemo because he felt a failure as a father. Jack could say that Keemo went off grid and he had a private investigator look for him for years but finally gave up ,accepting that Keemo didn't want to be found. PB could'act' the hell out of that. That paves the way for a grandson or daughter to appear with a variety of backstories that could be employed. End result-new young Asian character connected to the core.

Where to begin? The nauseating Faith/Moses 'romance' that included a musical montage and moved their story not one iota. Chloe and Sally wanting a fashion shoot at the Gross Porpoise because there are NO other possibilities in town. I can see it now- models posing in between the swivel chairs. Lauren meeting Victoria at Green Platypus WHY? Victoria has a home and an office as does Lauren and the designer one would presume. At least there was a mute extra involved. The scriptwriters missed a beat here - surely Lauren should have revealed that the dress was an exclusive Lara Belara gown. 'OMG'. Victoria could exclaim. 'But Lara Belara only designs for royalty.' 'Why don't we use a Media company to start a fashion dynasty?' enthuses Chloe. 'Greta idea!!' responds Sally. 'Let's do it tomorrow!!' Looks like we're going to Italy. Can't wait to see the Palazzo set. Probably Ashland's NY penthouse redressed. Or better yet the room at the Newman Ranch untouched. 'Victor wanted the Italian residence to have the same feel as home', explains Nikki.

As The World Turns Discussion Thread
Lynda Hirsch 25 April 1993 On April 12, the Virginia Theatre was the site of a moving memorial for former "As the World Turns" head writer Doug Marland. Family and friends packed the house and a touching tribute was presented by Dixie Carter (Julia, "Designing Women") and "Someone to Watch Over Me" was sang by Tamara Tunie (Jessica, "ATWT") quite apropos as Doug was always watching over someone and one of his best "ATWT" plots revolved around the song. Gene Palumbo made certain Doug had a dream fulfilled. Palumbo, an illustrious daytime writer himself, talked of the Broadway show he and Doug had penned years before Doug had always wanted the songs from it to be sung on Broadway. They were certain David Merrick would be calling them. Merrick never called, but three of their songs were performed that night, thanks to Palumbo. Almost everyone who spoke about Doug mentioned his love and need for applause. So "ATWT" producer Laurie Caso asked all in attendance to applaud for the wonderful life Doug led. In unison, everyone stood and Doug Marland received a Broadway standing ovation. On May 5, which would have been Marland's 59th birthday, "As the World Turns" will present a special tribute to him.

I agree. I remember a scene when Billy returned with Jack and they were pushing that similarity. But as you say with writer changes and the decision to go with Billy/Victoria began the downhill spiral. As much as Victor can be overbearing, having him just walk away when Billy was haranguing him at the Grey Pumpkin was a nice touch. Billy is unbearable at this point.
