Beth Logan was more glamorous than Liz Foster - more suited to LA , as a love interest to Eric and probably because the network wanted younger sexier 'old people' What do posters think of Judith Baldwin as Beth? How long did she last? Nancy Burnett was much less glamorous and the Eric/Beth story took aback seat. Were they originally hinted as getting back together? The rest of the Logans were a mish mash of other Y&R families. Storm was basically Snapper Foster. Katie was Traci Abbott. Brooke was Jill Foster with a touch of Chris Brooks. And Donna?

Yes we discussed this previously. Having the Texas characters on AW meant that AW viewers that were interested in them might devote another hour to the new show, but if you didn't take to those characters no way would you follow them to Texas. Conversely if you decided to watch a new show and stories were already in progress it would be hard to get into it. It would have been better to have Iris on AW Monday and at the end leave for Texas and arriving in the first ep and the story going from there. The first few weeks should focus on one or two stories and a small group of characters and expand from there.

Also, wasn't Ellen Barrett producer at that time? She was former EP of Ryan's Hope where Louise had worked. My guess is that Maree wanted to leave as Search was not the show it once was and she was ready for a change. Ellen was agreeable as she wanted to make changes. Louise may have been cheaper at that point also. Maree started in 73.

Maybe just take a break. Often time away from a situation can be helpful and give a new perspective.

Why not have them happy in Milan-not everyone needs to get married at the drop of a hat. Kyle is now on his third marriage in his 20's. As for Summer being recognized in the street..really??? Harrison should have been revealed to be neither Ashland or Kyle's. Tara had more mileage in the character-she should be the one out for revenge not Jesse Gaines or she could have hooked up with Jesse as she would have had knowledge of him- rather than Phyllis finding out about him in 5 mins on her laptop. The security at the Palazzo is worse than the Newman Ranch. And a few staff wandering around would have been nice. Lily deserves all that's coming to her - a romp in the sack with Billy seems to be her go to. And where were the kids??

It just occurred to me that Y&R's Phyllis may have been named for comedienne Phyllis Diller. She was a friend of the Bell's as far back as the 60's - appearing on Lee Bell's Chicago show and many years later on B&B as Gladys. Bill had a thing for naming characters after family and friends. It always struck me that Phyllis was an odd,old fashioned name for a young character but it makes more sense if it was to honor Ms Diller. And, in the 70's Bell introduced a character named Phyllis when he was writing Days. Good theory?

Kin was the hot hearthrob at the time, although he was being diminished by Geary and the turn in writing away from Scotty and Laura. I'm sure he was a little miffed that he was no longer the center of that story. His contract was up and P&G offered him a record salary to move to Texas. So he probably thought why not? It was only for a year and as it happened he went back to GH anyway.

My only complaint about the set is that it's a little cluttered and cliche. They also had to wedge a piano in there for Leslie. It would be nice to see a servant extra bringing in drinks etc, There is the terrace and several bedrooms. All this for a couple of weeks. Meanwhile back in GC the Not so Grand Pheonix has the identical tiny 'suite' used for several characters. So Noah arrives for the wedding but no Reed? Surely a mention-perhaps he's not happy and doesn't want to come?

Sandy was brought back twice in the 80's but the actresses were bland and there never seem to be much interest in her, which was a pity. Perhaps if Tom Jr was back for a few appearances to establish her better. The show should have made the preservation of the Hortons a priority,not an afterthought. Compare her writing to the attention Marlena (a similar character) got a few years earlier. If only Deidre had come on as Sandy, the Horton's would be in a much better position today,
