  1. Hahaha. We all know EB loves dropping F-bombs when he rants to the soap press.
  2. Wow, you remember the week that the frat party started 😆 So instead of the Vietnam rewrite, you would have had Keemo be John's son? Keemo's birth year was established as 1972 and Dina abandoned the family in 1971 so the timeline works. John in his devastation over Dina's abandonment turns to Luan, resulting in Keemo.
  3. No Winter Olympics in 1989. February 20, 1989 was President's Day and CBS aired an NBA Basketball afternoon game.
  4. Bill Bell gave an interview around 1996 where he regretted having wrote the story where Malcolm took advantage of Dru. Well, the frat party started in June 1994.
  5. Thanks @FrenchFan for these recaps. I am loving reading about Vanessa Prentiss.
  6. I've often wondered why P&G didn't export their long-running shows globally to the degree that Y&R/B&B did. From some research I compiled a list of countries that aired the long-running P&G shows. If anyone has any to add, please do. Another World: Australia, Italy As the World Turns: Australia, Netherlands The Edge of Night (CBS years): ? The Edge of Night (ABC years): United Kingdom Guiding Light: Germany, Iceland, Italy Search for Tomorrow (CBS years): Australia Search for Tomorrow (NBC years): Italy I didn't include Canada as I figured most Canadian viewers would watch the P&G shows not carried by the Canadian networks on the CBS/ABC/NBC stations carried by their cable providers.
  7. Hahaha. Yeah, Marc was way too Dynasty. That was fine for 1983, 1984 when Dynasty was at the height of it's popularity, but by 1987, 1988 Dynasty was way past it's prime. Another late to the party Dynasty element Y&R used: Victor moving from the ranch to a luxury penthouse that was more befitting of a foreign diva. I see what you did there Ed Scott 😆
  8. I can't see Terry Lester playing out any of Jack's 1990s storylines.
  9. Summer teen/social issue storylines didn't really become a thing on Y&R until Cricket arrived.
  10. We're going to be seeing "All I Want For Christmas Is You" hit #1 every December.
  11. I think the Christmas 1980 scene was a flashback from Julia's 2002 return but I could be wrong. 1980-1981 Julia was Bill Bell's version of Sue Ellen Ewing.
  12. Usher - Bad Habits (Official Video) - YouTube
  13. From watching the August 1988 episodes featuring the summer social issue AIDS storyline, does anyone else find the dialogue a little too heavy handed? I know the time the story took place was during the height of the AIDS crisis and Bill Bell was trying to educate the audience but still, it came across as very PSA.
  14. @BetterForgotten You forgot Olivia Newton-John in the list of female solo artists w/ multiple Billboard Hot 100 #1s before the Madonna/Whitney dominance during the second half of the 1980s. Madonna's 4th #1 Papa Don't Preach made her only the 5th female solo artist to reach 4 #1s; the four female solo artists that had reached 4 #1s prior to Madonna were Diana Ross, Barbra Streisand, Olivia Newton-John, Donna Summer.
  15. Taylor Swift is the 8th female solo artist to reach 7 #1s on the Billboard Hot 100. The female solo artists with 7 or more #1s on the Billboard Hot 100 are Mariah Carey (19), Rihanna (14), Madonna (12), Whitney Houston (11), Janet Jackson (10), Katy Perry (9), Beyoncé (7), Taylor Swift (7). When all artists are counted (male solo, female solo, duo/group), Taylor Swift is the 21st artist to reach 7 #1s on the Billboard Hot 100.
  16. Another 1980s Seattle listing. Monday November 11, 1985 KIRO (CBS) 11 am Y&R Noon News 1 pm As the World Turns 2 pm Guiding Light As we already know, no Capitol. KOMO (ABC) 11 am Ryan's Hope 11:30 am Loving Noon All My Children 1 pm One Life to Live 2 pm General Hospital KING (NBC) 11:30 am Search for Tomorrow Noon Days 1 pm Another World 2 pm Santa Barbara So sometime between November 1985 and June 1986, KING dropped Search for Tomorrow.
  17. The Bayou of course 🤣 Yes I know there was no pole at The Bayou. That set looked more like a honky tonk dive bar than a strip club. In 2020 a strip club would have a pole, dollar bills on the stage, VIP section with bottle service. The Bayou was clearly no Magic City, heck it wasn't even The Brass Rail (anyone that's a fan of basketball and/or hip hop has heard of the real places I referenced).
  18. No wonder Nikki ended up climbing that pole three years later 😂
  19. New doctor in town Casey has a troublemaking younger sister Nikki. Bill Bell would reuse that element 12 years later with the Barber sisters, Olivia the new doctor in town and Dru the troublemaking younger sister. There was another parallel with early Nikki and early Dru. Both got involved with shady characters when they tried to start modelling careers. Nikki joins Rose DeVille's "agency" which was really a front for prostitution. Dru signed up with "agents" that tried to feature her in a porn film.
  20. Most Y&R fansites have Lucas arriving in 1978, that's what I was going by.
  21. The big arrivals that year were the Reed sisters, Paul, and Lucas. In that 1978 episode, was Nikki's boyfriend that Casey was talking about Paul? I don't believe Casey and Nikki's mother was ever shown, but their father arrived the following year. Lucas was the younger of Vanessa's sons, but IRL Tom Ligon is four years older than John McCook. Crazy to think in that 1978 episode JM was younger than his current B&B co-stars Darin Brooks and Scott Clifton.
  22. Agree, that's weak. Even if there are Christmas classics this year, watch them be repeats of some of the 2010s episodes from the spring/summer classics.
  23. Sorry Soaplovers but I don't get John McCook's appeal. To think if JM hadn't left Y&R in 1980, we might not have gotten Eric Braeden.
  24. CBS/Sony are not playing, taking videos down with the quickness.
