  1. @Khan IIRC you've never been a B&B fan, even back when Bill Bell was writing. I haven't watched B&B on a regular basis since 1999, but knowing Bradley and from the consensus on this board B&B has been hot garbage since Susan Flannery retired, maybe even longer than that.
  2. Jill's descent into madness is one of the storylines that caused Knots Landing to go off the rails for me.
  3. Hot fire: BtG Hottest couple: Andre/Dani (BtG) Hottest male star: Sean Freeman Breakout star: Tricia Mann-Grant Hot garbage: Y&R The real MVP: Eric Braeden
  4. Normally that would've been at the Jabot offices, but that's budget mode for you.
  5. Who would've thought that Sally would be Stephanie's protector/defender during the poisoning storyline. Sally is terrifying when she confronts Sheila. DC was giving feels of her Y&R character Rose Deville.
  6. There was also a shift in dramas starting Fall 1985. Primetime soaps and action shows were out. Murder, She Wrote shocked the world. Miami Vice was the new hotness. Moonlighting showed growth and would take off the following season. L.A. Law was a year away. 1984/85 the primetime soaps pulled out all the stops to out-do each other and that culminated with the big cliffhangers of Royal Wedding shootout, Bobby's car accident, Val's babies. 1985/86 the primetime soaps tanked and Spring 1988 felt like the natural end point of the genre. In real life 1985/86 was the season s--- got real with the AIDS crisis, Space Shuttle Challenger, Chernobyl. Escapism was out and shows that gave comfort and warmth were in because the world around us was changing so much.
  7. Maureen Garrett returned December 1988. Michael Zaslow returned January 1989 but Roger was unmasked in March I think and Springfield learned Roger was alive in May.
  8. Cricket was fine in small doses (LLB school break appearances) but when LLB became a full time cast member in Summer 1986, Cricket ate the show for the rest of the decade. That writer didn't fact check. Thanks for the additional info @Broderick .
  9. Roger's return was exactly what GL needed to emerge from those really bad years in second half of the 1980s. Once Robert Calhoun became EP, GL finally hit its stride.
  10. Thanks @soapfan770 for posting that Bill Bell interview. Interesting he doesn't mention a possible 1 hr B&B. Lee Bell birth name was Loreley June Phillip but I had no idea she was related to Irna Phillips.
  11. Knots Landing got corporate with Lotus Point and I think that was in response to Dynasty blowing up and becoming a pop culture phenomenon.
  12. I bet Michael Filerman was p----- that Alec Baldwin moved on to bigger and better things. From the buildup of Empire Valley in season 6, it looked like something big was going to happen in season 7 but the result was a mess.
  13. I can totally see that 🤣 OK, now lets get back to 1980s ratings 😀
  14. You love a good diva hair toss.
  15. Joshua descent into madness and eventual death was painful to watch. That storyline and Empire Valley becoming a mess caused Knots Landing to tank for me.
  16. Aaron Spelling also cashed in on Diana-mania. OMG you described that season so perfectly 🤣
  17. 1984/85 the primetime soaps pulled out all the stops to out-do each other and I think that played a part in them tanking the following season.
  18. That I wouldn't know. I haven't read KZ book. The beef with Michelle Forbes and Cynthia Watros were reported in soap press I believe and they've been discussed in this thread.
  19. You're welcome. So Kim Zimmer had beef with Michelle Forbes, Cynthia Watros, Signy Coleman. I can't remember if there was beef with Maeve Kinkead and/or Beverlee McKinsey.
  20. I can't remember if this was posted earlier. Signy Coleman talks about GL starting @ 1:09:17 One-on-One with Signy Coleman - YouTube
  21. You're welcome. 1985/86 was the season primetime soaps tanked and we can see that from the recaps.
