Looking back...Primetime Ratings from the 80's
Sophomore surprise Murder, She Wrote was pre-empted for If Tomorrow Comes. Rookie breakout The Golden Girls was a repeat on March 15. Here's what happened on the sophomore slaughterer, new hotness, and four soaps that week. The Cosby Show - Close to Home (March 13): Cliff's friend discusses problems he has encountered with his teenaged daughter. Dynasty - The Subpoenas (March 12): Bart's secret past yields triumph for Denver-Carrington, but Blake faces possible defeat in the courtroom battle with his brother, Ben. Dex rejects Amanda's affections. Alexis sabotages Caress' plans to publish a potentially damaging expose. Miami Vice - Payback (March 14): Someone shadows Crockett while he and Tubbs work with a government agent to set up a reclusive drug smuggler. Dallas - Just Deserts (March 14): Explosive events at the Martinique masquerade ball cause Angelica's disappearance, Grace's breakup with Jack, and Jack's disavowal of J.R. Knots Landing - Distant Rumblings (March 13): Abby forces Olivia to tell the truth about the marijuana found in Michael's car. Val upsets Ben by visiting Gary in the hospital. Falcon Crest - In Absentia (March 14): Angela vows to find Peter and her money. Richard learns that Jordan works for Terry and that Peter holds the mortgage on the track.

Falcon Crest
@soapfan770 Thanks for the info. Agree. The resolution and aftermath felt like a cop out though.

Agree, Silk Press Sheila is bordering on one-dimensional and played out. We all know the shelf life of a soap opera villainess isn't that long. Trisha Mann-Grant is a find though, and she should move on to bigger and better things after finishing her initial contract.

Looking back...Primetime Ratings from the 80's
1988 Winter Olympics was the last year they were broadcast on ABC. 1992, 1994, 1998 were broadcast by CBS and 2002 onward have been broadcast by NBC. 1987/88 ABC got out of third place by having World Series, Super Bowl, and Winter Olympics, plus their successful Tuesday night lineup Who's the Boss?, Growing Pains, Moonlighting.

The Hogan Family
The opening credits remind me so much of Family Matters. Was Josh Taylor doing double duty on Days and the NBC run of The Hogan Family?

Falcon Crest
Seasons 8 and 9 were off the rails plus budget mode. Remember too that 1988/89 was the writer's strike delayed season thus so many shows felt off that season. Season 8 was a chore to get through and season 9 was painful to get through. The final two seasons were not necessary and they only happened because CBS was in their third place primetime mess era. When a salary dump goes wrong. I don't think Kristian Alfonso was hired on the cheap given her daytime popularity and huge following amongst a younger audience that CBS sought after, but she was the show's new pet that became front burner lead right away.
