  1. I loved that Andre called out Hayley on her nonsense. We all know Hayley is all about the come up.
  2. I think some names thrown around in the soap press were Genie Francis and Tonja Walker but I could be mistaken. My theory is that Bill Bell realized he rushed into recasting Y&R Ashley (Eileen Davidson didn't get a proper exit storyline and Brenda Epperson floundered for her first 6 months) so he decided to kill off Caroline and replace her role on the show with Taylor.
  3. You loved the 1999 opening credits diva hair toss even more JW is four months away from turning 80 and she looks great.
  4. You're welcome @Paul Raven 1984/85 the primetime soaps pulled out all the stops to out-do each other and that also played a part in them tanking during 1985/86. CBS had bigger things to worry about: too many one season and done shows leaving them with lots of space to fill, lack of success with sitcoms. 1984/85 Simon & Simon weakened a bit and Cheers showed growth so maybe ABC thought The Colbys would be good counterprogramming. As we all know, 1985/86 Cheers took off and clobbered Simon & Simon, thus The Colbys was pretty much DOA once it was regularly scheduled Thursday 9 pm.
  5. Silk Press Sheila vs. Nicole and Anita, bring it.
  6. A couple of 1986 articles re primetime soaps tanking that I don't think have been posted here before. I've quoted them in case the links end up having paywalls. PRIME-TIME TV SERIALS LOSE EDGE - The New York Times SOAPS NO LONGER CLEANING UP WITH NIGHTTIME VIEWERS – Chicago Tribune
  7. CBS/P&G were shaken by 1978-1982 ABC big three huge rise and domination, thus the changes to the shows.
  8. The Fate of Ophelia has such a familiar 1990s sound but I can't place it. I don't think it has a sample of any 1990s song though.
  9. AFAIK only two 1977 episodes and a partial 1978 episode have surfaced.
  10. I take it your favorite era was Calhoun/Marland.
  11. Hold up, was Don Hastings being checked for BITD?
  12. If any character defined GL's final 25 years, it was Reva. I've accepted we'll probably never see Potter/Dobsons 1976-1978 episodes so any Potter/Dobsons episodes from 1979 and 1980 that surface are such a treat. In my life GL had two golden eras: Potter/Dobsons/Marland and Calhoun/Long/Curlee.
  13. I must have missed that.
  14. We finally got to see Larsa new boo. She's still trying to snag a baller.
  15. The abrupt ending of the war crimes storyline derailed all the momentum that had been built during the course of the series. Signs of tanking start showing not long afterwards.
  16. Roger return and Robert Calhoun becoming EP are what got GL to finally hit its stride after some pretty bad years. Unfortunately the ratings did not reflect the improvement in the quality of the show. I will never believe that the tail end of supercouple Days was a better show that Calhoun era GL.
  17. Wasn't it rumored BITD they had beef? I wonder if that played a part in HBS departure in 1989.
  18. The apple don't fall too far from the tree.
  19. Sean Freeman is the hotness of BtG.
  20. Andre, be still my heart 🥰 Andre called out Bill and put him on blast. Bill looked ready to wipe the floor with Andre.
  21. I have no memory of Phyllis mother. I'm guessing a short arc in spring or summer 1995. I haven't revisited 1995, mainly because I associate that year with Nick/Sharon eating the show.
  22. Was that when Phyllis showed up at the Chancellor house with baby Daniel? Michelle Stafford chose her most memorable moment for the 50th anniversary some scenes from when Phyllis crashed Rex's funeral reception. I remember Phyllis making the rounds and introducing herself as Mrs. Romalotti to the Genoa City elite.
  23. It's 2025, not 1985 🤣
  24. It cannot be emphasized enough that Angela Lansbury carried CBS primetime on her back through some pretty awful years from the late 1980s to the mid-1990s.
  25. ABC Thursday had been a dead zone since 1982/83. Full House started slow but it showed growth two seasons later with the launch of TGIF. CBS primetime scripted line up was not looking good heading into 1987/88. Murder, She Wrote still a hit. Dallas, Newhart, Kate & Allie, Falcon Crest, Knots Landing, Simon & Simon; Magnum, P.I.; Cagney & Lacey were aging. The Equalizer not a hit. Only returning new drama Houston Knights. Returning new comedies Designing Women, My Sister Sam, The Cavanaughs. 1987/88 CBS ended Magnum, P.I; Cagney & Lacey, Houston Knights, My Sister Sam, the new dramas that returned were Beauty and the Beast, Jake and the Fatman, Tour of Duty, Wiseguy, and the only new comedy to return was Coming of Age.
