Ratings from the 1990s
@soapfan770 Thanks for posting 1996 Super Bowl week. 1995/96 not a very good season. ER reaches #1 and Friends blows up. The rest of the broadcast network primetime lineups that weren't NBC Thursday, not looking so good.

Murder, She Wrote
30 years ago this month. That Time Murder, She Wrote Took A Swing at Friends The Time 'Murder, She Wrote' Had Serious Beef With 'Friends' | Cracked.com When 'Friends' Killed Off 'Murder, She Wrote' “I mean, who would have thought a group of twenty-something young people sitting around all day long discussing their sexuality would turn out to be a top TV show?” Angela Lansbury and her shade, I love it. Remember that a decade earlier she shaded the new hotness Miami Vice by calling it Miami Heat.

Primetime Soaps
When factoring in ratings, critical acclaim, place in television history and pop culture, and influence on other dramas, I'd say the definitive dramas of the 1990s were ER, NYPD Blue, 90210, and Melrose.

The Boondocks told us that in 2010.

Knots Landing
Thanks for the info. I haven't seen the 1989/90 episodes of Dallas in a long time. That season was a waste of time anyway, but that's neither here nor there for this thread.

Dallas didn't take a dark turn in 1989/90. Remember too that CBS was a mess in primetime that season.

@Speed Racer @GL95 Trying to figure out real ages vs. SORAS can hurt one's head, but I'm trying anyway ☺️ Phillip was introduced in 1977 as a child and graduated high school in 1983. He was classmates with Rick, who was born on screen in 1970. Based on that, Phillip real birth year would be 1970 but he was aged 5 years, as was Rick. Alan-Michael was born on screen in 1981 and returned in 1987 as a teen. IIRC Alan-Michael turned 18 in 1989 so he was aged 10 years.

Corrected that for you 😊 For all we know, maybe someone at CBS liked Penny Peyser. Remember she was in the main cast of Crazy Like a Fox and the miniseries The Blue and the Gray.
