  1. For whatever reason Bill Bell didn't really explore the Forrester daughters' relationship the way he did for the Forrester sons. For all we know, we could've ended up with Kristen and Felicia fighting over Clarke. I remember some flirtation between Felicia and Clarke but that didn't go anywhere. A Bill Bell element was two sisters fighting over a guy. See also Leslie/Lorie, Donna/Katie, Ashley/Traci, Olivia/Dru. Another set of Bill Bell sisters that didn't fight over a guy were Casey/Nikki.
  2. Firstly, thank you to @ChickenNuggetz92 for setting everything up and secondly, thanks to those who added everything. I'm almost done the 1982 segments that are up so far. 1982 was the big transition year and who knows how much of Bill Bell's original plans for that year changed because of everything going on off screen. Case in point, if MTS wasn't pregnant and JLB didn't leave, could Victor and Lorie have ended up as the end game couple instead of Victor and Nikki? The Bayou is clearly no Magic City 😂 (Side note: Magic City is a strip club in Atlanta that was in the headlines recently.) Daytime dramas were alot more scandalous and shocking in the early 1980s. I guess once AIDS happened things changed. It was a treat to see the beginning of the Abbotts. I think the Abbott house was added when John Abbott returned and Bill Bell expanded the family w/ Mamie, Ashley, and Traci. The Abbotts would also be almost all recasts within their first decade but Bill Bell kept the Abbotts instead of replacing them with a new family like he did with the original families. To think that July 2020 should have been Terry Lester's 40th anniversary on Y&R, sadly that wasn't meant to be. Robert Laurence would return as a prosecutor. I think he was part of the George Rawlins murder mystery but I do remember seeing Robert as the prosecutor during Danny's drug trafficking trial. Not long after Peter Brown started on B&B. Like I said before, it's amazing how Y&R survived its first decade then thrived for the most part during its next 15 years.
  3. Global update. Wednesday August 5 Global/Thursday August 6 CBS - 8083, OAD March 1, 2005. Lily's DNA test.
  4. A Katherine and Vanessa meeting? I would love to see that.
  5. How far into 1994 did that channel get? The last episode I watched was Nancy Curlee's last credited episode.
  6. Looking back on everything that went down off screen and on screen during the first 10 years of Y&R, it's amazing that Y&R survived it's first decade and then thrived during it's next 15 years (save for Cricket eating the show summer 1986 to end of 1989, Nick/Sharon eating the show fall 1994 to early 1996, and the lull of fall 1996 to summer 1997).
  7. https://sports.yahoo.com/what-has-been-the-biggest-threat-to-the-nba-bubble-louwill-lemon-pepper-bbq-wings-162237418.html Firstly, how is a strip club even open and secondly, who goes to a strip club for food?
  8. August 1994 would have had Heidi Mark. Vanessa Prentiss stole the show from Victor, and that is no small feat. I was hoping we'd see more of Vanessa during the classics.
  9. Although both Sharon and Amy were mentioned during the episode, their scenes were cut. The boxing lesson was the highlight of this episode. EB rocked those black tank tops in the mid 1990s 😍
  10. In this episode Nick asks Victor to teach him boxing. It's the second father/son boxing lesson we'll see in these classics.
  11. @amybrickwallace That is wonderful news. So glad for you 🤗
  12. The ultimate Newman family week for me would be Victor's first episode, Victor and Nikki's first meeting, Victoria's birth, baby Nicholas first appearance (his birth was off screen), and Victor and Nikki's hospital wedding (as that's the only one of their weddings that hasn't been rebroadcast).
  13. A clip of Dina's 1983 arrival was on YT years ago. Maybe an upcoming theme week for long lost relatives returning might have that episode.
  14. I don't think Victor interacted on screen with Vanessa/Lance/Lucas at all. Even if Victor did interact w/ Vanessa, I'm sure he would recognize her as someone not to mess with. Side note, I think John McCook was already gone from Y&R when Eric Braeden joined the cast.
  15. Yeah, we totally have. Episodes from Dina's original run 1983-1986, then her returns in 1991 and 1996, and her most recent run.
  16. So Lance and Prentiss Industries were precursors to Victor and Newman Enterprises. Later in 1976 is the arrival of Vanessa Prentiss. Can't wait to read about her storyline in detail.
  17. I remember Jill was seeing both Rex and John at the same time but got exposed when Katherine invited John to an engagement party she set up for Rex and Jill. Dina told the family she had an illness but she was actually broke. Edit to add: Speaking of Dina, in the 1984 episode on Tuesday she was serving up some Alexis Carrington Colby fierceness. Bill Bell used elements of Alexis for Dina: mother abandons her family, lives a jet set life, remarries a wealthy businessman, becomes widowed, inherits late husband's business that rivals the ex-husband's business. Bill Bell couldn't make Dina British or even French and have her live in a luxury penthouse as that would be too obvious LOL. Although he hasn't appeared in any of the classic episodes, I think Marc Mergeron was Y&R's most Dynasty character haha.
  18. I hadn't visited that YT channel in a while but sad to read that it is gone. It was online for a long time, I wonder why now it got shut down.
  19. August 1994 would be Heidi Mark. Global update. Thursday July 30 Global/Friday July 31 CBS - 7764; OAD November 21, 2003. Victor confronts Albert Miller.
  20. @BoldRestless Here's a link posted by @YRfan23 that recaps August 30, 1994 https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topicsearchin/rec.arts.tv.soaps/before$3A1994$2F09$2F05/rec.arts.tv.soaps/NZ3Etzvpx_Y
  21. CBS/Sony have no idea what a gold mine they are sitting on with respect to 1970s/1980s/1990s Y&R.
  22. Aww, Neil and Dru were so young and sweet here. It was the episode before today's where Jill got the phone call from the doctor that confirmed she was pregnant with Billy. So funny how everyone was trying to get Paul and Lynne together but little did we know at the time what was on the way. Michael's story was coming to an end and he would be off the canvas for four years. @Faulkner I don't CLB had grown into his looks during the first run. His peak looks wise IMO was 1997-2004. Around 2005, 2006 he started looking like he lost alot of weight really quickly. Skipping Katy Perry and Devon/Hilary wedding. Global update Monday Global/Tuesday CBS - 7853; OAD April 2, 2004 (Abby tells Victor he's her father) Tuesday Global/Wednesday CBS - 8140; OAD May 24, 2005 (Cassie dies) Wednesday Global/Thursday CBS - 8826; OAD February 7, 2008 (JT and Victoria's wedding)
  23. That must have been the facial rejuvenation procedure that was part of Katherine's storyline in 1997 or 1998.
  24. Jeanne was 45 when she started on Y&R. 1970s/1980s styling maybe is what made her look older than what we're used to seeing 45-55 year olds look like in 2020. As we all know, Jeanne also had substance abuse issues and she was a smoker for many years so that affected her looks. I also think she got alot of sun exposure over the years. Our resident surgery expert @DaytimeFan might weigh in later.
  25. Jeanne was 55 during the facelift storyline. The scene where Liz comments "the doctor took off 10 years" was shown during the 2003 Daytime Emmy broadcast. I saw that Victor/Nikki reunion scene on YT years ago but had no idea it was from the Katherine facelift reveal episode. Two weeks later was the GOAT wedding. So far 2, September 18, 1987 (rebroadcast May 5) and today. I don't recall any TL scenes in the episodes of April 13, 1984 (rebroadcast April 3), November 2, 1981 (rebroadcast May 4), July 18, 1986 (rebroadcast June 8), June 27, 1984 (rebroadcast June 22). I just realized that this month marks 40 years since Terry Lester started on Y&R.
