The Politics Thread
I left X-crement the day after the election. I miss it not at all! Bluesky has filled the void nicely - and completely. I didn't watch a bit of the Felon Follies today. And speaking of Felon, Rolling Stone keeps it real with its headline chronicling today's travesty, at the link: https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/donald-trump-sworn-in-47th-president-united-states-1235241770/#recipient_hashed=41eb6758af709f24ec201d5d77a47d415fdc1497510a5e134f8241bca1e2c3b9&recipient_salt=503b292510c0398f40e5a0b07969a3f22bc641853947c43b3315f759b85225a8

ARTICLE: CBS To Preempt Daytime Lineup For Inauguration Coverage
Can't wait to not watch! The Yule Log on Roku (still there!) or watching soap scum form on my shower curtain are more appealing alternatives...

ALL: Couple vs SUPER Couple?
Yes! For the relatively short time the pairing was on GH, the "good" writers did write Robin/Patrick in the vein of the old supercouples, and even in that brief time, they had a lot of obstacles - internal and external - thrown their way. Honestly (and I know I may be biased as a fan of the couple), I think Robin/Patrick were the last to be written by that formula. Not to say there aren't popular couples (although I find most of the current crop boring), but the writing is missing that "big" quality. Although - even if I'm not a fan - I know many love Liz/Jason and/or Liz/Ric, too. So, perhaps an element of subjective feelings plays a role, too, even if just a little. As an example, I loved original Zander/Emily (Amber Tamblyn) back in the day, but even I don't think they'd be classified as a supercouple. (And considering how the show s-h-i-t on them for Nik/Emily once Emily was recast, neither did the show itself, apparently.) Conversely, I was/am also a big fan of Mason/Julia from Santa Barbara and think they do qualify with everything they had to endure. Cliff/Nina, my first 'ship at 8-years-old (ha!) from AMC...well, I think they came just before the "supercouple" trend, but they may qualify, too...

AMC/Knots Landing: Kathleen Noone discusses her time on "Knots Landing", her career as a whole...
Per a new article, Kathleen Noone, was recently at the Hollywood Show in Burbank, where she met with fans. An article talks about that and her role as Claudia Whittaker on Knots Landing, and also touches upon her other soap roles. https://www.remindmagazine.com/article/24442/knots-landing-all-my-children-kathleen-noone-hollywood-show-2025/

ARTICLE: R.I.P. Leslie Charleson – Legendary ‘General Hospital’ Actress Dies at 79
I was surprised to read this news, although I don't understand why, considering the rumors regarding Ms. Charleson's health. She, along with Stuart Damon, made the Qs highly entertaining - even if putting the 'fun' in dysfunctional. May Leslie Charleson rest in peace. As for the Q mansion, by rights, Tracy or Ned should get it, but we'll see, I suppose.

Another World Discussion Thread
The late Philece Sampler was miscast as Donna Love but she was phenomenal in the clips I have seen from her time on Days of Our Lives as Renée Dumonde (later DiMera) in the early '80s, especially her gathering Salem together at a party (ostensibly, celebrating her marriage to Quinn Redekker's Alex Marshall, another great character!) to blast all of them... To think of what came soon after...

Soap Hoppers: The Soap Actors And Roles Thread
Seeing John Capodice, he has to be one of the most prolific actors in terms of, "Hey, it's that guy!" Besides the usual Hunter shout out (and, as always, thanks @slick jones!), I have seen in in a lot of other stuff, i.e. Ace Ventura, for starters! May he rest in peace!

Don't even worry about it! But thanks all the same for restoring it, what with everything else you have to do!

RIP: In Memoriam Thread
Linda Lavin was a talented actress, from theater to TV. She was working right 'til the end with No Good Deed. I remember her from a Law & Order: Criminal Intent S2 episode. The late Ned Eisenberg played her wimpy son [one of many franchise appearances from him in numerous roles!], and his Mommie Dearest had his wife killed because she wanted a divorce and - having converted from Catholicism - said mama from hell was afraid she would not raise her grandkids in the Jewish faith. She rocked that stone-cold role. But I will always remember her from Alice, too. (Was she the last people from the cast still living? Edit: Answered my own question via Google: Celia Weston, Diane Ladd, and Polly Holliday are all still with us!)

Former President Jimmy Carter has passed!
I read on Bluesky that flags will be at half mast during the Inauguration from Hell, because the rule of a POTUS that passes away is that flags be at half mast for one month. I'd like to think it is a final FU (albeit Southern gentleman style!) from President Carter to the incoming ooze. Carter's timing - even in death - is impeccable. And the symbolism with the flag is just perfect, all things considered.

Former President Jimmy Carter has passed!
As said above, I'm so glad that President Carter's state funeral will be under President Biden's watch. One decent man leading the farewell to another. Jimmy Carter was an exemplary example of TRUE faith and Christianity: Walking the walk and talking the talk regarding helping the poor and saving our environment for future generations. He is back with his beloved Rosalynn in heaven, where I'm sure the gates opened wide for his arrival, as it should be. Godspeed, President Carter. Thank you for truly trying to make the world a better, kinder place.

Looking back...Primetime Ratings from the 80's
And yet, NBC would see even wilder success with Frasier and especially Friends in the '90s. I remember some of the shows mentioned above, especially Hooperman. (I was about 15 when that started.) While I liked John Ritter, the show, IMO, had no idea what it wanted to be. Dramedy was still a new concept then, and the balance between drama and comedy hadn't hit its stride there. A polite way to say, the show wasn't very good. Which seems to be the theme of a lot of those titles, for good or bad.

Looking back...Primetime Ratings from the 80's
This name sounded familiar, and this same name [as I'm not certain it's the same person!] was a writer for Silk Stalkings. So, assuming it IS the same person, I guess writing ended up as an alternative career!

GH: Role recast
Sigh. Which is still ridiculous, IMO. Yes, Gio having them as parents wouldn't necessarily age Brooklyn and/or Dante, as it would be a teenage pregnancy. But the perception of them being older would still stick, made worse by Amanda Setton's utter sexless portrayal of Brooklyn to begin with. I don't get why every "stray" character must have a familial relationship going on this show. That mindset has already made Days feel incestuous, i.e. adopted uncles/nieces dating and such. (That's Max/Chelsea. Let us also remember that Brady's half-sister is/was also married to his (half) cousin. See what I mean?) Unattached characters bring new blood!

The Politics Thread
I know the heartbreak of dementia (as do many others!), but this is also why I believe there should be term limits in Congress. The stakes are too important: AWOL Congresswoman found in memory-care facility.

Looking back...Primetime Ratings from the 80's
Aside from the pilot airing on a Tuesday [and my 12th birthday, no less!] and a very short run on Friday nights thereafter, where it was getting creamed by Dallas, once Brandon Tartikoff gave the series a brief hiatus to find a new slot and give it one last try, Hunter seemed to remain on Saturday nights from the last half of its first season through Season 6 on NBC. I do remember the lone McCall-free final season of season 7 switched to...Wednesdays, or something? But predominantly, Hunter kept the same time slot for years. And on a night now considered a TV wasteland. Ah, for the days of The Golden Girls and Hunter on Saturday nights!

TCM Remembers 2024
Their yearly In Memoriam video dropped today. Lots of big losses. Soaps-wise, Janis Paige [ex-Minx Lockridge #2, Santa Barbara; though I know she did tons more!] is among those listed.
