It's also why I think the way the show is paced and structed is intentional. Most of this new audience is probably streaming and binging the show and the show has to be produced in a way to serve that need.

I don’t know what happened, but there was nothing wrong with Maurice and I am sad to see him go this soon. I hope it was his choice, but if it wasn’t, then the show made a mistake letting him go IMO. I wish this new actor good luck though and I hope he does well.

I’m at the point where I hate these characters and get annoyed whenever they’re on. It’s the character, it’s the actors, and it’s the writing. It all sucks or is incredibly vanilla and uninteresting.

It’s because a number of different entities have joined forces to finance and produce this show. CBS, P&G, the NAACP. They all have their individual people representing them on the EP team. That’s in addition to MVJ (creator and HW) getting an EP credit along with Guza, and Julie Hanan Carruthers (whose primary role is focused on keep the production in order).

MVJ is a rape survivor herself, so I don’t think she’ll tackle any sexual abuse storylines insensitively if that time ever comes.

I really hope they don’t go down that route. There’s already a pervasive ideology from right wing bigots in this country that most gay people are gay because of sexual abuse they’ve experienced during childhood. BTG should stay away from feeding into that. Bill seems to know what the situation is, so I am assuming Martin may have killed someone and it was covered up or some type of other coverup.

A lot of new soaps have some type of reset in their first year - I wonder at which point we’ll be getting one. At the very least, they’ll likely be some recasting for the contract cast as some contract cycles start to expire.
