  1. The show definitely plays it too safe quite often, which I think can be detrimental to both stories and characters.
  2. This was the scene I was referring to a few posts back, I forgot the part about only being able to afford Spectra knockoffs. https://x.com/AUTigers4Ever/status/2045099720234639678
  3. Yeah, I don’t understand why FV and team hold her in such high regard to think this role is somehow unrecastable on a permanent basis.
  4. I think ATWT actually exists in the BTG universe, too - I think Haley once mentioned dreaming of shopping at Fenmore’s and wearing Forrester Creations and Barbara Ryan Originals when she was younger and poor.
  5. I think Leslie could easily pivot into being a Delia Ryan-type character - always an annoyance to the Duprees like Delia was with the Ryan’s, but over time, you get to see her develop her own life and independence, and even a fire romance with a Roger Coleridge-type character. She’ll always be her own worst enemy and make terrible decisions, but often with the right intentions. Or maybe a long lost true love comes back into her life and she’s saddled with some of his family/children, but he’s equally destructive and makes bad decisions. She could see that as her second chance to do things right in life. Like Pat and Frank on EastEnders - I do think she could follow a similar trajectory as Pat as well.
  6. ‘The Young and the Restless’ Crossover Gives ‘Beyond the Gates’ Its Third-Best Week of Ratings Ever (EXCLUSIVE) But, honestly, in the context of daytime, one week means very little if it doesn’t emerge as an ongoing trend or semi-trend.
  7. It was a great showcase of the qualities Shelley brings. She knows how to bring the heart and milk every emotion from the given material. Reminded me of GH episodes she used to direct when Claire Labine was HW in the 90’s.
  8. On a network and production company owned by the Ellison’s, we shouldn’t be surprised if they don’t acknowledge it at all honestly.
  9. Dani as a character doesn’t make a ton of sense to me. It’s like a bad fan fiction character where the writer really wants you to believe it’s a dynamic character, but it’s weak and pathetic instead.
  10. Not the show, but John Byrne is returning to do an alternate universe X-Men comic title that is being touted as possibly his final project: John Byrne Returns to X-Men, the Superheroes that Made Him Famous, to Say Goodbye: “Leaving in a Blaze of Glory
  11. Laura/Genie had been dressed horribly since the 90’s, lol, so funny that you mention she’s the closest to how BLQ is dressed.
  12. I really wish she were producing this show day to day rather than Julie Hanan Carruthers (who she’s obviously close with and helped mentor when they both worked at GH). I’d take her back at GH, too, but Curtis knows and specializes in bringing a sense of heart to her shows, and she works really great with both actors and production staff from things that have said about her throughout the years at both GH and DAYS.
  13. Despite the writing for Leslie veering off into cartoon territory sometimes, Trisha Mann-Grant was a find for BTG - I know she’s been around for a while and mostly active in black-owned media productions in Atlanta, but I’m glad BTG has given her a wider and more national platform. She’s one of the original cast members that “popped” from day one.
  14. But that wasn’t the narrative being told on BTG, they talked about streets being blocked and power being out for most of the town, If I recall correctly. So, it was definitely far beyond just the club.
  15. The show just has such a narrow focus for an hour-long soap. Like, there is no reason this tornado event had to have the entire canvas at the country club and why there couldn’t be characters and development in other settings that were also impacted by it simultaneously. Had this been a 30 minute soap, it wouldn’t have been as noticeable. This is a situation where I really wish they had established 2 core families on this show as opposed to just one (and I generally find the Duprees largely sanctimonious and unlikable at that). I often feel like the format of BTG would work better in a 30 minute format.
  16. MVJ definitely needs to slow down with her unwarranted fascination with Jon Lindstrom - the character is awfully written, but there is nothing interesting about Lindstrom’s performance either. Frankly, I have never been impressed with him. Sometime writers shouldn’t be writing for their personal friends, they’re unable to think objectively, and I think that shows with Joey.
  17. You can definitely see in the production that this show benefits from being produced in Atlanta with a bigger and more modern studio space vs. the soaps in LA.
  18. I will never stop beating the drum of what a horrible, off-putting, and irrelevant character Ashley is, and what a boring actress Jen Jacob is (she can’t rise above the horrible writing for her character). I feel as if the writers have a vision for this character that doesn’t and has never translated to the screen since the first episode. They want us to sympathize with her, but it’s almost impossible to do that. Would love this character written off.
  19. The Anastasia actress still screams budget Jasmine Guy to me! Get the real one, BTG, she’s ATL based!
  20. Why do I get the feeling she’s going to be a severe backburner character with little to nothing to do?
  21. Another new song - Love Sensation
