  1. Some people in the comments section took it bad him trying to diminish VP-Elect Harris and her role as Biden's running mate. Such flawed analysis.
  2. What's this guy's point?
  3. Much of it definitely felt like colorism at play in those storylines, which is why, honestly, I couldn't get through much of it. I'd love to hear from Larry Bryggman on how he felt about the writer(s) who wrote his character, John Dixon as a rapist and a blackmailer. John Dixon's level of malevolent bad guy >>>>>>> Lucinda Walsh's level of bad guy.
  4. If anything, Lucinda acted as something of a plot device when the character first entered the canvas in 1984. She was Craig's boss and had quickly become Lisa's nemesis, due to her prickly relationship with Whit McColl. It wasn't really until 1985, when Sierra arrived that Lucinda became entangled and somewhat obsessed with her children's lives. That aspect predated Marland, although he continued it. If a plot device could function as a character, (which it really cannot since a plot device is a situation, not a character) it would've functioned like a Nick Castello, James Stenbeck's lackey. Lucinda was an actual character with perceived autonomy. Hubbard may not have liked not being the heroine (Kathryn Hays already had that role) but the implication seemed to be that she was accusing Marland of preferring to write for the younger characters and that's simply not true. Kim, Bob and Susan and John might beg to differ. I asked about The Doctors' livestream because, I suspect there might have been some contentious carryover from there. Her behavior during that livestream spoke volumes on how she regarded her co-stars and her time there and her relationship with Marland on that show may have had a role in that. But even when she entered the canvas in '84, she was still a character (if an underutilized one), not a plot device, as characters cannot dramatically he used as such.
  5. Gregg Marx was very candid in admitting that, looking back, he didn't realize how good he had it back in those days. Did Hubbard make her claim during the ATWT livestream or during The Doctors livestream? Yeah, La Hubbard got a ton of meaty stories during Marland's tenure, the only thing I could possibly think of is that perhaps she wanted to be a heroine instead of a villain but usually, it was the vixens, villains and 'bad gals' who had the most fun. Most characters on today's soaps would likely love to have someone write half as nuanced a character as she got to play.
  6. My opinion but I think that much of the Democrats recent strategy in North Carolina was built around the Research Triangle and getting out the vote in those surrounding areas. The problem with that strategy is that in 2020, many of the students, researchers, etc. were unlikely to be on campus due to pandemic shutdowns that affected universities, research labs, museums and other cultural and academic spaces adjacent to the universities, not to mention all the volunteers that were drawn from their ranks. North Carolina Democrats could definitely do with utilizing local networks of organizers already living in existing communities and strengthening and building upon what is already there on the ground.
  7. Georgia is a much more instructive model than Florida, which needs to start from scratch, if the Democrats are ever going to make it work. Georgia and even Arizona happened because of grassroots efforts in that were seeded years beforehand. I read an article about all the organizations in Georgia (not just Stacey Abrams) that were successful because of they were homegrown, not the usual method employed by the Democrats, which usually involves parachuting into communities for six weeks and canvassing. In GA and AZ you had community organizers that are well-known and therefore trusted engaging the community. Native American community organizers went to reservations to register people to vote as well as help some people get to the polls or drop boxes (if you think your mail is slow, try life on a reservation, where a mailbox can be miles away from where you live). The answer is not for Democrats to parachute in, per usual, in Florida but to find community organizers who are committed to breaking through the relentless voter suppression tactics and just support those people. It will likely take years, as it did in Georgia and there are never guarantees that these states' shifts will be long lasting but from what I have seen there seems to be new groups of newly empowered people who feel engaged politically in a way they had not been before. As cynical as I can sometimes be about politics (and judging from this group, I'm not alone), I can't be cynical about that.
  8. Just clicked on QVC briefly and saw Terri Conn. Sounds as if she modulated her voice a bit. At least, from what I remember, her voice seemed to be higher pitched, somewhat squeaky when she was on ATWT.
  9. An unattached to a playlist, in case anyone wants to see the episode but is having trouble finding it. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=12KOOqGfJEI
  10. You're welcome 🙂. I don't think any other channel on YouTube put up an original upload of this episode.
  11. The scene is in this episode, which I wish were better video quality. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL4OXGaue5zhru43ZP4Q4SR7_DGuR3wk5Q
  12. With the Stormy Daniels scandal barely in the rear-view you would think they would choose a different figure other than $130K. They're not too bright.
  13. So, how's Trump's scam PAC going? Did he fleece enough cultists to clear up his debts?
  14. It would be interesting to find out who Michael Louden screen tested with, sadly he is no longer around to answer that question but maybe someone else can. Back then, I am not sure if there was an actual "conscious coupling" of characters. From what I read of ATWT at that time, characters were written to interactbwith a bevy of other characters, leaving plenty of room for surprises in terms of who sparked. In terms of Lily and Duke, I think it was more a function of Duke and Lily being in the same age group. Meg pretty much referred to Lily in the same derisive manner, except Duke, characteristic of his personality, was prone to making taunts, while Meg was prone to spite. By the standard of today's soaps though, Duke and Lily would've been on the courtship fast-track to engagement.
  15. The number of people who seem to be rejoicing in the fact that this vaccine was not developed in the U.S. tells you all you need to know about the U.S.' standing in the world.
  16. Sigh. Are folks going on substantiated proof, or nah? The last time I checked, I thought that, if we're talking court challenges (as opposed to a presidential appointee, like a Supreme Court Judicial pick), isn't the burden of proof on the party that brings the allegation? The Trump team has already had a few of their legal challenges tossed out (nothing new for them since they have been losing court challenges since the day Trump took office in 2017). In terms of throwing out votes, this isn't about hanging Chads, these votes were cast, received, accepted and counted. In 2000, only one network had unofficially called the race, while all, even Fox News channel have called it...on Saturday! Today is Tuesday. No offense, but some of you hang out on too many right-wing forums and it shows. Not to sound rude but if you're going to try to stress folks out, at least stress them out over something worth stressing by out over.
  17. So, this is right on track with the Jim Jones comparisons I've been making for years then.
