  1. People know that Kei got married, right?
  2. Unless a character is beyond redemption, I don't see the point of killing off most of these characters. Unfortunately, killing characters off on soaps has become a lazy fallback to try to wrong some drama from what is essentially a vacuum of imagination. Yes, you get your pound of drama, and if the writers are truly committed, Emmy bait, but down the road, it can be damaging to future storyline prospects. There's not much to add because so many have already mentioned characters and storylines. The only aspect that I want to mention is that reading these posts have illustrated how foolish soaps have become over the past couple decades in needlessly killing off their legacy and matriarchal characters in particular. If that's not a sure-fire way to cripple a show's prospects, I don't know what is.
  3. Okay, correction: according to what I am reading, the hack still involves more non-governmental than governmental agencies. So, there's that. What's still cause for concern is just how many of these non-governmental agencies could have links to government agencies and departments, in the form of contract work, like Solar Winds, etc. and could provide a virtual 'back-door' to certain agencies and departments within government. And Big Mouth in the White House has had absolutely nothing to say about any of this. Typical.
  4. It is probably the most expansive hack of the government's data ever. At this rate, the hacking episodes in 2015 don't compare since it affected mostly private companies. I read about this a few days ago and even then the report warned that they had not even begun to scratch the surface, especially in terms of how much data could have been accessed.
  5. Although I can definitely understand the wariness of fans of the show, having people who have a close connection to the show, is, at least, promising. If Dark Shadows can return with many iterations, so can AMC. Most importantly, I wonder if the soap blogs will keep an open mind, or will they preemptively savage the concept, like the last time? I guess I should have checked out the Primetime thread first, lol. Ouch!
  6. After Buttigeig was chosen for Transportation Secretary, I knew Biden would go with Haaland. The argument that Haaland has never run a department of that size as a means of eliminating her for contention for Secretary of the Interior fades away with the appointment of Buttigeig. Biden truly is trying to demonstrate a willingness to incorporate the various constituencies and interests within the Democratic party, a delicate balance, for sure.
  7. Sorry, I left out the crucial word "not" in my previous post. Alan suggested (or someone in the chat, I don't remember) that Fulton wouldn't be up for such an event.
  8. Judging from the comments concerning his writing this time around, it would appear that his last attempt was during the Lauren/Carmine affair, which was ended quickly after backlash from some Lauren/Michael fans. It sounds as though JG has elected to write the women to be fairly vanilla, as milquetoast as possible as a result.
  9. Regular viewers, I have a question: is Tessa still on this show? I can't remember the last time I saw her name mentioned in this thread.
  10. This is a bit concerning but from all reports, the vaccine does not contain eggs, unlike previous vaccines for flu, etc. so hopefully there will be rare instances of this type of allergic reaction happening.
  11. I would love it if Hastings, Prinz and Fulton could do a livestream via Zoom or Skype but Alan had previously intimated that Fulton might NOT be up to this, which also seems rather convenient for Alan since we know how averse he is toward any type of candor in which uncomfortable truths are told and anybody who has followed Fulton since the show's cancellation knows how deeply disrespected she felt during the final years of the show. I suspect that there would be some comparisons made between the show's early years and its final years and it might not be pretty, which Alan likely wants to avoid at all costs.
  12. Did he actually read any of those intelligence reports? Does informal adviser Ivanka and low-level clearance Jared have access to meaningful intelligence? It is not just Trump and his spawn involved, in some cases, it is also family members, like some of his siblings, as well as a cousin. SDNY operates at a different level than the feds, who were/are toothless. If SDNY can put John "The Teflon Don" (a man Trump wishes he were), Bernie Madoff and El Chapo behind bars, they have the capacity to jail Trump. It is a question of to what degree that would be.
  13. Thought that I had posted about this news item way back when, but I guess not. Needless to say, this man is vile beyond imagination.
  14. Which is why I've been saying that NYC is coming for Trump. Although AG James' case is a civil, not criminal one, if she finds any evidence of criminal activity (of which there is a good chance), she can present that evidence to DA Vance, who is conducting a criminal investigation. Also, this is yet another reason that I roll my eyes at talk about him running in 2024. Aside from the obvious aspect that had he had any true intention of running in four years, he wouldn't be trying so hard to cling to the office now (he'd simply pull a Vlad, go away while installing someone to do his bidding, while trying to stage a comeback but all indications point to someone who is desperately trying to stave off debt ( remember that $450 million?) and more lawsuits and possible jail time.
  15. I have been following her (Dr. Corbett) for several months on social media.
  16. People can be so exasperating sometimes. Unless the child's health is dire (in which case, a carefully planned socially distanced "visit" to Santa would have to be arranged), there is no morally justifiable reason for parents and their children to gather in this way.
  17. It was just this weekend that I thought about this topic (having no idea that this thread existed) while watching some classic episodes of ATWT. Honestly, I think that Melanie Smith's Emily Stewart owns this category, at least where a good triangle is concerned. James/Paul/Emily gave the show one of its most intensely dramatic sequence that culminated with a bullet in the bedroom for the show's episode leading into Labor Day weekend. Meg/Tonio/Emily is fresh on my mind because I just watched an episode over the weekend that gave me a new appreciation for just how good this storyline played out, the twists, turns--including a well-played reversal that Smith dramatized in true 'bawse bitch' fashion. Dusty/Lily/Holden/Emily. It was revealed pretty early that deep down Holden and Emily were using each other, each for their own reasons but the characters had a history and the actors themselves had really obvious chemistry that even added interest to what could have otherwise been just another run of the mill soap trope of the road of star-crossed lovers on their way back to one another. Melanie pretty much had chemistry with all her pairings, so it worked very well. Sorry to the ardent Lily/Holden fans but those scenes between Dusty and Lily (which inspired many puns regarding Dusty's "deflowering" of Lily) were pure 🔥. Brian Bloom just, well... bloomed into a cute guy into sexiness. Emily/Brock/Ellie I have heard the rumors that two of the actors allegedly didn't get along IRL but you sure couldn't tell by looking onscreen. Anyone who knows about this storyline will realize that, given Brock's "profession" in life, the story met its logical end, yet I can't help but think that this triangle had enough interesting aspects to last a bit longer, had the resolution turned out differently. I greatly appreciate triangles where no one is demonized but I also appreciate triangles where no one necessarily comes out looking like the 'good guy' either, which is how most of Emily's triangles played out, the exception being Dusty who was really the only character (you might be able to make a case for Paul but since he knew the relationship was forbidden and made the decision to hide it, the reasoning gets cloudy) who was without guile or pretense, laying all his cards on the table, where his feelings were concerned.
  18. Colleen Zeno would make a good Margo Lynley, role that was originally played by Lauren Kozlow. If the show has any interest in reviving the character, which could help revamp the in Eric Forrester character by providing some interest.
  19. TBH, I rarely watch this show on a regular basis anymore. The montages were a nice touch but some intern could have looked up those clips. The credit more likely goes to the editors who pieced those clips together and inserted them into the appropriate parts of the sequence, along with the music cues. The detail needed to write a storyline surrounding how the characters deal with an unresolved issue from the past is something this show hasn't managed to do in over a decade.
  20. Does anybody who still writes for this show pay that much attention to detail though?
  21. Honestly, Nick should also be even more worried, especially seeing that he advised Sharon to take a more relaxed position where Cassie's rebellion was concerned. I am surprised that the show never fully explored that aspect, in terms of the possibility of Nick harboring guilt about it.
  22. Some of these EC voting scenes are quite touching to see.
  23. Sandra Lindsay is the name of the nurse.
  24. Honestly, I hope that neither has ever been on any of Biden's list for any position in a Biden administration, let alone a cabinet pick. I can see a faction of moderates trying to put in a word for Cuomo as an 'appeasement pick' of sorts, trying to claim that Cuomo would be a good 'sell' to Republicans, with most of the Democrats who would be opposed to Cuomo ensconced in the House, out of reach of a vote in the Senate. Joe's transition team has been pretty decent at vetting candidates, so I am going to take your word and chalk the Cuomo talk as a whisper campaign by his supporters.
