  1. That's a nice coincidence about your parents' wedding anniversary, amybrickwallace. The current issue of SOD has an interview with Bill and Susan about their anniversary. Here are a few articles about the wedding (sorry both are incomplete):
  2. I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't seen it but keep a look out for the orderly who is an extra in the Christmas episode that aired today. I remember this actor being on some CBS soaps but didn't know he was ever on The Doctors. He's better known for prime time.
  3. Thanks for the clip! I only watched this show occasionally and when I did it was mainly because of Andrea Marcovicci and Leon Russom. I actually thought she was quite striking in looks. Definitely captured your attention. I think they also were a couple in real life at the time.
  4. Thanks for the articles, DRW50! Intellectually, I understand the show couldn't tolerate Reinholt and Courtney causing trouble on the set (if that was truly the case). Still, to me they were irreplaceable. I didn't hate Susan Harney but it was like she was a different character. I didn't care for the subsequent Alices. And I did not like David Canary as Steve, at all.
  5. Speaking of Rita Lakin, looks like a lot of her personal career memorabilia is being sold on eBay, including some scripts from The Doctors. According to the description, most of her scripts have been donated to the University of Wyoming. http://www.ebay.com/itm/THE-DOCTORS-1963-1982-TV-SERIES-Rita-Lakin-Archive-LOT-OF-13-ORIG-SCRIPTS-/201084335797?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ed18f76b5
  6. Today's episodes were up around 5:00 when I watched them (but I see they're down now). Hope this is temporary. The live stream has been working for me the last two days but the station only airs the second half hour.
  7. No, Penny was Althea's daughter with her first husband. She should be a pre-teen at this point.
  8. I think Steve was portrayed as a bit of a rich playboy at the beginning. He's certainly charming and handsome!
  9. So great to see this show again! I was in the 4th grade the first time these episodes aired and obviously missed a lot because I was in school. But seeing these characters again is like seeing some long-lost friends. I'm over the moon about seeing Steve and Carolee's first meeting. And Nick and Althea, sizzling hot as ever. I don't remember the Winters but I thought the scenes with Althea and Dr. Winters were great. So wonderful seeing long scenes again instead of the 30-60 second snippets that we seem to get today. And now I learn where the "Little Boy Doctor" nickname came from for Dr. Rice (his patient). My mom and I used to call Terry Kiser that every time we subsequently saw him in anything but I couldn't remember where Dr. Rice got the name. Funny the things that stick with us!
  10. OMG, Steve Aldrich! I don't know whether to smile or cry. Thanks for sharing!
  11. It will probably come back up as soon as The Doctors is over, lol.
  12. That link hasn't been reliable for me. It usually works fine in the late afternoon and evening but not at the time I want to watch The Doctors. Hope others have more luck with it.
  13. Retro TV tweeted that the episode aired on Dec. 4, 1967.
  14. Danfling, I'm assuming you meant Robert Cobert and yes, he did do the music for The Doctors.
  15. I must have seen her but I don't really have any specific memories of Bethel Leslie as Maggie either. I also don't remember Nick being engaged to Liz (I'm assuming this is Liz Wilson they're referring too). But I'm beyond thrilled to see this since I never thought I would ever see so much as a clip again.
  16. Someone put one of the episodes up. It freezes up a few times but good otherwise. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vz7sVGb5Nxg
  17. This an article about various characters instead of the actors. The magazine is dated April 1976 but I believe most of the events occurred in 1975. Interesting that the article refers to Bill's rape of Laura as a "brief encounter."
  18. Fantastic! Thanks for sharing.
  19. Yeah, he didn't seem to have a lot of regard for the medium. I read Grayson Hall's biography and it seemed he was frustrated that he didn't do greater things. It's a shame he didn't seem to appreciate that he provided much entertainment for so many people.
  20. Writer Sam Hall's son, Matthew, has reported that his father died on September 26 at age 93. I think he wrote for "One Life to Live" too. http://msbhall.wordpress.com/2014/09/27/sam-hall/
  21. I very much liked Rita McLaughlin as Carol. She was really sweet without being cloying or boring. Soap writers seem to have lost the ability (or desire) to write heroines like that these days.
  22. Hey, the 70s were groovy, man! You should see my high school yearbook.
  23. I loved the Susan/Julie rivalry. That's what really hooked me on the show even before Doug showed up. Julie rarely lacked a nemesis though. I guess Julie's mother was her nemesis for a while, after Addie married Doug, lol! Next would be Phyllis Anderson, who hated Julie for marrying Bob. You know Julie was always blamed for that but she actually resisted Bob for a long time and he was going to leave Phyllis anyway. But Phyllis felt betrayed because she had treated Julie like a daughter after Julie's husband, Scott, was killed. Then Julie's son, David, would be next, along with his girlfriend, Brooke Hamilton. And then Doug's first wife, Kim, showed up. Julie had started turning into the heroine around this point. I guess Lee was her last big nemesis.
  24. Denise was just hard to replace (she topped the fan polls for years). My biggest gripe with Bennye was her chirpy voice. I found it irritating. Otherwise, she wasn't really horrible. I still don't know why Days didn't try to hold on to Denise. I remember reading an interview with her and she said that there was no disagreement, her contract just quietly expired and GH snatched her up in the meantime.
  25. I believe Denise was still there when Susan had her baby. I also wish Days would release some dvds or put the early episodes on a streaming service. I think Sony now owns Crackle so that would seem a logical place to put it. And a bit of trivia, Bill Hayes' grandson, David Samuel, was one of the original founders of Crackle (called Grouper when it started). Even though I watched back then I missed a lot because I had to go to school, lol. And, of course, I've forgotten some things.
