I believe Hugh McPhillips, who was The Doctors' director/associate producer for several years, was an extra in an episode we saw last week (playing the patient in the clinic with a rash). Hugh McPhillips (in 1972): The patient in the clinic.

This is Leila Martin (in 1971) who played Valerie Shaw. She mentions The Doctors and it doesn't seem she was the same Valerie who married Mike. The timeframe doesn't seem right. Incidentally, I believe Robert La Tourneaux was the actor who played Mike immediately preceding Peter Burnell. "She . . . spent seven months in 'The Doctors,' . . . 'I was a very bad lady, a real witch; they sent me off for a skiing weekend and I was never heard from again. I got terrible mail from religious fanatics saying women like me were destroying the world.'"

Speaking of Greta, I don't think this is spoiling too much. Here she is in June 1970, with Matt, Maggie, & her rabbit.

Yes, that Greta voice was creepy. We do see Greta a bit at Nick & Althea's wedding. I use Firefox ad block when I use Daily Motion and no longer have any problems.

This is only indirectly related to Days but this clip includes Helen Funai who played Doug Williams' ex-wife, Kim Douglas, on Days in the 70s. Helen was one of the "Ding-A-Ling Sisters" on The Dean Martin Show around the same time. Helen is on the left, and gorgeous Jayne Kennedy is on the right. I believe the blondes are Michelle Della Fave and Lindsay Bloom. And here they are in color.

I also couldn't imagine Bethel doing the scenes you described. And I definitely can't see her doing the scenes in which Maggie was thinking to herself that she was old and ugly. She just doesn't have that vulnerability.

Florence Williams, who has been playing Althea's mother in the recent episodes, was a radio actress in her younger days. This is from 1943.

I thought that was Patricia Barry at first holding the baby in the "Road of Life," article!

This is from a 1973 magazine called "The Australian Women's Weekly." Australia was a few years behind so the pictures are actually from an earlier time period. I know the picture with Bill, Susan, and Denise was taken in 1971. Also, the article mistakenly states that Linda was pregnant with Mickey's child.

There was one episode that was reported for inappropriate content for some strange reason and some of us couldn't see it at first. That could be the one. If so, make sure the age restriction filter is off.

I was watching at the time and I did get bored with some of the newer characters. Even though I liked Trish, I thought she was on too much. I didn't find Amanda especially interesting either. She was just okay to me. I did like Valerie & David (although I thought it was ridiculous that Julie had a son his age), and Brooke.

Judy Lewis was also in the May 27, 1963 episode: Jock Gaynor, Pat Jenkins and Judy Lewis in "Sick Little Rich Girl." A wealthy patient, young and pretty, disrupts the hospital."

I liked the beauty shot after the board hearing. You could see Bunker was thinking about what Matt had said and that it had affected him.

I don't believe Anna Stuart arrived until around 1971. We should be seeing Nancy O'Donoghue soon though. She played a physical therapist and I believe Mike dated her for a while. Oh, and I found a newsclipping indicating that Ralph Purdum returns as Phillip Townsend (hospital board chairman) on September 25, 1968 (so that's coming up very soon for us).
