  1. Are the Dobsons the ones who had Amanda acting like a child and playing with dolls?
  2. I loved Jamie Lynn Bauer on Y & R but I still can't get used to her as Laura. She seems like a completely different character than the previous Lauras. It doesn't help that Bill's affair with Kate Roberts is a revision of what actually occurred on-screen when Laura had her breakdown. I suppose all that wouldn't be a problem for those who weren't around for the earlier Lauras. I think it was around this time that I took a long break from watching Days regularly.
  3. Ed played Dick Martin, an attorney, on ATWT. I mainly remember him because Dick was Joyce Colman's attorney when she was trying to get custody of Teddy from his adoptive parents. Joyce was one of my favorite characters at the time.
  4. Thanks for the Fran Sharon/Ed Kemmer article. I really liked Fran and thought she did a good job in portraying the fragile Cookie. I thought she was cute too. Not too many women can pull off that haircut. I remember Ed being on Somerset but don't remember much about his character. I remember him better from As the World Turns.
  5. I know and the story aired not that long after Manson became known to the public!
  6. Thanks for the Bruce Martin article! I remember the Keith/Jonah story. Very creepy!
  7. This is from the April 1974 TV by Day. Belle is one of my favorite soap characters and Marla one of my favorites actresses.
  8. This an article from the January 1976 Daily TV on Margaret Mason, who played Linda Patterson (Melissa's biological mother). I loved Margaret Mason. It's a shame she's not better remembered today.
  9. My pleasure, I'm an old soap opera lover myself! I actually remember Leonie more from Another World. I remember Lee Warrick playing Julie on OLTL although I wasn't a regular viewer. (Oh, and I'm a she! ).
  10. You're welcome! I liked her very much as Laura. I didn't care for Susan Oliver in the role. She seemed too cold. I didn't hate Rosemary Forsyth and thought she came closer to portraying Laura's persona. Jaime Lynn Bauer seems like a different character altogether. I marvel now when I think that when I first started getting hooked on Days the cast included Susan Flannery, Susan Seaforth, and Denise Alexander, three of my favorite (and in my opinion, among the best) soap actresses.
  11. I just posted a couple of articles in the One Life to Live thread.
  12. Sorry for the inexpert scanning! This one is from the April 1975 Daytime TV Stars.
  13. Someone in another thread asked for articles on Leonie Norton, who played Julie Siegel Toland. This is from the October 1974 Dawn to Dusk.
  14. The Felicia/Adrienne story! I remember liking that even though it was so weird (especially for that time period of soaps). Guess it was ahead of its time.
  15. Well, I liked Kim so I was on her side whatever she did. Something about Jennifer put me off, I don't really know what it was, I didn't find her sympathetic. Were Carol and Tom a couple at this time? I liked them too. This may have been a little later but I was really into the Lisa/Grant/Joyce triangle. Barbara Rodell was such a great villainess. Joyce made Lisa seem like the heroine!
  16. I probably wasn't yet sophisticated enough to think along those lines (though I was sorry the members of the triangle were gone)! I remember being really concerned about Betsy being an orphan (or thinking she was anyway).
  17. I was young at the time but I remember Liz's death on the stairs. I don't remember thinking anything odd about the fall. I just remember being shocked and upset over her death because she was one of my favorites.
  18. Thanks so much for the summaries! I was watching in 1973 but I was in junior high/high school so I could only watch during school breaks. There had been a lot of pre-emptions that summer because of the Watergate hearings. The early 70s are still my favorite era of Days. I would so love to see it again (all of it this time!). I don't remember Sharon so I don't think she had a major story with Mike. I do remember Jay. Again, I don't think he was a major character, just someone to cause some conflict for Mickey and Maggie. I also remember Burt Atwater and he was involved with Mary at one point. I'm pretty sure Karin Wolfe was playing Mary at this time. I hadn't remembered that people thought Mickey had run off with Linda!
  19. I saw Raines in Follies when it was in Washington, D.C. He did a good job. He has a good voice and even did a bit of dancing. I always thought he was too bombastic as Alan though.
  20. How exciting! I definitely remember her on Secret Storm (as well as many other productions).
  21. Warren Stevens (Elliott Carson) has died. http://www.washingtonpost.com/entertainment/actor-warren-stevens-who-played-doc-ostrow-in-forbidden-planet-dies-in-la-at-92/2012/03/29/gIQAH9stiS_story.html
  22. I didn't see the attraction at the time and I still don't. I don't remember him being popular in the soap magazine polls so I don't know how he ended up #1 on the Playgirl poll.
