  1. I probably wasn't yet sophisticated enough to think along those lines (though I was sorry the members of the triangle were gone)! I remember being really concerned about Betsy being an orphan (or thinking she was anyway).
  2. I was young at the time but I remember Liz's death on the stairs. I don't remember thinking anything odd about the fall. I just remember being shocked and upset over her death because she was one of my favorites.
  3. Thanks so much for the summaries! I was watching in 1973 but I was in junior high/high school so I could only watch during school breaks. There had been a lot of pre-emptions that summer because of the Watergate hearings. The early 70s are still my favorite era of Days. I would so love to see it again (all of it this time!). I don't remember Sharon so I don't think she had a major story with Mike. I do remember Jay. Again, I don't think he was a major character, just someone to cause some conflict for Mickey and Maggie. I also remember Burt Atwater and he was involved with Mary at one point. I'm pretty sure Karin Wolfe was playing Mary at this time. I hadn't remembered that people thought Mickey had run off with Linda!
  4. I saw Raines in Follies when it was in Washington, D.C. He did a good job. He has a good voice and even did a bit of dancing. I always thought he was too bombastic as Alan though.
  5. How exciting! I definitely remember her on Secret Storm (as well as many other productions).
  6. Warren Stevens (Elliott Carson) has died. http://www.washingtonpost.com/entertainment/actor-warren-stevens-who-played-doc-ostrow-in-forbidden-planet-dies-in-la-at-92/2012/03/29/gIQAH9stiS_story.html
  7. I didn't see the attraction at the time and I still don't. I don't remember him being popular in the soap magazine polls so I don't know how he ended up #1 on the Playgirl poll.
  8. Did anyone see make-up artist Dick Smith receive his honorary Oscar last night? He did the make-up for Barnabas when he was aged to 200+ years old when he made Julia step up his injections.
  9. I knew it would be downhill after Burton became involved but I had a glimmer of hope that it wouldn't be completely dreadful after Depp's reassurances that he had been a fan of the show. I can't fathom who the target audience for this is. Certainly can't be the fans of the series. And you're right, the actors in the series always played it straight, no matter the material. That's what made it work, I believe. I know I was one of those kids who ran home from school to watch it every day.
  10. I've been reading some things that makes me think the Depp DS movie is going to be a "comedy." The most recent comes from some people who have allegedly seen some sneak peak trailers. Guess I should have known it would turn out this way considering the parties involved but it's still disappointing. Here are some of the comments: http://www.aceshowbiz.com/news/view/00048044.html
  11. I'm not sure what they would have done with her. There was a big demand from fans by this time to get Doug and Julie back together since the news was out that Bill Hayes and Susan Seaforth were a real-life couple. Doug had grown to love Addie though and was determined to become a good father to Hope. He had resisted all of Julie's efforts to get back with him. And after Addie went into remission from the leukemia, Julie resolved to go on with her life without Doug. That's why she married Bob Anderson. It's hard to imagine Doug would have left Addie at this point. So I guess the only thing they could think of was to kill her. I remember Addie wanted a second chance to raise Hope better than she did Julie.
  12. The article mistakenly says that Susan Seaforth appeared in "The Towering Inferno." That was actually Susan Flannery.
  13. This is when Addie, after her leukemia went into remission, was killed after she was hit by a truck.
  14. Here are some articles regarding Addie Williams' death in 1974. Sorry they're chopped up! This one is when she was sick in the hospital (she had leukemia) right after Hope was born. Everyone thought she was going to die at this time. The article was from February 1974.
  15. I know, some of them made me cringe, and most of those type comments had nothing to do with the content of the article.
  16. CNN's website has a story today about Elizabeth Kemp (Betsy Crawford) being an acting coach. Although it discusses her career history, not a word about her being on "Love of Life." http://www.cnn.com/2012/02/10/living/creativity-spark-elizabeth-kemp-mentor/index.html?hpt=hp_c3
  17. Then he was kind of good again at the very last minute before he went over the cliff, lol!
  18. I had quit watching GL for a while in the late 70s. When I tuned in again my first experience of Amanda was when she had regressed to her little girl persona. I couldn't stand her and couldn't understand why so many men were attracted to her. I finally started liking her when she was with Mark and then he was killed off!
  19. I do vaguely remember Mary Frann on this show. Her character was named D.B. and she was a business woman. She was always trying to break up Steven and Betty.
  20. I don't remember this particular story but I loved Nick & Althea! Thanks for posting Matt!
  21. That might be the end of watching Days for me if they made Julie Daniel's mother! Of course, I would love to see more Julie (and Doug) but it's looking less likely with all the other returns coming up. Susan said in a recent interview that Doug and Julie are going to be investigating Alice's secret off-screen.
  22. Looks as though it might be when Bo & Carly were in Mexico (where they eventually found Victor chained up in a Mayan temple). I think that was toward the end of 1991.
  23. I would say the nature of Julie's & Marlena's friendship was changed when Deidre returned to the show in 1991. I don't remember them interacting as much then Susan became recurring around 1993. It seems Marlena is considered Hope's peer now instead of Julie's.
  24. Love these clips! The Salem Strangler was one of my favorite storylines on Days. I thought it was a good murder mystery and was more believable than the later serial killer stories that came later. The clip of Doug and Robert singing together (with Marty Davich at the piano) is priceless! I've been hoping to see a clip of them again. Thanks so much for posting!
