  1. Strasser I've seen give subtle performances (i.e. in a miniseries called Baby M)...and her Dorian when she came back in 1993 was loads more low key. Jess Walton was more subdued as Kelly on Capital. But she did make Jill more OTT the longer she played her. And I did see Lucci play more subdued in a few of her tv movies (double edge and Bride in Black). I wonder if playing the same role for so long, the actresses play them more broad to keep from being bored?
  2. Sky and Raven were annoying and helped killed Edge of night Marland was only good as head writer on ATWT for only the first two years. And his dialogue..yikes..so unrealistic. Claire Labine should have been removed as head writer before 1981. Cruz and Eden were over rated on Santa Barbara.
  3. I assumed it was an ABC mandate to de age the character. I think I read somewhere that Karen Gorney auditioned in 1981 for it..but she was deemed too old. I think she was 9 or 10 years older than Jayne...and 7 or 8 years younger than Maeve.
  4. Lisa Sloan seemed more mature as Nicole than Jayne was. She wasn't quite as sophisticated and mature as Maeve's Nicole...but she was moreso than Jayne's.
  5. @Cat, @Taoboi Sutton...if I didn't love her already...I'd love her just for being close friends to the iconic Jennifer Tilly. And there is photo evidence of this on Jennifer's Instagram.
  6. I remember when the show toyed with pairing Brooke with Conner Davis. It was interesting seeing him pursue her, compliment her, etc. Her reaction was priceless because she had been pursuing Ridge and Eric...so she wasn't used to having someone pursue her. Shame the show was insistent on keeping her stagnant
  7. From the clips I've seen, Henrietta had a unique presence. I think I recall Carl Hutchins also trying to take over her pie business to stick it to Mac. Did her character run it's course, or were there other avenues to explore with her character? Quinn was sexy and her voice was soothing. She could have easily fit into the late 80s/early 90s AW
  8. Tamra would have gone for her guns a blazing...she wouldn't have backed down to Erick's threats...and yes..Meghan Edmonds would have had the receipts. Dallas...DeAndra and Lee anne would have gone for Ericka hardcore as well.
  9. I don't know if anyone can judge how Dorothy was in the role she since she only played it the last weeks of the soap. However, she was significantly younger than Pat C. So I could buy her as Sam's mom age wise...but didn't her character have another child..who had a child close to Sam's age? From what I saw, I did see dorothy trying to shake off the Opal/Naomi mannerisms. She did seem colder than Pat's version of the character.
  10. Her early 90s hair style (1992 to 1993) worked well with her more business wardrobe. I think her mid to late 90s wardrobe was meant to show Rachel returning to her 70s artistic roots..but the hair differed (it looked more wig like then her 70s hair). I do admit she did rock the 80s hair quite nicely though.
  11. I think Cecile's 1989 visit was her last good visit. She entered via helicopter...traded barbs with Jamie, Stacy, Ada, Rachel, and Donna. Had a semi nice reunion with Iris..while she and Vicky were sizing one another up. Her 1993 visit was too short..and her 1995 to 1996 stints didn't work. I do agree Cecile was wasted chasing after Cass.
  12. Oddly I think Jodie and Reese plus family could have fit in..had the Capwells maintained focus. The show needed a middle class family to balance out the wealthy element.
  13. Maybe it would have been better have recast Cecile in 1995..because what presented wasn't Cecile at all in character
  14. New York does need a shake up. I'd start from scratch...with at least 2 or 3 married cast members for starters. And the one thing I did like was seeing Leah with her family...it gave context to her. And seeing Eboni in her day to day life showed me her fiance dodged a bullet not marrying her. I think a hiatus will be good for the show. We will see if it helps with OC or not. That franchise is always evolving and changing...so fans expect a revamp of sorts
  15. That's why I prefer when he has performers from before the 90s come on his show..because he tends to let them spill the tea. His Susie Pratt interview, his Rosemary Prinz one, and any of the SFT, Ryan's Hope, or EON ones.
  16. JR returns was a test for a revival of the show, but guess ratings weren't high enough. Only positive of that movie was Cliff finally letting go of his vendetta against the Ewings and making a life with Afton.
  17. My mom told me she always described the 1st Beth as striking and warm. That she could never buy Eric leaving her Beth for Stephanie. Also, she and Brooke looked like mother and daughter...and it would have made Eric and Brooke's later union more a transference of affection from Beth to Brooke
  18. Gabe and Faux Lorna were the start of decline in quality.
  19. She wasn't Stephanie...who was more sexual and mischievous under Maree Cheatam.
  20. Even she says she was a miscast as Stephanie lol
  21. I much liked Emma when she wasn't so perky and cheerful. Early Emma was more sedate and cold, especially with Iva. Marland seeme to turn her into a caricature over time.
  22. Her Dinah was an ingenure. The original Dinah (Jennifer G) was tall and more rough around the edges. Gina T's Dinah was closer in regards to being rough around the edges to the original Dinah. My mom used to say it was jarring going from wendy M's Dinah..who was more feminine and resembled Maeve Kinkaid...to Gina's Dinah..who wasn't.
  23. The original Blake was more tragic, but there were hints of sarcasm. Her Blake had more chemistry with Philip...imho
  24. I always thought Strasser's stint as Hecuba on Passions made her realize OTT was the way of the future. She is capable of subtle work (watch her in the 80s mini series Baby M where she played against type)... and her 80s turn as Dorian. More subtle and played Dorian more close to the vest. And regarding Michelle on GL.... I liked Miner the best, followed by Joie Lenz, than Budig and didn't like St Alban at all.
  25. If St Elsewhere can be streamed on Hulu....Sisters isn't out of the question
