  1. I recall Retro saying that the Doctors had lots of interest and views so they opted to do the whole series. It's probably why they wanted EON. I wonder if they're aiming for other soaps? Capital would be fun..and only 5 years to digitalized vs 19+ years of the Doctors.
  2. Hmmm...ex soap star should learn to keep her mouth shut..and looks like Suttom was right...if this is true. https://nypressnews.com/news/entertainment/attorney-shares-why-he-plans-to-depose-lisa-rinna-says-erika-cannot-keep-25-mil-of-stolen-money-whether-she-knew-or-not/
  3. All my Children: Gillian was created by Lorraine Broderick as a jet setter, was perceptive and scheme. Mctavish paired her with Ryan and made her ditzy. Guiding Light: From what I read in synopsis, it sounds like Holly became more a heroine under the Debson's. I recall once how the original actress playing Holly didn't like the changes to the character..explaining that Holly would have seen through Rita's attempts to get Ed for herself...which I agree with. Marland made Holly even more passive, while Long made her more confident and sexy. When Curlee wrote her, she focused more on Holly's neuroses and less on being sexy/confident.
  4. I think both being 17 worked in Shannon's favor, plus in season 15,..there wasnt much talk of David, his new wife, nor his new family. So Shannon proved that the girls are could be filmed with little to no mention of him and his new family. Now had David said the show was a negative environment for the girls, he would have had a case since it was alleged Brownie hinted about a drug source for one of twins. But he didn't opt for that claim.
  5. Jersey and OC were just as much about the families so I can see why Shannon used that as an argument. NY, Atlanta, BH, Dallas, and Potomac are less about that (though the husbands on Potomac get a lot of focus..which enriches the show..imho). Plus, the show has filmed for at least 2 seasons since the divorce with last season not even mentioning David. So I think that helped Shannon's case. And Sophie's talking heads were so funny with her deadpan explaining debutante balls, her mom's tendencies to overdue things, etc. So her daughters do add an element to the show (not quite on the level of Brianna though) Sophie was the deadpan eye rolling daughter, Stella was the spirited mischievous daughter, but I don't recall much focus on Adelaide...tbh. And tbh, Tamra not being able to have her kids film with her did diminish her a bit. I think she focused more on pot stirring because she lost an avenue of her life to film.
  6. Sophia had a warmth and charm about her...a vulnerable aura of that made men want to protect and love her. She used her looks and those other attributes to her advantage. It's why I liked the Ken/Andie plot against Sophia in the final year of the show because he was younger and attractive. And he lavished her with attention, which she ate up after seeing CC hooking up with Santana again. And it was an interesting reversal because she was used by Ken for her money....same way she latched onto the count. And I agree Cassie should have been her vengeful step daughter. Kind of like India was to Alexandra on GL.
  7. I think maybe the idea of carly was in Marlands plans. Remember Rosanna had run away to find out about her mom and ended up at the Snyder's. So I'm sure it was in his bible...but I think Culliton made her a memorable character. And I do recall she started out warm until she smoked out by the Snyder pond and threw it in the pond. I liked her for that because the Snyder's were a horrid family
  8. I think Kelly/Amy stayed close all the way through spring 1986...but it felt odd that Kelly was flashback to Peter, visited Joe's grave..yet never told Amy? Also, when Amy died...I don't think there was even a scene with Kelly dealing with it. You'd think with a tie to Joe dying would have impacted Kelly. Also, Eden being Channing and shooting Sophia didn't make sense. It should have been Kelly..due to losing several years with Joe because of Sophia.
  9. RHOBH No wonder Sutton got a diamond, she's carried this whole season. Nothing more to say on that. RHONY Eboni and Ramona are the odd couple I didn't know I needed. RHOC: Apparently David Beador didn't want his twins to film for season 16 because of the fear of negative things being said about him, his new wife and family. Shannon won the case by pointing out her primary income is the show and having her daughters on fulfills that requirement. Shame others couldn't use that argument.
  10. GT's Mason had the Shakespearian quality that LD's Mason had..but he played the in love aspect of Mason toward Julia much better. I look at it as Mason finally letting go of Mary by the early 90s. And like I said before, seeing Julia's first 18 months on the show pre Mason has been a treat. She interacted with a larger group of characters, focused more on her career, and seemed to have more agency as a character in her own right. Once Julia/Mason started, her stories were more tied to him..and she didn't freely interact with the other characters as much. It was like she was tied to him and his needs without any agency of her own. That never improved even when she and Mason broke up between 1990 and 1992.
  11. Dallas in the first part of the 80s did a great job of bringing new blood onto the show (Clayton, Afton, Katherine, Rebecca, Donna, Mickey, etc)..but by the mid 80s, that changed. Speaking of Afton, this clip shows how she functioned quite well as a grey character. Neither good nor evil.
  12. I'll be honest and say that while I liked Julia and Mason together, I think the pairing diminished her character in the same way that Eden being paired with Cruz diminished her character.
  13. Alexis in season 2 was more subtle and subdued. My mom said it was more interesting when she lived in the gate house on the property where interactions between Blake, Krystal and Alexis were more organic. She still had some of that lethal snake in the grass vibe in season 3...but gone by season 4. I always viewed Jill on Y & R more like Abby on KL. Single mom, grew up working class, worked her way into marrying well..but also had keen business sense to keep her in that level when the marriage went south. And had a tense relationship with her child..same as Abby.
  14. And what's interesting to me is Madeline's sister Courtney played the ultimate mean girl in Romy and Michelle. So it's interesting seeing her play a sweeter character on SB. And I do think Terry Davis relished playing a snooty rich lady after playing 2 ingenues in Edge and AW. And her last soap role wasn't this, but Sunset Beach where she played another dark character during the curses jewel story.
  15. Candiace has a lot of flaws, but her tongue is not one of them. It's partly why Monique went for her because Monique wasn't as quick with her mouth as Candiace is. I'm hoping Karen and Candiace make up truly...it was nice seeing their mom and daughter like interactions. Gizelle going after Robyn? That's so wrong...considering that Robyn actually likes Gizelle unconditionally.
  16. Dr. John and Carolee looked like they were heading for an emotional affair in those final episodes of 1979..with Ashley being introduced. I'm hoping 1980 will one day air because Ashley's story sounded interesting and the actress did get an Emmy nom. Lastly, saw the Greta recast (Gracie Harrison I think ) in a few 1981 episodes. Good actress, wrong part. She would have faired better as a Penny recast..imho.
  17. @CatI'm wondering if maybe the next reunikoreunion was pushed back due to all the backlash? Maybe Bravo was taken aback by the backlash Leah and Eboni have gotten...since I don't think they were expecting it...so they're regrouping? And I think Bravo put out the Ramona rumors...and again she isn't biting. Ramona knows how to play the game...she knows how to survive (and her pinot grigio is awesome). Regarding Nene, she's lucky she doesn't work in the real world because she would have burned all her bridges. Still, I do think Bravo should have treated her and to a lesser extent Vicki with more respect. @Taoboiand I remember Eva on Y & r years ago..claiming they were mean to her...but I think it was because she was acting a diva without any acting talent to back it up. So I was surprised she seemed more mellow on RHOA...maybe she'll bring it on this all star thing (though Sheree would have been better...Vicki vs Sheree anyone?
  18. You need one boring person to balance out the crazy of the other women.
  19. Maybe Lemay had trouble with writing a middle class family...it seemed he did well with working class and higher class characters. And he didn't know how to make The Matthew's family compelling.
  20. Cassie did end up punished...by karma. Lost the both Warren and Mason..and went crazy...and was put away.
  21. Gacelle has nicely inherited the crown from Kim Richards..in terms of holding Rinna accountable. Some highlights of Kim calling out everyone, especially Rinna. In regards to a season 2 all stars, I hope no repeat people come back. Sonja Karen Gizelle Jennifer Kandi
  22. Dorinda looks great. Maybe time off was all she needed to unwind and pull herself together. If she is coming back next season, don't be surprised if Ramona also does.
  23. I do think Connor McCabe and Eileen's Kelly had potential and chemistry. I suspect had the show been renewed, they would have been the focus of the show. The last week or so of the show quickly tied things up. I strongly suspect that Lily/Rafe/Lisa/Ted would have been done, plus Angela/CC/Sophia. And I think Jodie/Reese/Micah would have continued....with Kelly and Connor being developed.
  24. Flame and Quinn conning the Capwells.
