  1. I viewed Annie going crazy as lazy writing because the fans were split between Josh/Reva and Josh/Annie before Annie went crazy. A good head-writing team and a strong EP would have written to that instead of trying to yet again prop up an aging actress that refused to realize that it wasn't 1984 anymore. Annie already had ties to the show (The Bauers) so no need to ruin her character because of the toxicity of Josh/Reva.
  2. Hello new script-writer . There was a bit more bite to the script today that I hadn't seen before, and this particular script-writer wrote on the revived All My Children (and also was a casting director for RHOD to boot). SPS vs Derek was hilarious today with poor Jan as middle-person. Jan should think about becoming a meditator. Hayley (Real Hayley) is funny, though I agree with her friend that they need to stop meeting in public places LOL
  3. Yet another thing that PDF Kevin destroyed that made Y & R the show it was... the Gina set. That set was superior to the GCAC set.
  4. Regardless, Reva was played out by 1990 and her driving off a bridge trying to get to her bud was a poetic and tragic ending to a character that was basically her own worst enemy. Bringing her back in 1995 was a huge mistake and proved that sometimes you can't go back. I also thought bringing Josh back in 1993 was another mistake other than a visit to tie up things with Harley and than going back to Italy.
  5. 1984-Karen is shot and Abby kidnapped by the Wolfbridge Group 1988-Jill’s torture of Val (Well-acted and during the writer strike) 1981-Sid’s car going over the cliff 1993-Abby moving back into Knots Landing (coming back full circle) 1985-Val seeing the twins alive 1982-Val walking in on Gary & Abby 1983-Gary left rotting in jail while Karen realizes Chip is the one who killed Ciji 1987-Abby hiding and burying Peter’s body (I would preferred if it ended with Abby and Olivia both finding Peter's body as the cliffhanger) 1980-Gary falls off the wagon and gets back on. 1986-Karen is kidnapped (I was hoping she would be kidnapped and never come back). 1989-Paige left standing in the rain while Mac gets skunked 1992-Meg goes missing and Pierce turns up alive in Paige’s care 1991-Brian Johnston disappears and then paintball madness/shenanigans 1990-Paige being stood up at her wedding, Jeff is Karen’s stalker The above are my ranking. .
  6. She wasn't a fit on GL at all. She stuck out like a sore thumb during that era. Sometimes a performer is good, but their vibe/aura doesn't fit well onto a show. Doesn't mean the show is bad nor the performer is bad.. just isn't a corporate fit.
  7. Sisters was a product of the the early to mid 90s and served as an appeal to Boomer women of that era (who were in their 30s and 40s) so there was an interesting balance of whimsy and dark subject matters. My mom and all of her girlfriends loved the show.. and she even got my dad to watch the show (he had a crush on Sela Ward and my mom approved of it saying he had good taste). From doing my rewatch, I think that season 2 and 3 strike a perfectly good balance between the darker subject matters and the whimsical/comedic element. Season 4 still had some light and whimsy in it, but it was scaled back in favor of the more intense soapy storylines. Unpopular opinion, but Georgie's breakdown over this season made perfect sense and was in character. The 'attempted suicide episode' in the middle of season 4 was probably as dark as the show should have gotten, and we should have gotten future episodes where Georgie starts to get better with some set backs (which the show did with her character till the end of the season). There was one season 4 episode that I was thought was charming with Teddy playing detective with she and Falconer being a 90s Nick and Nora Charles. The end of season 4 did seem to provide some light and hope in the show with Trevor coming home and promising to get help and do better, Georgie starting to get better, Teddy ready to marry Falconer, Frankie enjoying being a small business owner, and Alex and Big Al being a unique odd coupling that worked. Season 5 went off the rails without any of the warmth and whimsy of the first 4 seasons. It was as though the show ran out of story and just made the women do outlandish things that weren't connected to reality. The series finale really redeems the show to me and brings back the concept of Christmas being the uniting element for the sisters.
  8. Naomi is an attorney for the underdog , and most of the time they tend to be at the police station more often than an office.. so Naomi not having an office isn't a big deal to me. It would make more sense to have redressed a set for Vanessa's office where Joey could come to discuss visit and also have it be a front for her 'escort business'. Although having Vanessa's house shown with both of her children not liking Joey being the house and seeing how close they are to 'Aunt Jan' would have been interesting to see.
  9. The character write-up on Grayson did hint that he was raised by a single parent so perhaps in order to support the parent (possibly medical related), he has to work for the Impaler. I also wonder if Kial is also involved in the ring since I believe it was mentioned he was a widow and perhaps he lost his spouse due to something that could have been prevented. Had a female expressed the same concerns about Grayson due to her instincts, she'd most likely be listened to and believe.. but because it's Derek (a man).. he won't be listened to. Although I think his instincts about Grayson are right, I think the true backstory for Grayson isn't sinister and probably is something to do with his single mother that raised him. SPS is the reason why restraining orders are a thing. I wish the show would Dani like this all the time instead of on occasion. She wasn't too over the top, she acted like a rational individual and was even respectful about Eva when talking to Izaiah. Perhaps if she detoxed from Bill completely, she'd become a decent human being (although she has an addictive personality so she'll switch to a new addiction like alcohol, sex, etc) I'll say it again, but I think Shanice is the best friend Derek has right now.. way better than Pick me Jacob. Lastly, I don't get the Chelsea/Madison relationship... it reads like a bad YA novel. MVJ and co... please read Emily Henry so you can actually craft a solid 20 something relationship between two individuals.
  10. I do know that the head-writer used to have approve casting, and that sometimes the head-writer and the casting director don't see eye to eye. Betty Rea and others had to convince Pam Long to go with Kim Zimmer as Reva for instance. So I bet if Marland was dead-set on Elliott, no one that Betty Rea saw and bought to him would have convinced him to change his mind so I can believe that JFP also was someone that when she was dead set on someone, nothing could deter her (i.e. Crampton as Mindy, Walker as Tangie, etc).
  11. I think had Ann Hamilton been cast after Krista instead of after Simms, her Mindy wouldn't have been so jarring. Since Hamilton couldn't be sensual/sexy like Simms was (but very few could be), she seemed to try to portray Mindy as a 90s version of Annie Oakley.. and it just seemed to not land. Although when Eve started to terrorize and gaslight her, I thought Hamilton did well with that and how she responded to the threats and taunts lodged at her. I also give a bit of credit that the writers remembered that Mindy was friends with Harley and Mallet during that time since by the time Crampton had taken over as Mindy.. no mention had been made that she had been friends with Harley or Mallet. The show only seemed to remember some connections Mindy had depending on which actress was playing her. When Simms was playing Mindy, I don't recall any mention of her and Frank dating was ever bought up but anytime Krista was playing Mindy.. mention was made of Frank/Mindy formerly dating (and I have to say I wouldn't have been opposed to having Frank/Mindy being end game at the end of the show instead of Rick/Mindy or Blake/Frank).
  12. Patty does have history with Diane, but I hate that she'll continue to be crazy/psycho instead of being tortured like she was in the character's heyday circa 1983/1984.
  13. Jan understands where Leslie/SPS is coming from because she was probably left to raise Ashley as a single mom. @ranger1rg I would agree with you about Shanice jumping to conclusions had she not overheard Nicole mentioning getting roses from Ted back in the day or not seen Ted acting like a jealous spurned lover when it came to Nicole earlier that evening.
  14. So with Joey getting a new set, it looks as though he'll be on the canvas for awhile longer. I'm still waiting for the other shoe to drop in regards to Vanessa and why she's been so gaga over Joey. Based on Jan's comments, I guess the show has officially confirmed that Joey isn't Ashley father. Mona/Randy... hmmm.. interesting interaction and I'm wondering if it was a one time interaction or if the show might be testing them out. Anita marrying into the Duprees is a very important fact that I'm glad the writers haven't forgotten. It also explains why she kind of has a soft spot for Eva because she also started out outside the gates. Shanice/Ted - Trouble in paradise Kial/Nicole - I like the interplay between them.
  15. Dani and Bill having these constant scenes remembering the past is making me remember Passions and their constant repeating of the same scenes over and over. The writers seem to do this with Dani all the time rather it's her/Andre in bed with her talking of her self-esteem or her remembering the good times she had with Bill even though he made her look the fool. The writers could have cut all those constant repeat scenes involving Dani by 25 % and devoted that time to developing Chelsea's arc... first with Allison and now with Madison. I have said this for almost a year and will continue to say this, but the show has not nurtured nor developed Chelsea's character in the same way that it's developed Naomi, Kat, and Eva's characters. I like that the show is continuing the rehabbing of Ashley's character and it's going well so far. I'm most intrigued with Shanice keeping her friendships with Derek and Ashley without choosing sides. Unpopular opinion, but I think Shanice is the best friend Derek needs and has over the one with Jacob. Jacob can be such a pick me sometimes and the way he talks down to Derek has always been on my radar.. and seeing how encouraging and positive Shanice was this week really drives that point across to me. Hayley Hayley... so messy and sloppy.... liteally with her thirst for Izahiah on full display.. and even Chelsea noted it and didn't believe her claims of just being nice/polite because he's Naomi's brother in law. I think Hayley's comments on Bill's health was the deciding factor in Chelsea opting to do the long distance thing. The way Smitty's contact was carrying on in public makes me think that Jacob would be better off if this contact backs out because the guy seems a loose cannon and would cause Jacob more trouble undercover than be a help. Lastly... this new story with the plasma... I wonder if the new clinic will be a front for it and if Kial, Carleton, and Grayson are all involved. Remember Kial comes and goes and maybe the traveling doctor bit is a way for him to get more supply
  16. Thank gosh for the Hayley/Bill and Kat giving Chelsea some hard truths.. or else it would be too much Anita cancer focus.
  17. I think Simms had announced her leaving right after Eve was introduced so the show had to quickly write her out. Based on the final episodes with Beverlee playing Alex, it did seem as though Alex had a come to Jesus moment about letting her hatred of Mindy/Roger affect all aspects of her life expressing regret over losing Fletcher and now her son Nick. I remember her final scenes with Nick where she was leaving to give him space and that she would be back once he let her know he was ready to talk to her again. The one story I think really got affected when Beverlee left other than Nick/Mindy/Eve was the Jenna taking over Spaulding story. I recall a few scenes of Jenna acting opposite Beverlee's Alex and there was no love lost so I have a feeling that had Beverlee not left.. she would have played a big part in the Jenna taking over Spaulding story and would have probably blamed A-M and used this as a tactic for her to manipulate Nick to work for Spaulding Enterprises, etc. In regards to Eve, I do recall that she even mentioned to Ed about his affair with Lillian as a way to get him off her back when she was gaslighting Mindy. Oddly I liked Ed/Eve together.. they were both wounded and full of remorse over the mistakes made by both in their lives.. and it took Eve about two years to regain the truth of Springfield over her actions.
  18. The core four can't be the whole show, and I liked the episode yesterday because the core 4 weren't in the episode.
  19. I agree Ms. Crampton was wrong in the role of Mindy, but the show made it almost impossible for her to make the role her own with the timing of her debut where she came into story of Eve stalking/gas lighting Mindy and spending the first weeks yelling and being paranoid anytime she interacted with Eve. Granted she had reason to be weary of Eve, but since she hadn't played the majority of the story, it fell flat. And to add insult to injury, Marj joined as Alex and the show insisted on restarting the Alex/Mindy feud instead of putting it to rest and moving the two characters onto separate orbits. The last few months of Ms. Crampton as Mindy showed she had a good handle on playing a Mindy that had matured.. but still had a bit of the character as played by Sims in her. And she was the only Mindy that had chemistry with O'leary as Rick.
  20. One of the complaints in 'season 1' was how isolated Derek was so I'm guessing he's going to be an EMT at either the hospital or at the clinic. And SPS not liking him makes me chuckle a little bit. Call me crazy, but ever since Tracey Thomson joined as co-headwriter.. I noticed that Ashley has improved in terms of how she's presented. Chelsea is giving off Allison vibes to me. Madison... I hope you don't regret including her more into your life.
  21. I think the plan was to put Mark in a triangle with Tiffany and Sean after Tiffany's part is pretending to be Meg was over... but with Tiffany being recast and de-emphasized... he was paired with Gabi (who I thought he had good chemistry with). His death was the final event that turned Gabi from a bitter schemer into a heroine type.
  22. I haven't watched Potomac in a couple of seasons, but I decided to watch the Colorado trip from hell.. and it was so entertaining. It had none of the ugliness of SLC and their various girls trips this season. I think not having Karen on the show this season actually made it seem a little bit fresher because Gizelle and Ashley didn't have their usual target. And Angel is the most obtuse housewife I've ever seen in my life especially planning a huge gathering an 1+ outside of Denver with only 5 hours to spare before the flights started to depart. So much went wrong with the trip that the producers didn't need to manufacture a lot of fights and that's why it seemed to be less toxic than usual. With that said, I do think it's time for Miss Ashley to exit stage left after this season along with Angel (who seems like she doesn't want to bond with the women).
  23. Y & R Jed Sanders (1993 - 1994) - As played by Josh Taylor, he came to town as a red herring during a brief period where Nina was trying to find her father and he happened to have a scar in the same place as her father had. After some interactions between Nina/Jed, she brings him to her place and is disappointed when her mother Flo states he isn't her real father. After that happens, he remains on the show for awhile with a brief relationship with Nikki (lots of chemistry between the two) and also has a fling with Jill (lots of chemistry between the two)... and just as it looked like we might get a Jill/Nikki feud over this... he was quickly written off the show and Nikki went back to mooning over Victor while Jill ended up fighting John to either stay married or get divorced over the next two years.
  24. I always wondered if the characters in a TP production were hard of hearing because they would repeat questions and statements over and over. He would have been better off employing some of the hacks from daytime like Ron C, Dena H, etc... he made them look like Shakespeare lol
  25. I think it was guilt on Vanessa's part that motivated her to want to protect her daughter Dinah, even though she had gone off the deep end and murdered someone. Was Vanessa wrong to protect Dinah? Absolutely. Did I understand her motivation for protecting Dinah? Absolutely. That section was probably the most in character Vanessa had been written in for a very long time. I always thought she and Matt were only bought together because of physical attraction and naturally should have drifted apart long before they had a child together... but the Matessa fans were hella creepy like the Jeva and Manny fans were during this period of time.
