Well Harley jane Kozak did ask the producer if her departure would be memorable and the answer was 'oh yeah'. My mom quit watching when Mary was killed off...only coming back to see Kelly's Princess Bride inspired wedding to Jeffrey and staying until she had enough of the Sonny/Mason story. She did check out how Eden would be written off..and she told me 'the show is toast now that Eden is gone'.

Recasts on shows: good, bad, in between
Speaking of Stephanie Braxton, wasn't she a last minute recast on EON..effectively playing out the last weeks of the intense character arc?

Primetime Soaps
Kings Crossing promos focusing on the stormy marriage between the parents...and also the forbidden vibe between the daughter and her piano teacher. I do wonder if this would have done better on a different night?

B&B: Old/Classic Discussion & Articles
The first weeks 60 to 70 episodes of Bold was set up. In fact, it felt almost like 2 different shows with the Logan family drama and the Forrester family drama in separate lanes. However, once Brooke/Ridge..and Beth/Eric reconnect...the show truly gets going. Looking back, Bill Bell was setting up the characters, showing their lives before the two families start to interact again. Soaps wouldn't do that build up nowadays..imho. My mom watched when it premiered..and she said the original Beth was an attractive blonde Grace Kelly type..and she couldn't buy Eric going for Stephanie...but when the mom is recast with a more passive, sweet darker Beth...she could understand Eric ending up with Stephanie. Though original Beth and Brooke looked like mom and daughter..and it helped explain why Eric ended up hooking up with Brooke.

Up till 2000/1 was consistently good and/or decent quality. 2000/1 to 2006 was a mixed bag where some of the show was decent..but other parts..not so much. The Glow by Jabot crew (Raul, JT, Billy, Rhianna, Brittany, and Mac) was the last strong 'young' group...it reminded me of the inter related groupings of the younger bunch in the 80s.... Patty, Danny, Lauren, Traci, Nina, Cricket, Phillip, etc.

I'm hoping the RH all stars at Dorinda's place is a test run for her coming back to NY. Also...something tongue in cheek..

Vancouver didn't film a season 2 reunion..so it isn't unheard of to not film one. Not much has happened in NY....just do a virtual WWHL reunion special and call it a season.

The Doctors Discussion Thread
Eleanor could have been tied more to the hospital..as a board member, doing hospital drives, etc. I often wonder if she was meant to be written off by Depriest, but kept on when Marland took over? Her story seemed done and then the writer switch happened..and.poof she was back and starting the Luke story.

I think when Tori left town in early 1989, she worked it out to let Chip stay with Cruz. I'm surprised she last 2+ years on the show...I do wonder if there was a way to keep her on..without being the spoiler?

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Karen and Gizelle have had a long time friendship. And Karen has said she likes Gizelle...and I think Karen is someone who will ignore you if she doesnt like you. She never ignores Gizelle and vice versa. And regarding NY, Leah has had 2 seasons and she hasn't proved why she should he there..so she can go. Now I get why OC drops lots of their housewives after a shaky 1st season...because they tend not to improve, but get worse with time.

Actually back in 1996, people kind of cheered on Mari Jo for torturing the Bug. Some even said she found an effective way of shutting the bug up.(drugging her). I do.wonder how different the show would have been hav Mari Jo not been the shooter. Jack / Mari Jo were a good match...the few pairings of his that worked. Personally, since Stafford ended up quitting in 1997 anyway, maybe have Phyllis be the shooter. She meant to shoot Christine and got Victor by mistake. Phyllis would have kidnapped Chris and tortured her..would be in total character. I think 1996 was when Bell's health started to decline..imho

Susan Lucci played Erica as more comedic and someone you humored...while early Felicia seemed colder (flashes of that Felicia would come out..especially opposite Lorna in 1991-1992).

The Doctors Discussion Thread
I recall Retro saying that the Doctors had lots of interest and views so they opted to do the whole series. It's probably why they wanted EON. I wonder if they're aiming for other soaps? Capital would be fun..and only 5 years to digitalized vs 19+ years of the Doctors.

All my Children: Gillian was created by Lorraine Broderick as a jet setter, was perceptive and scheme. Mctavish paired her with Ryan and made her ditzy. Guiding Light: From what I read in synopsis, it sounds like Holly became more a heroine under the Debson's. I recall once how the original actress playing Holly didn't like the changes to the character..explaining that Holly would have seen through Rita's attempts to get Ed for herself...which I agree with. Marland made Holly even more passive, while Long made her more confident and sexy. When Curlee wrote her, she focused more on Holly's neuroses and less on being sexy/confident.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
I think both being 17 worked in Shannon's favor, plus in season 15,..there wasnt much talk of David, his new wife, nor his new family. So Shannon proved that the girls are could be filmed with little to no mention of him and his new family. Now had David said the show was a negative environment for the girls, he would have had a case since it was alleged Brownie hinted about a drug source for one of twins. But he didn't opt for that claim.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Jersey and OC were just as much about the families so I can see why Shannon used that as an argument. NY, Atlanta, BH, Dallas, and Potomac are less about that (though the husbands on Potomac get a lot of focus..which enriches the show..imho). Plus, the show has filmed for at least 2 seasons since the divorce with last season not even mentioning David. So I think that helped Shannon's case. And Sophie's talking heads were so funny with her deadpan explaining debutante balls, her mom's tendencies to overdue things, etc. So her daughters do add an element to the show (not quite on the level of Brianna though) Sophie was the deadpan eye rolling daughter, Stella was the spirited mischievous daughter, but I don't recall much focus on Adelaide...tbh. And tbh, Tamra not being able to have her kids film with her did diminish her a bit. I think she focused more on pot stirring because she lost an avenue of her life to film.

Sophia had a warmth and charm about her...a vulnerable aura of that made men want to protect and love her. She used her looks and those other attributes to her advantage. It's why I liked the Ken/Andie plot against Sophia in the final year of the show because he was younger and attractive. And he lavished her with attention, which she ate up after seeing CC hooking up with Santana again. And it was an interesting reversal because she was used by Ken for her money....same way she latched onto the count. And I agree Cassie should have been her vengeful step daughter. Kind of like India was to Alexandra on GL.

Carolyn and Richard Culliton – The Interview
I think maybe the idea of carly was in Marlands plans. Remember Rosanna had run away to find out about her mom and ended up at the Snyder's. So I'm sure it was in his bible...but I think Culliton made her a memorable character. And I do recall she started out warm until she smoked out by the Snyder pond and threw it in the pond. I liked her for that because the Snyder's were a horrid family
