  1. Mallet/Mindy...shame never went anywhere. I still think they were a Pam Long idea. Chelsea/Frank/Fletcher....filler and the show realizing all 3 don't quite fit so let's create a non starter triangle. The Alex/Holly/Ross/Roger stuff was strong. Shows the show could go on without Reva
  2. I grew up in Chicago..and there is conflict between those that live in the city..and those living in the burbs (wonder if the Western burb was Naperville...hmmm). Chicago would be interesting, but they didn't cast it right in 2010.
  3. Hopefully Alan will be quiet and let the trio speak without him interjecting
  4. Both of them were short lived @Soapsuds Fall 1982 for pat F Smith Early 1983 for Browne. And I think after both of them was another short term writing team before Pam Long. I'm sure P & G also drove off Long in late 1990
  5. I think Jen's constant tantrums (which werent apparent in the 1st episodes) got focus. Producers figured people wanted to see that (they were wrong).
  6. Lisa should have been the villainess...a meaner version of Camille Grammar. But Jen had to ruin the narrative. I don't buy the act, she pulled this same thing with her husband in one scene..but as we later saw..it was an act. I'm wondering if a lot was filmed and not shown? Almost all the women seem to have issues with Lisa that didn't end up airing I'm guessing
  7. We don't need Jen. Based on these previews...Lisa vs Heather...and Mary reading Lisa and Jen with ease. Season 2 elements in play. And to keep it fresh..add a new friend of for season 2.
  8. I could buy the Eve retcon...because Amanda would convince someone to cover for her..plus, she was wealthy so naturally she'd go free. I would have reunited Billy and Allison..having them ride off into the sunset at the end of season 5. I wouldn't have killed off Brooke...she had at least another season or 2 in her. She could have veered into Jake's orbit. She was broken while he seemed someone opposite of who she'd go for. Plus, Brooke and Sydney could have teamed up.
  9. She made her debut in one of the last episodes rerun before covid shutdown. She was understated and not at all like she played on the other shows she starred in.
  10. No need for Jen...Lisa could be a worthy villainess. And also comparing food from one culture to dog food is just plain rude and ignorant.
  11. I remember post adam, Gloria was a background character save for chemistry testing with Jack..and than working for Dr Kinder while he was providing Erica with pills(she got dropped from that angle with Janet being placed in the story).
  12. I think Patty on Y & R would have if the show wasnt a plot driven mess. She had already attempted suicide in 1983 in front of Jack...and when she came back in the late 2000s...she was barely hanging on.
  13. Do any of you think Gloria could have served a purpose on the canvas past early 1998? The fact she was a nurse allowed her a function of interacting with a large cast of characters. She had ties to most of the canvas..and I didn't get why she was written off in favor of the Camille Hawkins character (who only lasted a mere six months). Plus, with Dixie returning that year..would have been interesting to see where their friendship stood after Tad/Gloria ended.
  14. And not only that...but he made Terri C's Katie likeable as his best friend. That took a miracle lol
  15. Season 2 was toxic. Jody wasn't kept in check and was allowed to bully Mary. Plus, her one friend became a housewife that was a recovering alcohol..but had a tea drink that had small traces of alcohol in it. Jody was mean, vicious, and had one Jen Shah sized meltdown at the end of the season. It was so bad that no reunion was filmed and the show was canceled. Outside of Jody and ronnie (she was creepy)... there were some good parts to it. 2 out of the 3 additions were not from Canada...one was from Russia and the other was from Texas.
  16. Stephanie is the sweet one...you need a nice one on each show.
  17. I had no idea the Kingsley were back in 1988...wonder if the strike derailed whatever plans were for them
  18. Nah, Amanda and Jo had interesting verbal communications. It seemed more evenly matched.
  19. I think Reva (had she not returned from the dead) would have been the one character that had mental health issues, and if the 1990 story held out would have been #1 for this topic.
  20. There is an episode of AMC from late 1989 where Nina asked her father to let her go...that her life was with Cliff..and he did. Power of soaps..seeing how the Palmer/Nina relationship changed and became somewhat healthier. When she visited in the 90s, they were a healthy father and daughter relationship. Didn't Erica and Mark briefly date in the late 70s until it came out they were half siblings?
  21. Knots Landing is the gold standard of primetime soaps. Ingmar Bergman's Scenes of a Marriage inspired the creation of it.
  22. Palmer/Nina was an example of emotional incest...something that exists more than we realize.
  23. Was Hank boring because of the acting, writing, or all of the above?
  24. Based on Lisa's Instagram..she does seem to love her family. She's just a type A person. Meredith is almost too logical to be on the show...but I have to admit the mask was interesting.
  25. GL after the 1988 strike derailed Long's plans, managed to take what the scabs had done and ushered in the last golden age of GL from 1989 to 1993. Do you think ATWT had the same luck post 1988 strike? It seemed the show became darker and serious post strike..at least after the more energetic 1985 to 1987 of Marlands stint (I believe the energy element was from the previous writer Bledsoe Horgan).
