  1. Thanks @I Am A Swede . I see on her Wiki that she sold her US home due to Trump. As one should... This went viral again a few years ago due to being in a Spiderman movie.
  2. Congressman Green's wife alleges affair, divorce imminent - Nashville Banner The reason I'm posting this here is because she initially blamed a reporter from Axios - she later said that she was wrong, but it is a woman in politics.
  3. They did, yes. I was annoyed at all the attempts at overusing the swings as a symbol of lifelong love between Vicky and Jake when that had never been their relationship.
  4. I can't even imagine how that would have been.
  5. I do wonder about this - not that I am doubting you personally - because there were a number of stories that felt like carbon copies of his past work, like making Cindy into Alex Olanov and giving a Marty Saybrooke-esque rape trial to Toni Burrell. And there were claims the New Orleans influence was from his bible for that FOX soap that was never picked up. I can believe other aspects were foisted onto him. I may be overstating, because I have not watched that period as closely as I could have, but I felt like the show was not sure about where to go until they finally decided to write Shane out. (it's taking all I have not to be annoying and type "Shabobby") Malone's period had a number of character choices that just felt whiplash for the plot. As AW and soaps by that point often did, but in a few cases it did rankle. Grant being elected mayor was totally unbelievable to me (although sadly not as unbelievable in recent years). The writing for Paulina by this time was just a complete mess. I can believe that she loved Joe and moved on from Jake, I suppose, but I don't think she would have ever been so gung-ho over Vicky and Jake, especially since she had a bad history with Vicky for years.
  6. I feel like the whole thing is a trap a lot of Democrats have fallen into. I don't mean debunking the smears and lies - it's only right to push back - I mean the memes and jokes, doing comic remixes of Trump, and a clip I saw earlier today of people at a Walz rally in Grand Rapids chanting "we don't eat cats." Given how high the stakes are for this election it's disappointing to see that type of response. Republicans are very good at flooding the zone. With the time spent on these "jokes," and on combating the racism and xenophobia on display, and the usual conspiracies about ear pieces, Trump is protected through the brief bump that the winner can get from a debate. I was referring to the tweet which made sure we knew Republican evildoers were plotting for Harris. I'm not going to say a good word about either of those men, but it feels very deliberate. The Taibbi article is fine (even though I'm not a Chait fan, to say the least), but again the framing of the article feels very pointed in another direction. They are throwing out every racist smear they can find. Here, and against Harris, and against Linsey Davis (as *gasp* they were in the same sorority). As this is generally a racist country, they know what sticks.
  7. New York is giving the game away about their Trump support. I guess that Nouzzi article wasn't clear enough.
  8. Haitian families in Ohio under attack as racist claims spread - The Haitian Times
  9. We don't know the show's future but I could see this being something various parties agree on to wrap up the Bo and Hope story in a way fans can enjoy, after Ron [!@#$%^&*] the bed. I'm happy for their loyal fans who deserved what will hopefully be a happy ending.
  10. Thanks @Vee . That's a cute photo. Marianne Williamson continuing the descent of so many of the purity left/grifter candidates. I knew the dead end left were right wing at heart but it's disgusting to see them bandwagon on such blatant racism and fearmongering.
  11. That's a great idea. I hate how often soaps need to have children repeat the stories of their parents in the name of melodrama, and the Tess plot is one of the biggest examples of why.
  12. I still don't believe Niki would have allowed that. I never cared for the huge rewrites to that alter, and it just got more and more grotesque.
  13. When Marley returned for Jake and Vicky's wedding, Marley still felt unease surrounding Jake to a certain degree. At that time the writing was very ambivalent about Jake and Vicky even being a proper couple - Jake was gaga over Vicky, but Vicky was still infatuated with Shane and was settling with Jake partly in fear of losing custody of Kirkland to Grant. You can see those dynamics here, as Paulina (who is much much too happy about a man she adored marrying Vicky, and given terrible lines like "Can you picture Jake and the kids at the altar, with God and everyone watching?") convinces Marley to pose as Vicky as Vicky has still not returned from talking with Shane. Once Michael died, Marley along with Donna blamed Vicky and her back-and-forth with Shane for his death. Then after Marley was run over and scarred, she became obsessed with Jake again. I remember a soap article on some scenes with Marley and Jake which aired during the obsession story that addressed the rape - I think Ellen Wheeler and Tom Eplin may have asked for or had input in them. An obsessed Marley was simultaneously denying and clearly still angry and broken over Jake raping her. That was a more nuanced and clearly regretful moment from Jake. Jake had always been written as regretful and awkward around Marley. Unfortunately, after the story where Marley held Vicky prisoner, they just had him being a huge [!@#$%^&*] toward her, no nuance and no history. It was only in the last year or so of the show that they truly whitewashed Jake.
  14. Another article where "undecided" voters end up leaning more toward Trump after the debate, which is another reason I am not sure the debate will hit people the same way it may affect us. https://www.reuters.com/world/us/some-undecided-voters-not-convinced-by-harris-after-debate-with-trump-2024-09-11/ I know this is SNL but it's one of their better political takes. A statement from Linda Ronstadt (she has always been on the left but is saying something as Trump is having a hate rally in an auditorium bearing her name). https://www.instagram.com/p/C_zE5anv8UO/?hl=en&img_index=1
  15. I don't agree. I think she'd be glad to see her favorite show back and she would have all kinds of ideas if she was still here. I agree that a TV movie isn't what she had had in mind but it's still bringing the show back in some form.
  16. I put this in the They Almost Became thread, but hell, why not, I'll put it here too. Rick Hearst reveals that Cynthia Watros auditioned for Lucy on Guiding Light (the role went to Sonia Satra). Lucy was such a thankless part, but then Annie was too for a while. I wonder what Cynthia would have made of it. https://www.soapoperadigest.com/content/exclusive-ghs-rick-hearst-ric-on-his-close-soap-call-with-cynthia-watros-nina/

  18. Yes, an Angie movie would be wonderful.
  19. The show hasn't wasted much time in putting the Nina/Ava friendship back together post-Mulcahey.
  20. There are so many they could do. It's a shame Ryan's Hope killed of Mary as Kate Mulgrew could do a film. I guess she still could...
  21. If you see images going around of Biden wearing a Trump hat and unwittingly further spreading Trump/MAGA claims that he hates Harris, here is why:
  22. Even in side profile Gaetz reminds us Ozempic won't cure your true ails.
  23. I think those stories worked because of the people who made them at the time they were made. There's a reason why the later attempts to recreate Tara and Phil (or even Cliff and Nina and Jenny and Greg) failed. Definitely. What could be...and won't. If these work out, I could eventually see her doing one.
  24. I tend to agree with this take (the full thing won't post). I don't think the debate will hurt Trump much if at all; the biggest help for Harris is that it comes at a time when a lot of negative headwinds were being put on her.
  25. I agree, but these are the people who will be the face of voters for the press. Harris can't do anything right - they set her up for failure at every turn. It's always BS, but it's the type of story that tends to stick. People look for reasons to cling to Trump.
