  1. The only time I liked her was when they paired her with Jake, as he frequently called her out on her [!@#$%^&*]. She was just so unpleasant, entitled, and bigoted, which we were meant to find endearing because she was a poor little rich girl. I can't act like they were wrong, as she had many fans, but this type of character being shoved to the front of the show is another reminder of how much AMC had lost its moral core in that final decade. Budig is also a very cold/flat actress, which is one of the reasons she never found success elsewhere.
  2. I definitely agree they were more popular than those two pairings...I just wasn't sure either of those pairings were meant to be rooting couples. It might be the extremely cheap sendoff they got (which got SOD's worst of the year, IIRC) that makes me think they weren't.
  3. I'd be surprised if all these people are leaving. I know they will have to make cuts and Shorty is brutal (see poor TK) but I would imagine some are returning. Honestly I hope Nicole, Harper and Drew are gone for good. They were exhausting this year and often a drain on the show - if not for the guest spots from Boyd and the times characters like Selina and Nazar got focus, it would have been unwatchable.
  4. I suppose some could say the same of the '70s (especially before the Amos and Wilks double act began) but the show had much more depth and the characters felt like real people. I haven't been going into the '70s watch but I've appreciated seeing your posts. And yes, no soap would allow such a long, unbroken scene now. Faith was a key part of Emmerdale for many, many years. Even now they feint in that direction, but I can't imagine anyone finding any spiritual comfort in Harriet (RIP) or Charles.
  5. That was cute. Nice to see Amelia Heinle with a personality. And I suppose Finola sort of counts as a Y&R cast member. For all the hype over how edgy Chappell Roan is, her true audience inevitably will be what we're seeing here.
  6. The show had more of a sense of fun and the turnover wasn't as noticeable. These days the show makes GH almost seem good. I haven't seen enough of her story to hit a fatigue level but I like her too. She isn't the most charismatic character, but she has a certain grounded quality and quiet strength that I can appreciate on a soap. The actress is decent too. I just hope they don't pair her with Jason for real as I imagine the Liz fans and what's left of Carly or Sam fans will eat her up. That and any pairing with Jason is a dead end.
  7. I imagine Jenny and Paul had to have more fans than most GH couples now because the ratings were much higher at the time, but I do wonder if they ever had any real following. I've never heard of any. I just wish those weren't the only options. GH lost its way such a long time ago. I'm glad the show is still on the air, and it still has more viable characters, somehow, than Y&R or B&B do these days, but it's been different shades of a ghost ship for decades now.
  8. Thank you for reminding us. I'm glad they seemed to remember more people this year, even if there were a few omissions (I was going to say Bill Hayes, although someone might argue he wasn't in enough films). The concept really gets going in the second half. I can't believe how much incredible and above all else unique talent we lost this year.
  9. As the Hart to Hart thread is locked: Stefanie just steamrolling over the anchors amuses me.
  10. If she is the one who wants us to be moved by Joss/Jason and sees his relationships with his kids as a threat, good luck with that.
  11. I wonder how much of the in love turn is from Chad Duell leaving. And Nina will go under the bus soon enough, I'm sure. I just watched a clip of Liz telling Cam that Franco is dead (which seems to have been filmed through a potato) - what an overwrought, trite mess. I will give Lipton credit for going all out, even if I thought he was going to burst out laughing (or maybe that was just me). The show barely even tried to do anything with Jake and Jason this year before shipping him off. What an utterly pointless return this has been. There is something amusing about starting the year with a publicity photo of Carly, Jason and Sam and ending it with Jason being passed down to Sasha for lack of any other ideas.
  12. @Maxim Thanks for sharing. Very disturbing.
  13. Thank you for transcribing all this tea and tagging me @NothinButAttitude . She certainly didn't hold back. I was not even really watching AMC at that time but even then, I knew her treatment was incredibly shabby. I'm glad she blocked Frons.
  14. I still think killing off Dawn was a mistake, as Jennifer Guthrie seemed to have some fans and even if that wasn't enough to keep the character, there was no real story in killing the character. It just seems like Monty trying to make a statement. You could say the decision paid off with Emily's arrival, but given how ill-used that character was, I'd still say it wasn't worth it.
  15. Thanks @slick jones for the info about all the new photos. I didn't know Melissa Reeves was ever on AW.
  16. All great ideas. Alex/Gwyn would also be interesting due to the Clay factor.
  17. Savage was more like the long-suffering but plucky heroine of '40s movies, while Tudor was more like the anguished noir lady of '50s films. I can't see Savage playing those later stories. It's tough sometimes to even remember she was meant to be a mother. A few questions: - who would you all have paired Gwyn with if you'd had the chance (someone she was not already paired with)? - if Gwyn had not been the killer, what would you have done with her? Killed her? Sent her to The City? Or something else entirely?
  18. Weren't there claims someone at P&G was the big Cole fan? They did finally write him out in the last year, but too little, too late.
  19. I think the age difference would not be as big a deal in this case as he should be several years older than Serena anyway (I see he's about eight years older in real life but there have been bigger leaps in soap).
  20. I can't remember but is she a part of the whole Alex kissing up to society/running for mayor story?
  21. You're always very polite about who you don't like or like, even when that probably gets very exhausting. If you don't hate Sonny it's not a bad thing, it's just your opinion.
  22. Thanks. This is a nice gift.
  23. This channel is putting up some original broadcasts, with commercials. No big finds here but if you prefer original broadcasts this one's for you.
  24. I'll always wonder how it felt going from what seems like the moribund early '70s period to when the Dobsons took over, although I assume the changes they made were gradual. Aggressive and entitled fan bases being catered to were one of the death knells of soaps. (and so often for the dullest couples)
