Levi is mostly regarded from his run on Chuck and his voiceover work in Tangled. The first Shazam did well because that was a peak superhero time, and because some of the tone and performances were praised, but Levi was never a big factor. He has taken his various flops hard, especially Shazam 2, which per many fan comments and reviews he was awful in. He's been going on a long downward spiral and now lives on some kind of compound. You can be right wing and still work in Hollywood - Dennis Quaid had a showy part in that Substance movie the critics loved (even if audiences avoided it at all costs) - but Levi is bringing nothing of value to them. I can't find the tweet now, but I felt very bad for Yvette Nicole Brown as she mentioned how personally betrayed, she feels by his endorsement as he had defended her from racism in the past. Speaking of bigots. You can tell the media wants a big win for JD Vance in the debate to try to get Trump more momentum. I will not be watching this, and I hope no one else does either, unlikely as that is.- The Politics Thread
Elissa Slotkin, while fundraising for her Senate campaign, warns of Harris being "underwater" in Michigan. The race is so close I always worry about the number of states where Trump may be performing better than polling suggests. https://www.axios.com/2024/09/29/michigan-senate-race-slotkin-harris- Game Shows
A pilot for Star Connection, hosted by Charles Nelson Reilly. The most interesting part is the short appearances by a number of soap names (Michele Lee, Joan Collins, David Hasselhoff, Tony Geary).- The Media/Journalism Thread

I agree - the whole scene is very amateurish, especially the end.- DAYS: R.I.P. Drake Hogestyn (John Black, Days of our Lives)
I don't watch DAYS very often now but I'm glad John maintained a presence and Drake had his role to focus on in his last year. Drake always seemed to have a sense of humor about himself and the absurdity that was John Black, which along with his charisma and good looks helped keep John a key part of the show for nearly four decades. He replaced a beloved actor in a way that looked deceptively easy and navigated so many eras...few characters were as entertaining, even if sometimes not for reasons the show intended. I'm sure we're all thinking of his loved ones and co-workers, the latter of whom have already had such a horrible few years.- As The World Turns Discussion Thread
As the original account that uploaded several partial ATWT episodes hasn't come back yet I decided to reupload them for the time being. Do any of you remember the airdates for these?- The Politics Thread
That's good news. I hope they will keep coming as the smaller moments are what led the GOP to where they are now in at many state houses. Gallup doesn't do as much electoral polling now but did put this out, which mostly states the obvious about how many factors are helping Republicans this year. Not posting this to say the election is over, as it is very close if Trump isn't being undercounted again, but as a reminder of why this is such a tight race even with Trump being so wretched and so decayed from even four years ago. https://news.gallup.com/poll/651092/2024-election-environment-favorable-gop.aspx More Politico articles, but I think they are worth reading (the latter is about Harris' struggles in PA but doesn't just go on about Josh Shapiro): https://www.politico.com/news/2024/09/28/jd-vance-press-hostile-00181455 https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2024/09/27/pennsylvania-harris-2024-election-00180099- Guiding Light Discussion Thread
I think on paper Labine should have fit GL, but she had a lot of odd writing choices at OLTL and then again at GL that make me unsure. As I also found myself confused and not thrilled with where she took RH starting around late 1979 and 1980 (admittedly the networks have a huge say in all of this) I have to give Wendy Riche a lot of credit for how productive their team was at GH.- Soap Opera Cast Lists and Character Guides- Cancelled and Current

I guess this episode must have been up at some point (or still is in some other form but if so I didn't see it). Jim Muneco put this up today. My favorite part is the Tom and Lisa conversation about his love life - so much fun to see Deas and Eileen here as there is a looseness rather than later versions of Tom mostly tolerating daffy Lisa.- Ryan's Hope Discussion Thread
Pieces are still there to make a revival work but I agree 10-15 years ago would have made the most sense.- Soap Hoppers: The Soap Actors And Roles Thread

Thank you @janea4old for all the info on Stevie's statement and her new song. I think Buttigieg is probably done in the Cabinet after this year - I don't think he would be confirmed by the Senate if it goes into Republican hands. I have a feeling he will become a cable news pundit and maybe run for Congress in a blue state someday. Either that or if Harris wins, he might join her staff in some capacity. This level of blatantly dishonest pandering at a time his party is on a witch hunt against gay parents just pisses me the [!@#$%^&*] off. https://www.nbcnews.com/nbc-out/out-politics-and-policy/trump-campaign-universal-ivf-access-gay-couples-rcna172821- GH: Character recast
Shouldn't Lucas be in his 40s? I imagine it will be short term, not because they have a short-term story planned, but because they likely have no plans for him, and this feels like tokenism to try to stave off backlash over over purging the show of most content that isn't completely straight. Even Hansis' statement claiming that he's glad to be joining a show where he isn't the only gay character reads as such, given that the show's queer presence amounts to a single Kristina and a rarely seen Brad. Based on the half-assed Lucky return and the choices to continue to write around Laura as often as possible, this Spencer buildup seems to be lip service. I have no real idea what purpose Lucas would have in a Spencer family today. Bobbie is gone. He had few ties with the rest of the family. Is he going to tell us how wonderful Carly is? Given how most of Lucas' close relatives are gone or going I have no idea why he is returning, beyond the show getting to tweet about how inclusive they are before he disappears in six months. Van was never very good on ATWT (he tended to be very overwrought, which worked for a while given what a ham Martha Byrne was and that the character was meant to be going through a crisis), although he was OK at the end when challenged more. I haven't kept up with him since. He's not going to have an actual part on here so I guess I will say congratulations to him for getting paid for a while. After ATWT was gutted in part due to dumping so many ABC actors on it I am at least smiling as an ATWT actor makes his way to GH for a brief time.
