  1. I could see that, although Olivia still has her accent, doesn't she? (maybe that's just her real accent...)
  2. Van got very lucky with the time he joined ATWT, when there was a very vocal calling for more gay characters, especially young gay characters who would stay around instead of being a guest star on a sitcom. He was also believable as the son of the ever-hysterical Martha Byrne. People seemed to be tired of him after a few years on ATWT and he moved into other realms post-Luke. I don't think Lucas will be on for long but I imagine if he stays the same fatigue will happen here. I tend to wonder if both actors wanted to drop them.
  3. I don't really think Mulcahey would have made a difference here. He was there when Jason returned and any depth in that story ended in about two weeks. The material for Laura was also mostly poor during that time, and made the character look bad, going on about Heather and giving her chances even as she tells her son to stay in jail. The material with Sonny was just more of the usual posturing about what a danger he was while making sure he had an escape clause. I don't think it was much better than what he has now, it's just Maurice can enjoy himself more now because he can play mobster and has a hot new love interest who exists solely for Sonny. The failures with Lucky have been there for a long time, including with a writer so many now seem to dearly miss (Guza). I think he's just a character who was best left to the past. At best we'd get another sorrowful speech that we already saw twenty versions of in 1998. Brad and Tracy can fight over him.
  4. One thing I will credit Long for is how willing she was to play up the obsessive, toxic side of "Jeva," especially on Josh's end. They also uploaded the end of a March 1988 episode where Sonni is going through a miscarriage and she finally convinces Will to tell Josh. Will doesn't even get the chance as Josh immediately shuts him down...he has to keep worrying over comatose Reva. After Reva returned, the show rarely had Josh be that obsessive, other than the clone story (which they did not properly handle - Reva should have been much more disgusted and confused long term). I would have to give that to Lillian or Buzz. Buzz was a huge drain on the show his first few years and while he became more tolerable after that, had lengthy periods of just (loudly) taking up space. Lillian probably could have been easily written out after Maureen's death, as she was despised by a number of fans. She then had little to nothing in story until Beth returned, and even then rarely had much to do until the last few years of the show. Frank was also lucky, he could have easily gone at any time, but he was fine as a support character...certainly easier to watch than anything that Harley had become by the '00s. I'm glad they gave him that little bit of story/happily ever after with Blake as the show wound down.
  5. Thanks as always for such hard work and finding these other soap roles @slick jones
  6. Trump has gone on all kinds of podcasts for bros, like Theo Von and Adin Ross. He claimed Barron suggested this idea to him. Trump has long had a false image of machismo, thanks to his constant abusive comments and his ties to UFC and WWF. Many blue-collar men seem to gravitate toward him, and I'm not sure what will change that. Biden's attempts at reaching them didn't seem to make a difference. I imagine Obama's efforts will be spun as lecturing and out of touch, and the GOP has spent 15 years spreading lies that he is gay and Michelle is transgender because they know it further weakens him with that base (and it is still going on - Joe Rogan was going on about Michelle in his latest garbage standup special). Another article on weaknesses in Michigan: Dems move to shore up Harris’ base in Michigan: ‘I am worried about turnout in Detroit’ - POLITICO Another piece about the shifting tones of the race: https://www.esquire.com/news-politics/politics/a62571041/trump-harris-last-weeks/ I can already tell her taking support from the Cheneys is going to be what a lot of people use as to why Trump seems to be gaining ground, even though I don't think most people care. I saw that James Carville was blaming her arguments with DeSantis. I think if those cost her, she wasn't likely to win anyway.
  7. I had no idea of Julie, or her role on DAYS, but the way she describes DAYS' decision-making and filming processes these days is mindboggling. It's pretty obvious she had no idea what the hell was going on the whole time she was there but just rolled with the punches. She mentions that her initial scenes were cut and likely the only reason they were put up for people to see is because she thinks Ron saw the behind the scenes video she made and uploaded (and then her character was brought back later). She also seemed very confused about the last story for her character. She talks a little about being there during Drake's last day of filming, although she did not know that at the time and they didn't interact.
  8. I forgot to mention that Julie Dove (Connie, DAYS) mentioned that before being cast on DAYS she had auditioned a lot for Y&R and a few times for GH.
  9. I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet.
  10. @Vee That's pathetic, even moreso after Romney made it clear he wants no part of ties to Harris.
  11. That's one of the reasons I grew to detest Luke - the queasy and impossible mix of how we aren't meant to care because he's so fun yet all the pity parties he and others threw for him. At least Lucky and Jason do have some regrets, even if the show hasn't done enough with them.
  12. Some on Twitter were talking about how Lucky and Jason have failed as returns because of the lack of any consequence they faced from the people they left behind. They mentioned Felicia's return in comparison. I thought to myself the main reason for that is because the show had no use for Felicia by that time, as others like Luke tended to face little to no consequence for years of deadbeat, selfish actions, but I do see what they mean.
  13. Lauren still has a lot of energy and looks well. Another one of those people from Loving who was just sort of left behind by the industry after the show was done.
  14. Thanks for letting us know. @jam6242 I liked his work as Dr. Guthrie. As this was pre-Barnabas, the characters were allowed to be smarter, so I didn't just have to believe he was taking stupid pills. He also had a good rapport with Alexandra Moltke and Diana Millay.
  15. In a recent interview Lauren Marie Taylor mentioned being screen tested on AMC, AW and OLTL before Loving. Her AMC part was Jenny.
  16. I don't believe he ever did.
  17. Thanks. I hadn't seen that video. You are right it must have been Moonlighting.
  18. Part is the press, and part is general unease because it's more common for Democrats to be uneasy, part is some polling trends like Quinnipac (I don't trust a lot of polling, especially Quinnipac, but Elissa Slotkin's comments from a few weeks ago about Harris being underwater in her state seem to back up how bad things may be getting in Michigan), and some of the choices being made and how they may reflect the struggles in the race (Trump is so sure the fix is in that he's going to have big rallies in NY and CA while certain parts of the left or Dem coalition are now so at risk for the party that Harris has to rely more and more on trying to court Republican voters). Part is just my doubt in this country. Biden of 2020 was in many ways the ideal candidate to go against Trump (a nondescript older white man with a lot of Rust Belt ties), 2020 was a dumpster fire, yet Trump still barely lost. He is visibly decayed compared to then, but the only people who seem to care are the people who never supported him anyway. Harris is doing her best, better than many could have done, but this is a country where half or more of the country are seemingly either bigoted or are happy to go along with bigotry if it benefits them. We live in a country where "the paper of record" presents Trump's support of eugenics as a fascinating hobby while skewering Harris for some middling TV appearances. So much that is in the air right now reminds me of 2016. I am hoping Harris will benefit from not having the decades of hostility and baggage that hurt Hillary, but I feel like so much of the conversation and culture have moved to the right even from 2016, it's hard to shake history repeating.
  19. Always applicable with news of Ed Scott (and what Y&R could probably use these days):
  20. I had wondered if the Cybill show she was up for was Yellow Rose (or did she mention Moonlighting elsewhere).
  21. I wouldn't even say he was any good with Tricia and Heather. I thought he dragged Nina down quite a bit. I wonder if he is still friends with Steve (weren't they friends?) and that's why he got a call. He never brought anything to the part, was too old for it, and I don't remember him having any fans. I guess this is Frank's way of telling us they will not bother bringing Steven Lars back permanently with a new actor...making Heather's presence on the show even more pointless. But CVE loves her, so who cares. Bringing Cam back would interfere with Dex, someone the show still clings to. I don't think Spencer will be recast until Trina is gone, so probably sometime next year.
  22. Thanks as always @Huntress
  23. When Gail first started on Corrie, she was the best friend of Tricia Hopkins. She and Tricia were very similar characters. After Brian Podmore wrote Tricia out, he brought Suzie in. Suzie was sharp, but with a heart, like the sidekick to a female lead in '30s movies. They were a great double act, living with Elsie Tanner, who was like a mother figure to them. Podmore wrote Suzie out when Gail got married (expressing some guilt as he did not know Murray had just bought a house). He brought her back, briefly, several years later for a very unpleasant stint where she tried to seduce Gail's husband and left town with a slap from Elsie. Sadly, that was the last viewers ever saw of her. Murray did some acting afterward, but her MS led to an early retirement. She was a treasure, and I'm sorry for how few Corrie fans will ever know her.
  24. It's unfortunate, if not surprising, that the Biden comments are what seem to be getting the most attention in these interviews of late. I do think her attempts at courting Republican votes are somewhat clumsy and may not help her in the end, but the far left has made it clear they won't support her, leaving her with fewer options. Part of the reason for all the chatter is because they were looking for another reason to justify not voting for her (instead voting for Stein, or Trump, as many of them are fond of Trump), and this is an easy one. There are just a lot of people out there on all sides who will never vote for Harris, some due to racism, some due to sexism, and some because they dearly miss the way the Trump POTUS years made them feel. I saw someone going on about how her answers are just like Hillary 2016, but Hillary tried to run a much more progressive campaign, especially after the Bernie primary scares. It just didn't matter to them what she said or did, and they would, as they still are, come up with any reason to justify their vote. I'm not sure any Democrat could win the current election, but the bigotry at the core of this country makes me more and more uneasy as the day gets closer. I hope Harris can somehow pull it off.
