  1. I would agree with this in another era (or maybe on a show beyond what GH has been for the last 20-25 years) but not as much here. Sam is going and Bobbie is gone, so that mostly leaves us with Carly, who is just an energy suck to the point where they can only keep her viable by throwing new men at her and more Jason nostalgia for a pairing that last had any real fan interest three Carlys ago. Lucas returning rather than effort being made on a new character is the easiest form of lip service - they can hide behind the fan value his last name once had and then assume people will lose interest in a week...those who ever had any interest anyway. I also tend to wonder if casting an openly gay actor is a big red flag that they never had any plans to provide real story for Lucas this time around. The only times Lucas had shreds of storyline, straight actors were in the part.
  2. Very true. At least with Mac and Cody, Mac was still on the show and has been a constant for years. It doesn't work otherwise (and I'm sure some would say it doesn't work even with Mac and Cody).
  3. The odd part is she has the connections to be relevant. She was married to Sonny's brother, who was killed by Heather. As others said months ago, she was nowhere to be found in that story.
  4. It would be nice if Holly had another reason to pop in, but I agree there's not much story purpose to tie Sasha to any old characters. If they want to do that, they should come up with someone from the show's first few decades, to help celebrate the anniversary.
  5. If you mean Debbie, it's been confirmed she's not coming back. Whatever happened backstage with the show and Charley Webb clearly took precedence even over an occasion like this. There have been much worse retcons. It seems like she's just sad because he loved his family and was a patriarch and so forth. Given her own issues (like a drunken father and her horrible relationship with her son), I can believe it. I'm glad they find ways to humanize Kim.
  6. It's sickening even by their standards.
  7. I wasn't into One Direction, way out of my age range, but I knew of them, as you almost had to at one point. I remember seeing some clips of Liam and was impressed by what a clear, pure voice he had. It seemed like he took badly to fame, as many do, and then became such a punching bag for many fans. I saw a clip going around recently of him attending Niall's concert, with many mocking him again. You could see something wasn't quite right. If this is true, it's heartbreaking. I know he has a young child, and his family must be in agony right now. I'm so sorry to any of his fans who are on here.
  8. That and budget. There's no place for gay characters on today's GH besides plot devices like Brad. There was never any real place on GH for gay characters. Somehow the most effective is still poor Jon Hanley, who died 30 years ago. Lucas has no real ties to anyone on the canvas (he's not going to get story from hugging Carly or Maxie) and is just a PR exercise. I wouldn't be surprised if he's gone by spring.
  9. Texas also seems to have issues (and I suppose this is also true for OK) where many of the people who move there are hatemongers, swamping even those who were born in the state. IIRC exit polls (whatever those are worth) from the 2018 Senate race had Beto O'Rourke winning votes of people who were native Texans, and Cruz won transplants. There's a reason why scum like Elon and Joe Rogan and all his creepy cronies are flocking in.
  10. @vetsoapfan That's a great point about the difference with a theater actor and a soap actor. It reminds me of when Mimi Torchin would complain about the Emmy nomination given to Uta Hagen for essentially being Uta Hagen even as she just had a small guest spot on a soap (OLTL) and didn't do all that great a job. And thanks to you and @Mona Kane Croft for answering my question about Susan's casting.
  11. Texas does seem to be fool's gold. I think Cruz will not lose with Trump on the ticket, but I hope he does. Hopefully Cruz will underperform polling the way he did in 2018. Nevada is another state where polling is often off, but in favor of Democrats. Hopefully that will be the case this year as it seems to be a dead heat (some Culinary Union person said last week that if the election was held that day, Trump would win). https://www.politico.com/newsletters/politico-nightly/2024/10/15/what-the-campaign-feels-like-in-nevada-00183798 An interesting article on the history of Nebraska's separate electoral vote. https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2024/10/14/nebraska-2nd-district-battleground-00183400
  12. I've posted on here at times, I think it's just so hard to see as the thread is many pages.
  13. Someone in one of the episodes Eddie Drueding uploaded a few days ago (a January 1989 episode) mentioned watching it when it aired in Ireland. I can't remember if we know much about AW's history in the UK or not.
  14. I'd say it would be good soap drama if it wasn't all likely to be forgotten in a month.
  15. Going back to Elisabeth Finch, the writer who lied about her health (skipping a lot here) - there was a Peacock documentary about her, leading Finch to apologize on her Instagram. 16. It interested me mostly because I know that a lot of Obama people are on her campaign, and he's not saying anything a number of others haven't been saying about people not knowing her.
  17. Thanks. I'd never even heard of this. Nancy Feldman must be one of the soap roles that is most overpowered in terms of impact on the show compared to the careers of the ladies who played her.
  18. I get the sense he was ashamed of actresses who had a broader popular appeal and were not among an elite theater crowd. He was so tied to that elite he didn't realize how rare it was to find a Beverly Penberthy or Susan Sullivan (and I'm not sure he was even involved in Sullivan's casting [obviously he wasn't in Penberthy's]). I have only seen a bit of the Marianne who replaced Ariane, but nothing I saw suggested she was a stronger performer.
  19. They chose some of the dullest episodes, but then Soapnet didn't keep AW long enough either (wasn't it just a few years) even though 87-91 had some high spots.
