This is why it bothers me more and more when I see people thrown AI scripts around online and say it's better than professional writers. It starts to come across as propaganda to me for the industry.

Currently, there's no verifiable information on what the shows plan to do writing wise as the strike progresses. With the DGA contract talks beginning this week and a bleak chance a deal will be struck if one isn't already with the WGA by the time the DGA contract expires, there's a big chance we'll see more than just a need to find writers.

I wouldn't go by history, especially when you consider that there were eight soaps on the air during the last strike. There are now only four now. People don't want to lose their rights unless they are currently in a position of power to do so.

I am going by who is already Fi-core working on the four remaining shows. thats how i got my predictions.

The soaps could halt production as soon as pre-strike scripts have finished filming but in the previous 4 strikes of writers this has not happened

Going on averages it doesnt seem like they will fold this time either & probably have back up plans

Time will tell.

Hey John, the problem is that you didn’t say those were predictions. Answering their question with a list of writers gave the impression that those would be the writers during the strike. Just a head’s up.

Kay Alden, at this point, is retired (I remember reading this somewhere). And it's a shame, because I feel like she's the last one who worked under William J. Bell who could handle a Bell soap at this point.

If they can survive the COVID shutdown (which everyone said would be their death, among other things), I do think they can wave the storm of the strike.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but Kay Alden was on staff of B&B during the last strike when she chose to go fi-core.  She hasn’t been an active staff member of any writing team for years as she is retired.  So who would expect her to come out of retirement to scab write at this stage of her life?

I love soaps- but I do think the writers should show solidarity with their union and not cross picket lines.

B&B (or Y&R) doesn't have to be written like a Bell soap.  It just has to be decent.

But, I do agree, @Liberty City: it would be nice to see Kay Alden back in that HW's chair under any circumstances, strike or no strike.  But I also don't blame her one bit if she chose to enjoy her retirement instead.  She's more than earned it.

Unfortunately it's now COVID on top of the strike that makes me wary.

I guess one thing in their favor is if streaming continues to crash, they are ready-made programming already on networks (other than DAYS - maybe they can still be moved back).

    • I think GM would’ve worked as a recast Cam too The storyline could’ve even been that Cam was still learning the violin over the last year and the Nurses Ball was meant to be his big break. And it would’ve been nice to see Cam move on with Emma
    • See ya bright and early tomorrow morning! True, Kristen deserves a child like that. But it was too much like the way Ron wrote the kids on GH; they’re only awful, obnoxious little sh*ts because he finds it funny
    • Thanks for the Days writer update. Since Draughon started in August 2024 according to his Linkedin profile and this episode was taped the week of September 9 2024, it seems the outlines are being written about a month or less from tape date.
    • So far all I'm enjoying about the show is SINN and surprisingly the Finn/Liam bonding/friendship that's it lol
    • I guess it shows how uninteresting B&B is right now when most of the posts these last few pages have been about Don Diamont's celebration and not about the actual show....

    • On Days of our Lives-- Rick Draughon was listed with the breakdown writers starting today and Isaac Francis Tackman has been listed alphabetically with the other scriptwriters since Tuesday.
    • Oh, I liked O.G. Rachel, too. But this one seems to be projecting in her acting as if in a theatre; it's a very different take on the role. Both are nice, though. And yes, nü Rachel did just get cast in the Little House reboot as Laura Ingalls (originally played by Melissa Gilbert). As for whether she'll continue on DAYS, who knows? I am sure TPTB could give her time off to film eight to ten episodes of a television series for Netflix (which may not even last beyond a singular season).

    • They got a few decent episodes out of it, but I don’t see the long term goal or story potential here. Lois will likely go back on the back burner pretty soon, Gio is technically an adult, and who cares about Dante and Book Lynn having a child together in the long run? After the initial shock wears off, there’s no story left as it’s not like Dante and Brook Lynn are in love with each other but torn apart by circumstance, or their insta-child is reliant on them in any real capacity. It all feels very shortsighted.
