I don't even know what purpose Laura's death (or "death") has served thus far.

Exactly.  Ken Corday keeps getting in his own show's way.  He really needed to step away from running the show in any capacity a long time ago.  He could still own it, of course, through Corday Productions, but just let others (who know what the hell they're doing) make the actual decisions.

Alan seems to be confirming that the name has been leaked (but he's still not saying the name).  If he is referring to what was leaked on this thread, then Abigail is the one dying.

Maybe, coincidentally, something also happens to Maxie, but I don't think she's the "heroine" Alan's blind item was about.

So when do Abby and Laura come back from the dead together as a package deal? Will they be revealed to have been held on an island by Gwen? Really, either of them staying dead would be trash.

Ron sure seems happy to kill off /write off Horton family members.

But not so interested in nurturing that same family.

I might be missing a few, but off the top of my head, offscreen Hortons that could be used in some capacity

Tommy (is he really dead?)

Sandy (and any children she may have had)

Marie

Jessica Blake

Mike

Jeremy

Steve Olsen

Spencer Olsen

Melissa

Scott Banning

Nathan

Hope

And any other children those offscreen characters may have.

Tommy would be like 90 now. I guess they could have him die and his last wish to be buried in Salem, which would bring Sandy and Marie (and any spawn they have) back for it.

I guess Ron brought on Sarah though.

Honestly, I don't mind them killing off Abby as such - the issue is still that I think they'll end up backtracking a few years down the line. Because ultimately, if you kill off a legacy character like Abby you can't really just sweep it under the rug - she's not your regular Serena. Her death wouldn't just end with her funeral, but would be something that echoes years and, assuming the show lasts that long, decades down the line. This is why it's so tempting for writers to bring back characters like Abby for the cheap drama during sweeps. It's an easy way to create tears and conflict and why it's hard to keep them dead. If the bozos that run daytime today had been in charge of the shows back in the 70s/80s I'm sure characters like Addie would've miraculously turned up alive at one point.

I'm not as as down on Ron as some people are, but his strength does not lie in writing stories like that.

    • Yes! I actually started typing something up the other day but ended up not posting. It pretty much said something to the effect of the show feeling like there were a lot of balls in the air, the stories almost felt aimless. I am sure most of these will come to a head soon enough. I also wondered if it had something to do with the changes behind the scenes, but these lulls between major moments truly kill the momentum.
    • Will concede it's moving along slowly, but I am still hinged on every word every second. I refuse to miss anything.  OTOH, I watch GH were things are moving along  little quicker, but I have to FF certain scenes because it's extremely repetitive, where I don't get that from BTG.
    • I am toggling between Apr ‘82 Kay and Nikki, and Aug ‘92 Kay and Nikki… and it is a jarring juxtaposition! Nikki has calcified into a Stepford Wife

    • I've watched the show faithfully since the premiere, but I've found that I've let myself fall behind the past few weeks. It sort of feels like nothing is happening again. Does anyone else feel the same way? I would think for November sweeps they'd be pulling out all the stops.
    • I didn't even watch but saw the recap. I can't believe Billy Flynn has been saddled with all of this. He so deserved better.
    • Vernon was spotted by the worst person possible. Leslie is definitely going to use that to her advantage somehow.
    • Yesss! I cackled when Dr. Walked told Leslie to Google him (check my credentials). What is Elon's issue with Izaiah again? Considering we are supposed to believe that Izaiah was some troubled youth, why wouldn't Elon be gald his son has seemed to mature and has job at a great school. I get that family wounds and patterns can run deep, and somehow Joey was a paternal figure to Izaiah but Izaiah's troubles seem behind him.

    • Yeah. I wasn't feeling it either. If it was meant to be a chem test, it didn't work. I don't think so. Because I think Neil and Liz moved into that house after Stefano "died", and Neil lived there until he went to go see his patients and never came back

    • Canada aired a repeat today Tues. Nov. 18. So after being a day ahead for the past week, they will now be back in sync with U.S.
