@AMCerย I have watched little of that story or that period of the show as so much of it feels distasteful and bland to me, but thank you for posting that clip. What an incredible performance from Julia Barr - one of her very best. And how refreshing to see a character having a brain, something that would disappear by the middle of that decade. I will say, watching that, I don't know how the show ever went back to teasing Adam/Brooke only 4-5 years later. It's a bridge too far.ย

That scene is one reason why I'll never believe the ridiculous retcon that Dr. Rick Webber was some sort of serial philanderer who boffed nurses in the family attic.ย  Even after everything that had transpired among Rick, and Lesley, and Monica, and Alan, Lesley was still concerned most about Rick's emotional well-being in that confrontation with Monica.ย  No way would she have cared as much about her former husband if Rick had, in fact, been some sort of louse.

I felt at the time that they were going say he molested Laura, that the original story was going there before she decided to quit and they changed everything. ย Which was going to be so much worse.
ย

If only Monty and ABC has just let Denise go on an extended vacation (which they did later Tristan), the show would have had more of a foundation for later. ย Lesley and Rick and their family. ย I would have killed for Lesley and Alan to have been in competition for Chief if Staff once Steve passed away. ย Or even if they had an eventual affair. ย How great would that have been?

ย

IDK if they changed their plans, because of GF, or because someone simply balked at the idea of Rick molesting Laura -- but yeah, from what I've heard, Charles Pratt, Jr.'s original idea was to reveal exactly what you've described.

Ross rips into Dinah (1:45) after learning Dinah faked her own kidnapping. I always felt like GL actors really relished yelling at Wendy Moniz's Dinah, who was rather hapless in the role.

Yes, Julia was so good during this period. Its a kind of story repeated so often on daytime - but Barr and Canary made it something more because of how committed they were to those scenes. Laura's death a year prior made the storyline even more tragic.

I'd say that's one of the best scenes in daytime history. It's just perfect. The writing, the lighting, the set, the acting, the wind in their hair, the finger pointing and the way Alexander waves her hand at 7:20. Plus, to see Monica being a bitch is such a treat.

I also like when Marlena slaps Sami.ย  Even if it's out a character.ย  "you aren't my dad even if you are sleeping with my mom"ย  Awesome.

Couldn't find the actual clip, but I think we can do okay with a Sami slapping montage.ย  It's in here.

LOL! That was fun to watch. Also made me miss early LK Kate. Such a different character. It's hard to recognize her now.

A recent one: Eileen Davidsonโ€™s Emmy submission as Kristen when she confronted Marlena and tauntedย her about John. Just so unhinged. โ€œHe was ALL OVER ME! He was EVERYWHERE!โ€

This 1983 DAYS clip was posted here months ago and I had onlyย read a little about it beforehand. But Renee DiMera (Philece Sampler) confronting Alex and basically all of Salem at a party before she was murdered. Itโ€™sย one of the most powerful soap scenes Iโ€™ve ever seen.

ย

If only Philece Sampler had exhibited a fraction of this fire as Donna on Another World.

This is my favorite Kim/Susan confrontation, years and years after Dan Stewart and Susanโ€™s affair with Bob.ย

Susan: ย โ€œSay hi to Bob!โ€

Kim: ย โ€œOh, go to hell!โ€

Love Flannery, but Iโ€™ve always foundย those Big Bear scenes extremely over the top, and the undertones even a bit disturbing....

ย

At times, it felt like Stephanie was going to rape Brooke...

ย

I agree. Flannery was always a pro but I vehemently hated the direction they took Stephanie - an unnecessarily violentย villain and eventual rape facilitator. It absolutely ruined the character.ย

I wouldn't call this "best," but it's probably the last scene of any impact that Bobbie and Luke ever had (and probably the last Bobbie ever had), taking place after she finds out Carly is her daughter.

ย

ย

โ€œYou want to talk about some of the other things I did for money Barbara?โ€

ย

I know I watched this back then, but that line and how he delivered it really caught my attention today. ย Lots to explore there if the show had decided to., no need to have Luke kill his dad, not that I thought that was such a bad revelation. Itโ€™s just heย had enough trauma already waiting to be explored.

ย

ย

This is one of those scenes where you realize both how good Tony can be, and how bad that Bobbie isnโ€™t a more central figure now.

Iโ€™ve posted this same video in the GL thread, but it is a classic confrontation. ย The club scenes are great, as are the scenes in the next episode afterwards. ย But my favorite part starts on the outside, when Blake and Frank hear Roger and Alex fighting.

ย

Beverlee sells every single line with so much personality. ย Itโ€™s not a screaming over the top showdown. ย Itโ€™s just as cutting though. ย My favorite parts start around 24-25 minutes, after the Holly scene.

ย

ย

โ€Ooh Iโ€™m scared to death.โ€
