the dates for the first 3 are really off though. 1987 might be correct but the stripping one is definitely July 9, 1990

i hope they do show other stories in the 1981 episode!

Didn’t you say they were possibly going by the tape dates? I wonder if that’s the confusion or even planned production/aired dates. I figure the 1987 may even be off from the Iran/Contra hearing pre-emotions a lot of soaps had that summer.

BTW, just was looking up that April 14 1998 episode, we get to see Sandra Nelson’s Phyllis in it.

That is an amazing lineup of episodes! I’m very impressed with Katherine’s week and what they have planned for Victor and Nikki. With Katherine I like that four of the episodes came from the 00s so there is something for everybody. Today’s 2004 episode was fantastic. Then next week we can get a better variety of episodes from different time periods. They really didn’t pick a single dud for that week.

Fingers crossed to see Jack and Patty, Jill, Stuart and Liz at the Brooks house, Vanessa scheming... Had Eve and little Charles (aka Cole) left town yet? That would be amazing to see them. Oh! And maybe we'll see future Broadway star Howard McGillin as Greg Foster #4!

Does anyone have today's episode of Y&R (4/28/2020)? Newsom interrupted after the first half of the show just as I was super invested... *sigh* I'm thisclose to calling his office to ask them to interrupt The Talk or Dr. Phil.

    • I found the reference in the AWHP synopses -- it was 1995 but not directly related to the loanshark.

    • One of the dumbest situations (Lando) ever. What audience member is going to invest in a storyline with a recast they don't like and a triangle where one character is short-term? It bombed as it should have done. So much of JFP's tenure just reeks of desperation. I don't get how someone could produce SB (which did have flaws but was often brilliant) but make so many terrible mistakes at GL.   I still think JFP would have worked better as a director and music supervisor. Her music work at SB was top notch.  It just seems that Rea was minimized during JFP's tenure because I can't imagine her okaying so many of these casting choices.

    • We see the same with GH, where Mark Teschner, the casting director, reportedly has less say since Frank Valentini took over. Some producers want to take over every aspect of their shows.  I think Lando may have been a CBS push.
    • No idea but she won Emmys & she was the Casting Director at the same time for both ATWT & GL. She hired Lisa Brown with no job for her. Then Marland made Brown his muse so he created both Iva & Nola for her. But, I think we know that Jill does what Jill wants.
    • I did notice a decline in the quality of the performers being cast once Betty R vacated/retired from her position. We would have been spared from the nightmares of some of the castings that dominated the show in the last decade or so of the soap. JFP was an example of someone, no matter the gender, who had no business being in the position they were in.
    • If Betty Rea was the casting director, why was so much of GL during JFP's reign cast by her? Walker, Deas, Crampton, Lando, etc. JFP takes credit for Dusay as well. What is the point of having a casting director, if you don't let her do her job? What happened when Rea left?
    • So much on here slips my mind but this is the first I remember hearing of Peterson's passing. Very sad. Nell was a thankless role, clearly set up for a cheating storyline with Frank, but Peterson did her best.  Betty Rea Rea was the casting director for the soap opera “Guiding Light” from 1970 to 1996 and simultaneously the casting director for “As the World Turns” from 1979 to 1983.
