Just finished Hollywood on Netflix. I was really surprised that I actually enjoyed something that Ryan Murphy has done. I wrote him off after he trashed Nip Tuck and couldn't get into Glee; however, his latest works, Hollywood and Pose have both been great. I guess he does stellar work when he has other people to prevent him from veering off to the wayside.

I also enjoyed Hollywood. I was waiting for it to completely off the rails like a usual Murphy show but it didn’t.

Honestly, I hope that he leaves the show alone and doesn't try to do a second season. It ended well and I don't want him to touch it again. I felt it highlighted so many things that occur in Hollywood and each character struck a nerve in me whether good or bad.

Blackish - never thought I'd ever watch this show but I have and on a 2nd run now.  Not much of an Anthony Anderson fan so I refused to watch.  Glad I binged this because it's one of the funniest sitcoms ever!  AA and Tracee Ellis Ross are a really good match!

Lost - never watched this either but it's free so I'm gonna see what the fuss was about.

A cast member of the Japanese Netflix reality series Terrace House took her own life this past week allegedly due to relentless cyberbullying (which is notoriously vicious in Japan), so I think that show’s done. Sad, because it was such a special and warm series at its best.

I completed Love Is Blind and the reunion and...

Lauren and Cameron are almost too adorable to be true, and it was funny to see the other men on the reunion panel thirsting for her. She is THE catch of the ladies.

Funny how Jessica actually seemed unusually thoughtful and reflective about how badly she came off during the show. And Amber dragged her on the reunion (rightfully so), and she took that very maturely.

Kelly has somehow replaced Jessica as the show’s villain after leaving Kenny at the altar. Like Jessica, she had no idea what she wanted (granted, this was a ridiculous amount of time to find a life partner). But she presented herself as this “thinking woman” but was just as messy as all of the others. She seemed very regretful for “friend zoning” Kenny, a pattern she recognizes in her life with her rejection of solid guys who don’t fit her physical template.

Kenny is a mensch. God, give me his composure in a difficult situation.

Carlton is the WORST. Took very little responsibility for his behavior (no, you didn’t “indirectly” call Diamond out of her name... you very DIRECTLY called her a bitch and richly deserved that drink to the face). And that little stunt with giving Diamond a reconciliation ring was embarrassing. He seems deeply troubled.

Barnett looks like he’s aged a decade since marrying Amber.

Surprised that Damian and Gigi were still giving it a go after his brutal rejection of her at the altar. That’s either an amazing relationship or an incredibly toxic one.

Nick and Vanessa Lachey are zzzz.

It would have been cool to hear from people in the house who didn’t pair up (like LC).

KRYPTON S2

BEING HUMAN (U.S.) S2

ONCE UPON A TIME S1 (my first time, and given my love of fairy tales, I am liking)

PROJECT RUNWAY S5 (been binging for a while and really on S8, but skipped 5 since library didn't have it, but see it is currently on YT)

Recently watched THE GREAT on Hulu and loved it for the most part. Catherine is one of my favorite monarchs to teach, and my students usually enjoy learning about her. I’m so glad this version of her story is completely upfront about being purposely inaccurate and more concerned with their own narrative than with the actual history. There’s nothing wrong with that, especially when it comes out like this series did. I know Nick Hoult has done lots of amazing things, but this is the role that made me no longer be repulsed by him after watching his two series of Skins three or four times.

Also finished THE YELLOW ROSE today after getting frustrated with it halfway through a few weeks ago. Shares my thoughts in the primetime soaps thread.

I kinda want to watch SWEET MAGNOLIAS. I haven’t decided if it’s something I’d enjoy or if it’s too mushy for me. I guess watching it’s the only way to know.
