TPTB likely inserted Mariah and Tessa into Hilary & Devon's story to subtly conceal the fact that they were pulling away from the LGTB love story, to give these two characters "something to do", a scenario where they could still be in each other's orbit without an actual romance.

I keep saying that Y&R is probably the most conservative of the remaining shows, on the most conservative of the broadcast networks.  I never believed that the relationship between Mariah and Tessa would go beyond a kiss and some suggestive flirtation, along with declarations of desire.

Perhaps MY had intentions of testing the waters and an initial investment but soon got scared off, for whatever reasons.

IMO I believe that what is being shown now, with both characters ended up at HWG, somehow working awkwardly in the same office is a way for MY to try to finesse the situation.

What happened to the school girl that Hillary was mentoring?  I remember Hillary found out that she wasn't taking her SATs and hadn't been going to school, but I don't think they've mentioned her since.  Guess it was just a tool to show Devon that Hillary had changed dramatically.

The singer Simone is due back soon. The actress has been filming.

I don't know what happened to the Shauna, Hilary's waif. It's like the show shelved that to focus on lily vs Hilary arguing about Hilary having Devon's baby and Lily scheming. The better story would have been then arguing over the teens dating and Charlie being a bad influence on Shauna. We can never seem to get the good stuff.

Well, I can't agree with that being that Tessa and Mariah began centered in Devon and Hilary's story.

With it being the 45th anniversary month/week it would've been nice to have Jack have a quick flashback to the time he left Victor left for dead before he decided to call the cops, I assume we were supposed to be reminded of that when he stopped outside and changed his mind, but I believe it would've been a nice added touch. Did think it was hilarious he took it as a chance to steal some of Victor's stuff lol.

Do we know if Ashley ever took a paternity test? She seemed to brush off the possibility of Jack not being an Abbott.

I need them to slow their roll on Nick/Sharon.

    • I really hope the next steps with the show are building up/out family or story for both Mona and Shanice. Mona has always struck me as prime real estate for a proper family setup.
    • Mona's scenes with Leslie were golden! As well as with Eva.
    • One of my last female crushes... before things started to change

    • I can't speak for all of Ryan's Hope, but I tried to watch it recently, and I found it difficult to get into. The overacting from some of the supporting/bit players was just too much. The show is not as fresh and vibrant as Edge of Night. I have Lisanti's book and wanted to watch some of the show before reading it, but the show is dated compared to other shows (Doctors and EON for ex.) that I found much more watchable and fresh. Perhaps, RH was more of its time than the other two. I don't know why I find RH so hard to watch.
    • From that time period, the one thing that was played for laughs, that stands out to me the most, was Cecile and Kathleen's pie fight, while that French can-can music played.
    • IKR! Tanya Turner, at one point, was EVERYTHING.
    • I can see both sides here. I don't believe that everything in that period was intended as comedy, but I think John Considine played the part in a very mustache-twirling way, as did Marcus Smythe as Peter until near the end, and that did come across as the material not being taken seriously. And I think the same is true of some of the treatment of other stories. The Sin Stalker, for instance, has that incredibly batshit material with Crystal Gayle being attacked. It's pure WTF, and something that, if done in more recent decades, would probably end up having the part played by a Drag Race queen or a Real Housewife.  The main takeaway I have from that period is how little those running the show cared. There's just a callousness. And that leads to a real cynicism onscreen.
    • I think too many of Mary's storylines were absolutely depressing. A lot of that  though was mitigated by her relationship with Scott, Cheryl, Ada and other characters though. I'm one of the few who preferred Mary with Reginald and wish that they had made Reginald less of a villain and made the Reginald/Mary/Vince triangle more of a battle and less a foregone conclusion. Mary choosing Reginald had much more storyline possibilities. What if what if what if...
    • Thank you for the info about SFT related to EON. I thought about adding SFT to my watch list, but I don't know if it's the kind of soap for me. I know very little about it except for a few of the actors and that it was on two different networks. I also know based on this board or somewhere else that the two Lizas both died young from cancer. Warms my heart to see so many EON people on SFT because they are such good performers and I wish they had been moved to other shows. Perhaps, they were and I'm just not aware of it.
